Designer Kristine Paige Kamenstein, of Jackson Paige Interiors, thinks it should be both and focused on this when creating her space within the Whole Home Concept House. The wall paper is awesome but the whole bedroom is breathtaking!!
I love it! The wallpaper is amazing and that window seat is perfect. It's too bad so many people think that a touch of color makes a room "too busy". I guess that's why so many homes are bland and lack excitement. A designer is hired to push the client out of their comfort zone. Not to give you what you would do on your own.
strongforu It depends on the client’s reason for hiring a designer. The best designers listen to and respect the client’s desires. Easing a client out of his or her comfort zone to achieve the client’s desires is one thing. Pushing is something else.
Designers: If you have to push, you probably haven’t addressed the client’s needs.
That wall paper is gorgeous with just the clouds. Would use sparingly with “The Birds,” especially the ones that appear to be diving/falling. Probably just on the walls with windows.
The bird with the cloud wallpaper is Asian crane, called gruidae , extremely popular in Japan as 'Tsuru 鶴' and Russia 'Kpah' due to their migratory routes. This specific bird can fly in many different ways so it might look going down or facing down, falling for you but it symbolize freedom of movement in Asia. This bird is one of few birds that mate only once with their mate in their lifetime and even if their partner dies, it remain single and faithful through their lives. So japanese wedding kimono dresses and other important festivities use this bird as a symbol of faithfulness and happiness. It's an excellent choice of this designer to use in the bedroom besides her thoughtful creativity in choosing specific colors and placed in excellent Feng shui áreas to bring more harmony, tranquility, wisdom, and elegance. Very elegant yet modern room. It is East meet West design. I personally loved it.
Love the window seat design and the getaway space it creates. Would add a wooden blind at the window for greater control of light and privacy from outside.

Everything is beautiful, but I think it would've been much better if the banquet seat has storage drawers. Feels like a missed opportunity.

I don't get why there was concern about the mattress not getting there in time. Aren't mattress companies nationally retailed? I mean couldn't they get a Serta, Sealy, or Stern's & Foster or whatever from a retailer in any state even if they selected the model type in California?
Shocked and saddened that they didn't use the cloud-only wallpaper on the ceiling. Such a missed opportunity.
Swap out the yellow for a dusty pink colour similar to the cushions and it'll be a much better space. I personally just think the yellow was the wrong choice for the other features in the room, it really does not compliment the main feature which is the wallpaper.
Love the room but they must have some really big closets because she didn't include any storage
In the intro, it seems that they designated the closets as a separate room, designed by a different interior designer.

Beautiful home. However, it will require a staff of 6 to maintain it properly.
I feel the lady doesn't really like it. I think it is pretty and original but too much to be resting and cosy.
