09/20 UPDATE: Thanks for all the support! As some of you mentioned below, you can now shop Ruggable on Amazon, by clicking here: amzn.to/3lYiSPg Some of you are saying this is a good way to bypass the sketchy return policy. I haven't tried purchasing this way myself, but let us know if you do! We also FINALLY figured out how to fix the Ruggable curling -- you can watch how we fix it here: czcams.com/video/qVt2xl0upn8/video.html
One girl I just saw suggested to dry to dampness
Funny I never have had her problems. Ever. I just smooth the edges down and no problem. They feel fine to me. Love mine. I’m not sure about this review at all. Had mine for 2 years. Strongly disagree with this review. Just not my experience.
I have two Ruggables. I’ve had zero problem with edges curling. I’m just guessing, but folks who are having trouble with curling edges may be using higher dryer heat because they do take a while to dry. I dry mine on low heat, and they are completely flat. These rugs are a dream for anyone who has pets. I have four big dogs, and both rugs get a lot of traffic. They do not slide, they’re easy to vacuum, they get very clean in the wash, and they’re durable. I have no fraying or any signs of wear, and I’ve washed many times. Hope this helps.
this answered my question. thank u...by the way maybe it is just me but they seem toooo big to fit in a standard washer???
Ours fit in our standard washer and dryer. We did dry them on low heat, though, and they’ve curled like crazy. One of them was so bad that my wife pitched it (after tripping over it for the millionth time). The other one is getting pitched as soon as we receive the different rug we ordered to replace it, since it looks terrible now. We’re chalking this up to an expensive learning experience.
I have 3 medium-sized rugs (kinda big) for 3 years now, and I have a 4 year old German shepherd who plays on one rug 24/7, and it's SUPER durable and easy to clean! I haven't seen any signs of damage, and the fur/hair comes off easy. I wash mine on cool and cool dry. It still comes out damp, so I air dry it. When I used a hotter setting on the edges curled, I hadn't had that issue since I first bought them.
Thank you! I had gotten really serious about getting a ruggable, and the curling would be downright dangerous for my handicapped husband. Your video probably saved us from frustration and injury. Thank you for your honesty!
There is carpet tape to help with that
Thanks for not being just another influencer on CZcams.
This!!!!!
I have three ruggables. (2) 8x10 and (1). 10’ runner. Everything you outlined is EXACTLY how I feel. Spot on!! Thanks for making this for people.
I have 4. They do curl and I find them hard to vacuum with a dyson but I love the colors and variety. We washed one outside on our clothes line with a hose. It washed really well! Thanks for the video!
Do we need to buy ruggable rug pads or can we use pads for any other brand?
You need their pad because is a very special material- like a giant Velcro. It won’t stay out with anything else and it would just be like a blanket
We should all pay this girl for saving us a ton of money.
I love mine.
Same here.
This is strange my best friend has one and she's had it for a couple years and it doesnt do this. It's in a very high traffic area in her home. She raves about her rug and how she wants to get more.
Buy a REAL rug! These are just fabric thrown on the floor. They're a trip hazard and only look good in pictures. There's a reason why there are wool rugs that are hundreds of years old still in use. And ruggable is too expensive.
Ooff! I stumbled upon Ruggable today and thought the investment would be the answer to my 13 year old dog’s mobility needs.
He still loves sliding about the place but getting back up takes a little longer these days. Oak Abode thank you!
Thank you so much for this honest real review. The curling is exactly exactly what I was afraid of.
I am going to subscribe because honest reviews from homeowners are EXACTLY what I look to for decision making.
The curling has really been improved. I have one from a couple years ago and one from this year and it’s been improved a lot. For us with kids and pets they are well worth it
I really appreciate the real pros and cons and that it’s your opinion as well as what you’ve seen on other reviews and about the shipping time and the customer service problems. Also I really appreciate that you said that you found out there were quite a few other companies that sell washable rugs. Thank you so much
Great review! Almost 17 minutes and no fluff! The creasing is a huge no for me because my father is on crutches..wouldn't have known that with other reviews!
Thank you for an honest review. I've been shopping them for while but you are the first one to address the curling. Unfortunately that's a deal breaker for me, I trip on a flat surface enough lol. Better to know that now than to own $400 of regret.
Best product review I’ve ever seen. Honest, comprehensive, and informative. Ty!
Thank you for this. We are remodeling our home office/craft room and I was just about to pull the trigger on an 8x10 as we have big dogs, one of whom is geriatric. HOWEVER, my 86 year old mom also lives with us and uses a walker, so the curling issue will definitely be a big tripping/falling hazard. I so appreciate your candor!
Thank you SO much for your thorough and honest, non-sponsored review. Customer service is important and all your touch points convinced me NOT to shop there. I was going to buy three and now I'm going to stick to Lowe's rugs because 5 years ago I bought one there and it's still great even with three kids and three dogs!
I cannot thank you enough for your honest review. So many CZcamsrs now are doing paid promotions. Or, are sent free product without promise of a positve review, yet that situation creates pressure for one.
Thank you so much for being truthful. It really is refreshing
Thanks so much for this review. With an elderly person in our home having the curling issue could really present a safety issue.
Thank you for the candid review! This is exactly what I needed!
How awesome to find fully transparent review!! Thanks!!
Thank you for your honesty and transparency! The ends curling up and trip risk is a big no for me!
I've had my Ruggable rugs for over a year. I love them. When I saw the issue with the curling up edge I used some simple rug tape to hold down the edges & it works great! The biggest 'con' for me is that I'm a 66 year old senior living alone. Moving furniture to wash them and laying back down again after they are clean is a big challenge for me. I have no family in my area to assist so it's particularly difficult to manage the 8x10 size by myself. It's an all day job for me.
Are you able to wash the 8x10 in your washer? I feel like it won't fit in mine.
@@bk522 Yes, I am able to wash both rugs in my washing machine with each rug being a separate load.
Honestly I've only done it a couple of times because it's faster for me to go to the laundromat and be able to use their mega washing machines and wash them together as one load. Although I still dry them separately.
It's an all day job for me, and I'm not a senior! 8x10 really almost requires 2 people.
THANK YOU for making this video. I’ve been on the fence for a while and was literally JUST about to purchase but figured I’d watch some reviews first- I’m glad I started with yours.
Thanks for this! Was looking into getting a rug - like you said they're not the cheapest investment ever. The curling makes it an absolute no-go for me! Thanks for saving my sanity. :)
Thank you for your honesty, I am 65 years old, handicap, can’t afford a fall, might break a bone.
This review is brilliant. Thanks so much for being so thorough.
The most useful review, ever. Thanks!
This is the most honest review from anyone I’ve seen yet. I own 2 Ruggable rugs and the curling is a HUGE issue! They are beautiful no doubt but then they start curling after the first wash! I emailed and asked them about the curling and what to do and never got a response. This company could do so much better. How hard would it be to create a heavy border that can be attached underneath the rug edge via removable snaps? Someone in engineering needs to look into that. I won’t be purchasing anything else from ruggable and that’s sad because their designs are kick ass.
Try the velcro tape with the sticky back side, wonder if that would help with curling also I read use low heat to dry
Did the curling start only after you washed it the first time?
I have to say, I love my ruggable rugs! I have a runner on my hardwood and an 8x10 on carpet in my living room. From they day I ordered to the day it was delivered was 2 weeks. I haven’t had any curling and wash mine about once a month with having 3 dogs and a toddler. However, the return fee does suck. I ordered one and decided I didn’t like the pattern. I knew I couldn’t cancel it but I figured I could return it. I never even cut the tape off the box and they still wanted $30+ to ship it back and charged me a restocking fee...when it wasn’t even opened. So I decided to just post it on social media and it sold right away. People don’t like the wait time for shipping so posting a brand new rug for someone to get same day is a great solution to the shipping fee. I would buy these a million times over! They also just came out with a more plush under pad for the rug to give it that plush, squishy feel without having to deal with having a thick high pile rug. Worth the money in my opinion!
Do you still like your rugs and how do you dry it?
Thank you for this review! I wondered about the edge curling, and knew it was a deal breaker just from seeing the edge on yours. As our population gets older, one thing a community nurse will look for in a patient's home is rugs with curling edges...BIG fall risk. Your video is very helpful in addressing this.
Thank you for your honesty! I bought a small one over year ago and returned it because not liking color. I disliked the cost to return. Best review and saved me from buying a large area rug for new home based on your cons.
This is awesome! I needed this info and it is very useful. Thanks for taking the time to do this and for being so thorough. All the things we wish we could know about online purchases. Greatness!
Thank you for your honesty. Your detailed review is fantastic!
So glad I found this. I was really tempted. I’ll just stick with indoor/outdoor rugs. I can hose them down on my deck.
This really helps. Thank you for your honest review.
This couldn't have been posted at a more perfect time. Thanks for the honesty, may have saved our home from some heartbreak in the rug dept. Keep up the good work!
I’m so happy to hear you found it helpful!! Wishing you the best on your search for the perfect rug for your home!
Quarter Castle ditto!
She highly recommended them.. why did it save you? I have two of them, and we agree, never going back. They are awesome. In regards to the curling, make sure the rug is installed correctly, not saying hers isn’t but our kinda curled up like that and if you have them attached to the pad underneath the curling won’t happen. Just another honest opinion. They are great.
@@TheHouser21 the curling would have been an issue for me and my roomba. I actually have 3 now and one of them still gets caught in the roomba because the pad is much shorter than the rug.
I'm skeptical but your points aided my skepticism, the curling edges would drive me nuts . Awesome video btw
This was soooo helpful, thank you!! I can only imagine that you’d need a large washing and drying machines to clean them too!
thanks for the honest review!
Thank you so much for this review! You have stopped me from making a bad purchase. The curling issue would drive me CRAZY!
thank you for this useful review. the curling problem was my exact concern
Oh man, I was looking at these rugs. The curling up is a deal killer for me. I just can't stand that.
Tripping hazard for me. But I really liked the idea of washable and I saw a design I really loved.
Margaret Merton yeah, I’m holding off for now
I had a ruggable in my shopping cart. After hearing about the curling edges I decided against purchasing it.
These rugs are a disaster after a few months. Don't buy. The curling issue is a nightmare. I've decided to throw mine out they are so bad. Turned out they are disposable rugs.
I've had mine for almost a year. It doesn't curl up.
My husband and I made the mistake of buying a 9 x 12 Ruggable rug. At first I really liked it. The rug itself was really pretty and I personally prefer low pile rugs. One problem we had right away was that neither of our vacuum cleaners work on it. We tried several settings, but either the setting just wouldn't suck up the dirt and pet hair or it would suck the rug off of the rug pad. The only thing that works on it is a rubber carpet scrubber- and for a 9 x 12 rug this hard work especially since this was supposed to have been a rug to make our lives easier.
So far, I have washed the rug once. It's a hassle to try to do with one person since the rug itself is pretty heavy, but then it never really dried in the dryer. I ran it through at least five times and it was still VERY damp. Finally my husband and I just put it back on the pad (a big pain in the rear getting it realigned) wet. This was late in the evening since my attempts to dry it had taken the better part of the day and the next morning when we got up the entire house smelled like mildewy towels. The rug did dry over night but after washing, it now feels oily which I do not enjoy. The smell took about three days to dissipate (if you put your nose to the close to the floor it still stinks) and I'm considering rewashing it and laying it out in the sun, but my god the labor and hassle involved makes me dread it. I think these rugs would be great in smaller sizes. I would not recommend the largest size. I would have much rather dealt with the constant steam cleaning like we used to do with our old rugs. This rug has been a nightmare.
Thank you so much. I appreciate your honesty. Although I purchased two rugs already but I haven't received them yet. I pray that my rug doesn't curl that much, but since I have two fur babies and one is a senior, and I have spent so much money on area rugs, it won't be a deal breaker for me. At least now I know to look out for the curling. Love your babies. Thank you.
I’m buying one, but honestly I keep looking at your beautiful dogs! ❤️🐾🐾❤️ Thank you for your great review...
I have several of these rugs and LOVE them. No curling problems, vacuum easily. All my neighbors have bought them and not had any issues that I know of. Great designs, I swap them out for the holidays and I feel that I have totally redecorated. We have a robot vacuum and it goes right over and it and never gets hung up.
Do you still like your rugs and how do you dry them?
I recently received my Ruggable for my dinning room which is rarely used. I chose the rug for the the color and design. I didn’t want a plush rug under the dining room table and don’t plan on washing it unless absolutely necessary because of the curling issue. So far I love it. After comparing the prices of rugs at furniture stores Ruggable is very affordable. Thanks for your review! Your dogs are too cute!
SO glad I found this review before hitting “buy now” from my cart. Curling edges & corners is a deal breaker for me. Especially having pets...I find that curled edges makes pets curious to go under or mess with the rug. Moving on and looking for something else!
Yes.. deal breaker for me as well. They are not cheap.. so why bother when you will likely be throwing them out anyway.
My traditional rug started to curl... I steamed it.. I have one of those little hand held steamers... it works perfectly! I bet it would work for this also.
Yes, someone on FB also said she steams the corners. 😀👍🏻
Thanks for your unbiased review. It has helped make my decision. I also have 2 dogs and purchase area 5x7 area rugs basically to protect my hardwood floors but the curling issue will probably cause me injuries!
Fabulous review. I appreciate your thoroughness. You have helped me make a decsion on my rug. And, you are great in you presentation. Thanks so much!
Thanks for the excellent Ruggable review videos. You’ve helped me make up my mind. 😊
This was a great review! We are considering Ruggables and appreciate knowing the pros and cons if we get them.
I am glad I watched this review. I was considering a Ruggable for the kitchen and bedroom, but the “curling “ would drive me up the walls!
Thank you for your honesty and thoroughness! Very helpful!
Thank you for the well thought out and honest review. Love your "fur" babies! 🐶
Oh thank you! We love them too! ❤️
Thank you sooo much for the honest review !! I am thinking of getting one and now I feel so relieved that I won’t be caught by surprise.
Thanks for watching Abigail!
Yes.. at least you will not be caught by surprise when it arrives thinner than you expected.. and the corners and edges start curling up. 😢 SERIOUSLY? You still want to waste your money on one of these things after seeing this video? Just get a traditional rug and have it cleaned as needed. It will last longer and you will be much happier in the long run.
Thank you soooo much for the super honest review!!
I REALLY APPRECIATE the totally honest review! With all the pros and cons, its most practical if you have a couple of big dogs.
thank you for a really balanced review. I was so glad to find a REAL REVIEW, and not all the usual promotion. You won a subscription by this.
Your comments are spot on. I have 3 3x5 ruggables. After a while the cons will prevent me from ever getting another one. Thank you for the great review.
Thank you. This is the most honest review that I have ever watched.
Thank you! I was on the fence about these. We don’t have dogs, but spills happen! The shipping time and curling will steer me back to wool. You saved me hundreds of dollars!!
The fact that it curls is enough for me to say no. I see it as a tripping hazard.
Same here ! I am pretty accident prone and disabled so this is a no from me .
You can always tape them down
@@EmDeePhotography for that price you shouldn’t have to though 😕
@@EmDeePhotography you’d have to tape it after every wash
Hopefully they expand the underlayment to match up completely
Thanks so much for this! You basically answered every question I had.
Thank you so very much for this honest review. It was very helpful. I’ll be waiting to see if the company corrects its quality and customer service issues. Glad you like yours and your pups are adorable.
Thank you so much! I wish we could find more people like you on the internet.
I do not know how i stubbled on to your video but I was impressed with your bubbly honest personality. Keep it up and happy trails!
Thank you for this video and your honesty 🙏🏻
I pass my steamer over them and then the curl releases.....
Every now and then I use a super light double sided sticky tape to keep the edges down! My real Persians so it too, especially after washing! I leave mine in the sun for a day and the heat relaxes the fabric as well, just works for me....
Thank you for the tips!
Would an iron work?
Audrey Clément not to use directly on the rug, but the steam from a good iron would likely work. I used my Rowenta steamer but my rowenta iron has a pretty good steam setting, just don’t use a hot iron directly on the rug. 😊
I got mine this week & it came quickly after ordering. I ordered a runner & I love it. I have it under my double sink vanity to stand on. It feels cool & not super squishy under my feet but I’m thrilled with how it looks & that I can wash it considering it’s in my bathroom. I hope it doesn’t curl so I’ll watch for that. I feel it’s worth it since having rugs cleaned is very expensive
I've never had curling issues at all with my 3 rugs
This was super helpful. Thank you so much!
I’m currently dealing with the curling and my husband wants to buy different rugs after buying FIVE of these for our new home! I think the reviews are from new rug owners, like me who reviewed immediately, before doomsday set in. Glad to know I’m not alone! Spot on review.
Can you try carpet tape? Someone said on FaceBook that that worked with her Ruggables. Another person steams her corners.
Thank you for the indepth and thoughtful review.
Thank you for taking the time to create the review. I’m sure it helps thousands of potential buyers see a clearer picture. I was about to purchase four 8x10 Ruggables. After your review my wife and I decided to pass. Thanks again!
Thanks for your evaluation....have been considering and needed your complete evaluation.
Super helpful!! Thank you for the honest and detailed review! I watched this after purchasing mine. And with a stinky doggie I am pretty pleased with it. But yes the rolling up of the edges drives me NUTS! If you have a hack, please share it with us!
I really appreciate your honest review! This was very helpful. The curling edges would drive me crazy and not having good customer service. Thank you for this.
The curling is maddening!!! I am going to try and 'wash' my ruggable on the floor with a bissel crosswave.
Thank you for this review. We have been wondering about these rugs.
I'm glad I saw this video. The curling would drive my ocd mental. I am sure it would be better on the runners...I'm hoping to use these sparingly in some high traffic areas but hate low pile carpet...
I totally agree about the ick factor especially with wall to wall carpeting. I can't wait to get rid of ours. However, I just want to say that when you shell out for a good quality wool rug, one of the perks is that they really are very resistant to stains and dirt. They stay pretty clean with some vacuuming and beating every now and then.
Thank you so much for your honesty, it's very much appreciated!
Was getting ready to order because of some of the beautiful patterns. Thank you so so much for saving me time, money and safety concerns. Great review!!! I’m writing this in 2020 pandemic era in the US. Shipping could take even longer now, no matter what the company says.
Awesome video ! I would be nuts about the curling edge for sure
I've never had the curling up issue with any of my rugs. I LOVE my ruggable rugs especially with dogs & kids
I have one and have no problems with corners lifting. I had one from Wayfair and THAT runner didn't stay here long - it never uncurled. On the other hand - I bought a heavier one for front foyer - amazing.
Thanks for the objective review! i was ready to order, but like others, the curling issue is something i wouldn't be able to deal with.
Thanks for your honesty.
Rolled up edges are DANGEROUS!
Not a joke!
Especially if someone trips and ends up hitting themselves on furnishings!
Appreciate the review. Sometimes I’d have to rewind, because I was too busy watching your super cute pups and wasn’t paying attention to you LOL!!🥰🐾🐾🦴
Hands down agree with all points you made. We have only had ours 3 months and this is our experience after about 2 months
I just saw the ad on Facebook, I never new about this.. the curling will drive me mad and that’s a trip hazard especially for the elderly and cluts like me
Excellent review! Thorough and well said. Thank you.
Great vid. Thanks for saving me the headache and the $399 I was about to spend on a Ruggable. Surely they are aware of the curling problem and yet they don’t disclose that anywhere on their site.
I just received my Ruggable Rug. I received it in less than a week after ordering. They do have an upgraded rug pad that makes your rug plush. That is an upgrade so it’s extra but I ordered the rug with the standard pad because I put it in my dining room and needed my chairs to be able to slide easily. So the standard is included in the rug price. That’s all I can think of at the moment to help out with the cons. I love mine!! I ordered two at the same time and like I said above I did receive mine in less than a week. 🥰
Thank you for making this video! I have been on the fence for awhile. They charge $75 shipping to Hawaii for a small runner which is twice the price of what UPS quoted me. That seemed strange, but the curling is a deal breaker. I would be so upset spending $220 on a runner for it to curl, especially in the kitchen. Thanks again! Great video! I also wanted to add that I appreciate the very little "mouth noises" in the video. It might seem really strange, but for some people who deal with misophonia, its basically impossible to watch video reviews with all the lip smacking and spit noises.
Haha! I love your dogs:) Thank you for your honest review!
Thanks so much! I haven't looked into reviews yet, but I will now! I was definitely thinking about getting 2 of these. Hmmmmm
Thank you so much. I have been debating on investing in a Ruggable. This helps me make an informed decision. Also watched your Ruggable update. 👍
I have had my 3 year old 8x10' ruggable in my dining room, which is also the path to my kitchen so it gets a lot of use, and i have never had a problem with edge curling. Once in awhile the corner will flip up, but if I put it back down it goes down completely flat. I haven't washed it yet, but I vacuum regularly. I got some watercolor paint on it and just hand washed that part of the rug and the color came out easily. I also really like that the rugs and pads are USA manufactured. I got my 3x5' rug that I just ordered this week within a few days.
Thank you for your honest and informative review! Helped me alot
Thank you so much for an honest review. I wish you'd have mentioned how scratchy the pad is and that while the rug is in the wash, the pad is going to collect fur and not give it up!
Luckydog Sanctuary thanks for commenting this! I have shedding dogs, this could be a deal breaker
