- When Alicia Silverstone first laid eyes on her Los Angeles home, it didn’t look much like the glamorous hideaway of a rising Hollywood star.
But for the 19-year-old, the modest house tucked into a winding canyon road high above the city did call to mind another leading lady: “It felt like Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs,” she says. “It was all woods and overgrown and madness, and it had a wild feeling. Wait she bought this when she was 19? And she kept it and made it such a *home.* I feel like so many celebs go through apartments and homes like shoes. The garden is gorgeous, you can tell she really cares. ❤
It’s probably when she got clueless
People think most vegans are crazy violent aggressors shoving tofu down peoples throats. Reality is: most of us are just like her. My garden is just in a much cheaper neighborhood.
Right and they begin with gorgoues homes and each home they buy gets uglier and uglier like Jlo who had a beautiful home and now her homes all look like offices
When you care about your garden that you planted and tended to, it's VERY hard to leave a place.
This is why I love Alicia Silverstone, yes, she played a spoiled little rich girl and clueless. That’s what everyone knows her from,however if you follow her life she’s so grounded and just a nice rounded person. Hollywood needs to take the hint. Happiness isn’t found in the bottom of a Louis Vuitton bag or at the end of a line of cocaine. Happiness is finding a way to become part of this beautiful planet.
Alicia should have her own tv show about living sustainably. She is one of the few celebs that don't make me cringe when they bang on about it as you can see, she really walks the talk and I just love her manner and her gentle voice. I could really listen to her talk for ages.
I agree. She is a seasoned pro at this and could provide a lot of tips for many people. Public figures do have a lot of influence and much of hers could be good for us and the planet.
She does at least have her CZcams channel where the videos are similar to what you’ve seen here. Her channel is her name

I was so so excited to see her in the Netflix babysitters club as the mom and in the whimsy kid movie. My kids had no clue why I was excited. 😂

So refreshing to see a non narcissistic, non materialistic, totally down to earth and compassionate celebrity. I love the fact that she's been vegan for animals long before it was considered "cool".
It’s only “cool” for those that just follow the current trend. I’m not vegan, but my boss and her daughter are. They are the nicest people I’ve met. Very humble and just regular people. They don’t tell everyone they are vegan, or that they are saving all the animals. They do it through actions rather than words. If people are curious, they will answer but won’t get very wordy in their explanations.

I ate vegan for about 4 years as a teen, in the deep south, during the 90's. People pronounced it Vaygan back then because it wasn't all over the media so they didn't know how to pronounce it.
@@light_and_soundmy husband became a vegetarian at 10 and pure vegan at 18. In Texas! So same scenario. He's 39 now and still a vegan. The south is known for their bomb meats and bbq

This is so inspiring. I like how, instead of moving from place to place, buying bigger/newer homes and having them professionally designed to fit a trend, she found her own place in the world and created a home that reflects her own values. Xeriscape and edible landscapes are wonderful for the environment, create habitat, and connect us to the earth. Walking the walk, whether a celebrity or not, is such a rare and beautiful thing. 💜

I love that Alicia's garden is a reflection of her personal values and that she's so hands on with it. Clearly it's a source of joy for her. Beautiful native plants...plus plenty to eat! What an inspiration.
People's gardens can say a lot about their relationship with the world and themselves. Alicia is so bursting with a very pure type of love and pride for this worked-in, living garden full of cycles and mess. It's refreshing to see patches of bare earth and overgrown unkempt moments in a celebrity garden. Nature is allowed to do it's thing, and she is a caretaker that is obviously interested in it's function as a living, dynamic system rather than having just a highly manicured aesthetic posession to boast about. It's a very humble, earned type of pride I really respect. People are like gardens too -- some times parts of our lives are full of weeds or parts that have died back for a time while we tend other sections. We don't need to be perfectly manicured versions of our selves, we are changing messy systems who deserve the same love and pride as Alicia has for her garden (and i hope herself too!).
I tire of the eco-mother preaching of celebrities, but I'm genuinely happy for Alicia that she has had the fortune to have this beautiful garden, and I'm glad it has her.
There is such a difference between making your own garden, as Ms. Silverstone has, and having landscapers and gardeners come in. The results are not so pretty but much more real and you can see it is part of her and she is part of it. Thank you.

She’s AMAZING, I follow her on social media for years and she’s soooo humble , down to earth and genuinely one of the few yet realest celebrities out there , she’s not fake in personality, no plastic on her body, her garden and home are beautiful, I love the ideas❤ we NEED to see her in her own show , a new movie, something huge because if anyone deserves it, it would be her!!!
Real vegans are usually humble and real. Most of them are real nice. Only trending vegan celebrities or aggressive protestors/activists are the crazy ones to avoid.
The last movie I saw her in she graphically shot herself in the head within the first 5 minutes of the film.
I have always found her to be very thoughtful and kind to people and the environment.
This is the closest I've ever come to calling any house my dream house...but your layout ...garden rooms, the eclectic feel of your outdoor space comes really close to my illusive idea of a dream home and your sustainable choices! Love it💚🌿

Sadly, most of us can't do that because we have to wash/soak produce when we purchase it because of all the pesticides and herbicides. Straight from the soil in an organic garden would be amazing.
omg i love that she has a BEE HIVE! she really is working with a lot of the ground around her and even if she has a bigger house with maybe a bigger footprint than others you can tell she's making conscious choices for sure when it comes to what she uses to upgrade or maintain her house. love that she does compost and grey water watering too and all of those plants provide for her too. beautiful house!!

I have a teenage confession. I was born in the same year as Alicia. After watching Clueless 20 light years ago, I had a major crush on her. I must have watched the movie at least 20 times at the cinema. I once even snuck a voice recorder into the cinema to record the dialogue and could recite every line from the movie. Eventually I took a vacation to LA and Hollywood on the hope of meeting her and amongst other celebrities, discovering where she lived but unfortunately to no avail. Soon Alicia became a distant memory. Now, approaching 30 years later she pops back up into my life through the CZcams algorithm because of my recent searches of healthy eating. Wow! The little girl has grown up and she's so healthy, smart and still beautiful. I am privileged to see her house. What I'd dreamed about 30 years ago. Thank you for your advice on a green living and showing us how to better improve our health. I'm a born again fan and follower of Alicia❤

I have loved Alicia Silverstone ever since Clueless when I was a teen and then when her book The Kind Diet came out it changed my life in my early 20s and my perspective on eating and nature. Now in my 30s I have a family and children and glad to see she continues to be a real authentic wonderful soul that we are lucky to have as a public role model.
