I personally weight train and have seen all sorts of people at the gym. Guess what? The men there are just as clueless about weight training as you are! Mobility is super underrated. When I was a beginner it felt as if everyone always focused so much on adding more weight. I didn't pay much attention to stretching and mobility work bc I felt like I should use that time to do more reps/sets.
    Then I realise that every GOOD / respectable lifter I follow put mobility on high priority. Definitely wish I can go back to focus more on this earlier!

    Wonderful tips, nothing to say. I would just add one more tip:
    -try and perfectionate the routine that you personally enjoy the most. Loving what you do and being able to stick with the habit is more important than doing the perfect gym routine for three months and then let it go because you hate and don't enjoy it.

I was solely dedicated on losing weight when I first started my fitness journey so progressive overload wasn't even on my mind, now I feel inspired to actually begin weightlifting to actually get stronger. Especially seeing as I was just trying to look leaner and not focusing on performance... I'm excited to start!!

    New sub! Last month, I just started going to the gym 3 times a week and have kept it up surprisingly after years of failed attempts. Im 29 204 lbs 5 3 and I ONLY do weights when I go. I’m top heavy so I hate cardio 😄Weight training was the only way I wouldn’t t dread going to the gym each day. I haven’t lost weight (still working out my meal plan) but I have lost inches 3 inches overall, it’s not much but it’s enough to keep me motivated to keep at it. Plus I feel much stronger, I’ve been progressive lifting💪🏽. I decided last week I will train like a baby power lifter lol so I’m super glad I found your channel.

Totallllyyy intimidated. I joined the gym, because of you last week, been watching everything you have out there and I went today, but only did cardio like a hampster... I walked around lost, and even stared down the weight area, and said ... I will enter tomorrow... lol... terrified and lost.... this video PERRRRRRFECT timing.... I LOVE YOU!!!! One thing I did to feel less intimidated was put my headphones in, turn up my music REALLY loudly, and keep my eyes focused on the floor or directly ahead of me. Biggest and hardest thing for me was to not make eye contact. The goal with this was to help me feel like I was the only one in the room, and it honestly worked!
      I know this won't work for everyone, but after a few weeks in the gym I was able to look people in the eye and nod a "Hello" because I felt more like I belonged there. And we DO belong there! We just tend to get it in our heads that we don't lol. Best of luck!

    I can't afford a gym right now and I'm not sure I have room for a barbell in my apartment, but I'm so eager and nervous to pick one up! The heaviest weight I have at home is 25lbs. Thanks for being a badass role model!!♥️♥️♥️💪💪💪

    Definitely wish I knew this stuff before I started lifting. Plus I think people that want to get toned should be using progressive overload they just don’t know what that is.
    Loved your eye look and sports bra too- side note :)

    Hi new subscriber here and I guess beginner as well. I used to lift many years ago and just recently got back into it. Thanks for sharing your tips. I have a question. Can I lift in a fasted state? I've seen arguments for yes and no. Reason being first thing in the morning is the most convenient for me to go to the gym before starting my work day. But I am doing intermittent fasting and don't eat/drink anything before 9am.

    Great tips I’m definitely going to try all of this out ! Also I recently started taking in a bunch of protein and before I knew anything about it I used to think it’ll make me “fat”(ik Dumb) lol but it made me lose weight faster than anything I was doing before cause I was able to lift heavier and last longer lifting weights rather than before were I was avoiding protein and I was basically skinny unable to go harder in the gym Etc 😭

      Hi it's great to read this comment because I felt like I was the only one who knew I should get more protein but was still resisting. I finally started getting enough (140+) a few weeks ago and I can feel the difference. I was getting stronger before but now I'm getting stronger and leaner.

      @nakiamarion1045 Před 3 lety +1

      I've taken body pump classes at my local YMCA and it's definitely a strength training class. You can progressively overload in those classes if you're consistent. I gained strength taking those classes a few years ago and it made me want to get more into lifting weights. I think it's a great way to get into strength training in a supportive environment. Plus there's an instructor so the program is set for you already and it's a full body workout which is great.
