Just started lifting. Wish me luck 🍀🙏🏽😤 let’s go ladies
Good luck ! U got this
Go girl!!! You won’t regret it 💗
Welcome!! 🖤
You got this!
Me too! We’ve got this sis!
So true. I am a 45-year-old woman who has fibromyalgia. I decided weight-lifting would motivate me. I learned to do the standing barbell and dumbbell strict overhead press. I just did 95 pounds on barbell! It relieves my shoulder pain so much! I now take less pain medication. I had to start somewhere.
I started going to the gym two months ago and I only spend 15-20 min weight training. It’s not a lot but because it’s not a lot of time I’ve been consistently doing the 3x a week and have started to see changes :)
What exercises ??
I started lifting two months ago…literally did not know it was an actual sport, lol. Now, I am loving getting stronger and watching my body change. I can’t wait to be more confident and comfortable in the gym! I would be lost without my trainer!!
I once heard "the best time to start is now." And it really helped me to start my fitness journey for sure!!
You got this!
@@meatisboring1708 thanks so much! 😆 It's been like 2 years since I started weightlifting 👏
Love the tip about combo movements! I struggled with this for years where I felt like I wasn’t getting anywhere while being told that these combo movements get you “more bang for your buck” because you can do more than one move at a time when really it takes me just as long to do a combo as to do them individually. It’s very prevalent in fitness classes, same with doing like 50 reps rather than lower reps with heavier weights
My workplace thankfully has a small gym for free, and ive always been nervous to go lift because i work with mostly guys and its just intimidating. But today i went while no one else was there and my brother showed me how to do my first few sets of bench! I have the upper body strength of a cube of jello so i only got up to a few lifts at 55lbs, but hey! I enjoyed it more than i thought i would! Just discovered your channel and hope to learn more here!
Hey Mama! Congratulations! I can't tell you how much you e helped me with my anxiety . I worked incredibly hard for the body I have (after 8 years of battling eating disorders) before finding my love for fitness. I had muscles and a flat tummy and was more conditioned that half my militaryco workers. I'm 33weeks pregnant and I ve been terrified of my post baby body. I just need to stay positive and enjoy my body for what it can do and build up like I did before. Thank you for keeping me going.
If you get back into shape but still have loose skin . Don't worry. You can do microneedling to diminish marks and tighten skin . Also I just used a plasma pen on my stomach and I'm waiting for the skin tightening results .
Congrats on the pregnancy! Just remember it took 9 months to create your beautiful bundle of joy. Don’t rush to lose the baby weight it’ll come off naturally, eat right and exercise light until the OBGYN clears you. Your counterparts will try to give you shit for not being able to PT right away. I am telling you to listen to your body and listen to the doc. You got this!
@@BatGrlJ thank you ! 🤗
You’ll be fine, remember consistence is the key!
I'm a little late to the party. You're probably already on your journey back to your pre-pregnancy body. I just wanted to share my story to hopefully encourage you. I gained about 60 pounds while pregnant in the military and ended up losing 70 after, just from regular PT and running a few times a week. I was also 22. In any case, I know you'll get there! You probably already are and if you're not exactly where you were just know that our bodies change after a baby and we'll never be exactly where we were. You had a headstart by working out before the baby
Love, love, love. Thank you so much Meg! Joined the "Before the Barbell" and it's amazing!
I really needed to hear tip #1! I realized this year that I have gotten into a bad habit of only running a strength program in the cycling off season. I'm committing now to picking up the barbell for an entire year.
Let's take a moment to recognize how awesome it is that, being only comfortable performing one lift, Meg was doing the squat -- the most technical, non-Oly lift.
I cannot overstate how approachable and friendly your videos are and how much I 💖 them!
Up until a month ago, I’ve been working out 4 days a week for 2.5 years and haven’t seen any major results. Why?! Because I was solely reliant on workout videos. Never did anything else. I’m so glad I ditched the videos and just focused on a plan with sets and reps and more weights. It’s made a difference in a just a month, a small difference but bigger than in the 2.5 years.
Did you work out in a gym or at home only?
@@thlp6872 I was actually going to come back and make that edit. I worked at home solely, just following videos and never adding too much weight(my body weight plus maybe 6lbs). Never had time for a gym and when I finally did, COVID hit. I am considering joining next month but I’m still concerned about being in an enclosed place where there’s lot of heavy breathing for so long.
You can get major results using workout videos. The key is to make sure that you are being progressive. Start with two lb weights and as they get easier, switch to heavier weights. Any weight you use should exhaust your muscle after 12 reps. If it doesn't, don't do more reps; increase the weight.
Unfortunately I don’t have time to get to the gym but I’ve seen huge progress with home workouts on CZcams. BUT I use heavier weight and progress. I use anywhere from 10 to 30 pound dumbells. I have a few smaller free weights and then I have an adjustable set of dumbells that adjust from 5-55 pounds and having the ability to progress weight makes a huge difference.
Im sure i would progress even more at the gym but unfortunately my life doesn’t allow for that right now. Hopefully in the future when my kids are a little older.
Just started lifting … I’m scared I won’t see progress. Cheers to staying consistent!!👍🏻
I just found you! You’re awesome and so inspirational! I’m 52 and just started strength training. I’m so excited to watch your videos! 💕❤️
Unrelated, but the color of your hair, the cut, the style, the texture? Slays. 10/10
Wow so glad I found your channel. Super realistic and honest . Congrats on the baby !!!
Binged on hours of your videos! Amazing information and transparency! Much appreciated for giving positive motivation to your community! Getting ready to start my weightlifting journey. Thank you, and continued success for your journey and future! 🏆👍😁
Congrats on the baby! Well done video, great advice. Love the Porsche in the background. Respect!
So informative! Thank you Meg 💗
Hi Meg. Can I just say, I looked up lifting belt review videos and your channel popped up. I watched your equipment vid and was instantly drawn to your personality as you seem extremely genuine. You’ve got a new follower and definitely checking out your brand for equipment!! Thanks for the info and btw, you look amazing for being 3 weeks postpartum here.
Hey, congrats on the baby! This video is perfect for me...I'm 8 weeks postpartum and feel great but was starting to get a little bummed about my strength level...which is low right now. Pre-pregnancy I was in better shape than I had been for years and this was helpful in motivating me to get it back. Thanks!
You're a phenomenal teacher. Like you just went into the garage, said a million brilliant things all the while seeming effortless
Love your videos. Been consistently going to gym for a month now and I’m not afraid to lift heavy anymore 💪🏾 happy to be a #strongstrongfriend 😊 and Emerald is 🥰
Woa Meg! I remember watching your old videos of only squatting and thought “I wanna be strong like her.” You have kept me motivated and entertained (media content) for years now! Love that you took me along on your journey of fitness and now I can see a small part of your family etc.
-anyone else remember the “road to 300lb back squat?- hit the thumbs
You've been around for awhile!
How have you been training too since following.. do you feel strong now 😁
Just wanna say that I appreciate you, Meg! I am a Before The Barbell Babe, and had to stop right now since we're on a lockdown and gyms are closed. I used to fear the barbell so much, but right now I can't wait to go back and be stronger!
I spent years and years doing all the fun workout videos on CZcams. I got no result until I started lifting last year. My glutes increased by 4 cm. My belly decreased by 4 cm. I agreed with all tips she said. If you want to change body shapes, you need to have a program with progressive overload and a good technique.
wow good job. would you mind to share what exercise are you doing?
Thank you for putting a million takes of you bailing out of a squat I love your realism!
The best tips that I have ever heard! So glad you didn't sugar- coat anything. There's some crazy exercising going on online and I worry people will get injured, then get down on themselves and give up. Keep it simple!! You have been instrumental in my lifting journey. Thank you for ALL you do!
Yay, another fitness influencer giving GOOD advice! 💜
Love hearing you talk about lifting.
Tip #4 has been my biggest stuck point at times. As a former competitor I don’t know how to not have a goal/plan yet as a mom and 5 months preg it has been harder to find time to do the program I want. Thankfully I found peloton’s strength and cardio workouts so at least I can fit it into my schedule even if it’s not specific.
Tip #2 was literally about to start doing stuff like that. Neverrrrr thought about that
Tip #1 is the best tip I've heard after months and hours of watching other YT fitness professionals. Sorry I haven't subscribed earlier, you are a game changer. Thank you!
I had to pause the video to say you are absolutely stunning! Okay, back to the video I go lol.
This is what I needed to get back to Weightlifting. Started about a month ago and stopped due to emotional and physical obstacles.
Yes please! Mentality and habits too.
I know this comment is about a year later but I must tell you that you have no idea how much you have encouraged and motivated me. I am 53 yrs old and have had major health issues such as ….A heart attack, a brain tumor, a cyst in my brain as well, a fatty liver because I was once an alcoholic which today makes one year and six months sober!🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻 and I am not ashamed one bit to say this.
I used to be 237 pounds and now I am 177. I am a carnivore and it was the best thing that I’ve ever done in my life and the change in my health was dramatic. I just started putting equipment in my garage and I came across your video and let me tell you I feel ready to do this. I’m not really trying to strength train but I definitely would love to tone up and my goal is that before I die I want a six pack and I don’t mean beer! 🍺😂
I must tell you that you are absolutely beautiful and you look absolutely amazing!!!!!! If I could take my head and put it on your body I would most definitely but my wife might probably find that weird!😂😂😂
Anyways I have now subscribed to your channel and look forward to watching all your videos keep up the great work and thank you so much for the motivation🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
Just started lifting 💪thanks ❤for sharing!!
Much love all the way from indonesia! Your videos help me so much during my journey! Also congratulations on your babyyy
Been following your program for months now and my husband and I always get stopped and asked for tips... I just recommend following you 👍😀
Incredible! You and your husband must be looking like pros now too !
Congratulations on your beautiful baby!…. Thanks for the Upload 🙏🏽❤️🌞
I loved this video! Thank you !
I love simple, and I've never met any trainer who wants to stick to simple. They always want to be fancy and all I want is stupid simple exercises. I love what you said here and I am subscribing and signing up to your program.
We were without power for 36 hours during that storm and we all had to sleep in the living room by the fire. It was like 16 degrees in our kitchen😭. Good tips, what I was looking for! Thank you!
Top #4 🙋🏻♀️ is me. I’ve always searched Instagram for fun looking workouts because i get bored fast. This hasn’t been working for me as far as my goals. I’ve been trying to get leaner & gain more muscle. Just watched your recomp video and now know what I gotta do 👍🏼
I've found that learning off youtube is by far more beneficial
Thanks for sharing 💕
Awww, you miss lifting. Those are the faces I made when my gym was closed due to Covid. Thanks for this video! 💕
"Only one thing", I really needed to hear that. I feel like I need to know everything before I can share the one thing I know.
Great tips! I especially liked tip #1
Really glad you said a lot of people cant do a barbell right away. I bought an Olympic 45lb barbell about a month ago and boy is it a struggle. BUT I can do deadlifts, bench presses, and squats with it. Just ordered four 2.5lb weight plates for it!
Love that Old Glory is displayed in the background of your gym 🇺🇸❤
Today was day one of lifting. Regression style 🤣. I cannot wait to utilize this info. Tomorrow morning, LET'S GOOOOOOO!!! 🏃🏾♀️
Love this video.
I really enjoy your videos. I'm just starting my lifting journey and your videos are definitely helping my confidence. Just a shout out to say thank you.
Great job to you! Have you been getting more comfortable in the gym now :)
Your so authentic, love it. My wife will love your videos.
The explanation of the Buff Reds was really helpful, can you do a video on the other supplements? I'm lost on what each supplement provides and which would help most with recovery and obviously the gains haha. Also are greens and reds worth the money if you're also on a multivitamin or are those unrelated? PS. LOVE your content! I've been lifting for about a year and have decided to do my first competition in December! Just got my first belt from Strong Strong Supply last week which helped with some new PRs! :D
How long of a rest break should i take ?
I am 15 years old and trying to throw 100 mph
Tip #1 is exactly what I need right now.
Omg…the combo was all I’ve been doing and no wonder it didn’t work!! Glad I found you!
This is absolutely nuts but I think it’s totally going to get me back in the gym. Pick an exercise I feel comfortable doing and start their. Thank you!!
How have you gone..? I hope you're going strong 😄
Oh congrats!!! I didn't realize you already had your baby!!!
I’m only six months into my lifting program so everything you offer is helpful for me. Thanks!
That's incredible, what changes have you seen?
Literally clicked this video because I started lifting AND your arms in the thumbnail omg! 💪🏻💪🏻💪🏻❤️❤️❤️
new to the channel but really liking it so far! i was looking for more vids to prime my brain towards training again. personal stuff had me out of state and i lost hold of my regimen a few weeks after i got back to to MORE other stuff.
one thing i struggle with is exercise intolerance. like, i got pumped, was doing a 4x schedule at gym, basically all my weights, split into 2 days then repeat. but it won't be sustainable. after a certain point i just start feeling TIRED and then no longer recover. it's frustrating... and it wasn't diet, hydration, etc. and i've even switched it to be every OTHER day to get more rest. and then dropped to 3 days. and it's like NOPE. idk if by the time i feel tired, any changes won't really help. (guess i could start up again on 3 or 2)
anyway it helps to watch vids, just to get in the headspace by listening to others talk about this stuff. and i was looking for someone more focused on the mechanics, diet, talking about stuff, than the type of influencers that are ego-puffing and narcissistic.
so, i'm glad to have found your channel. congrats on le bébé, though it's been a whole year now. lol!!!
New to your channel and lifting. It’s been so long since i’ve listened to a woman that sounds so normal and eloquent but also relaxed and funny. Liked your channel very much.
Wonderful advice! Start!
thats it!i think ive finally found my fav youtube channel!
This is perfect! Lord knows I could’ve used this years ago. I was 129lbs (cringe) and it took me forever to gain but now I sit at 175! Always enjoy the content Meg you’re a true inspiration!
wasnt really cringe everyone starts at one point be happy youv done it (=
Meg, I have been lifting steadily for five years now. I have packed on muscle, excess weight, got leaner and had a baby, breast fed and came back to train. With that said, you can't be anymore right. True FACTS. I have never competed, just because I am scared I am not good enough. But this video makes perfect sense now that I see how my journey has transformed into what it is today.
Recently stumbled across your channel. You are so adorable 🥰 . The tips shared here are very helpful ✨
These are actually amazing tips, thanks so much!
You’re the first person to talk about the cool looking fancy combination moves we keep seeing as not the best way to build strength. It makes a lot of sense.
Love this one too, it's not fancy but the essential and fundamentals are always key
Thank you for this video! You are a superwoman. Even still making videos to help us in between feeding your baby 😍 I know it's hard to do anything. You're killing it! Thank you 🔥
Love it. Thanks for the tips. What are the floor covers please? Are they soft foam or high density rubber or even metal? Thanks much.
This mumma is on fire 🔥 what a woman 💪🏻 👑
The cool/fun aspect can help motivation, interest, and consistency.
E.g., since I started mixing in calisthenics movements with lifting weights , it keeps me.more excited about it. Muscle ups, etc
Meg when I squat I get lower back pain and I cant train for the rest of the week! but I really want to train for strength and Im trying super hard but I swear... the squat is sooo much more difficult than anything else. I weigh 233 lbs and Im only able to squat about 180 due to the back pain. I'm probably lifting with the front of my foot or rounding my back... but I just cant put my figure on it Im trying so hard. What do I do? in pain and discouraged. Is a velcro belt worth the buy? I see people with those big bulky belts and they look extra intimidating
Oomg i have the love to swaddle sleep sack as well🤣🤣saved our sanity, sleep😂
This might've been nine months ago, but I'm starting my journey now!! Young ladies can do it too! 🤩✨
Feeling inspired after your video
If we are using your program, do you offer paid consultations/ private sessions?
New subscriber I’m a beginner wish me luck 😀 love your videos!!
Congratulations on your baby!!!!
feeling so foreign in my own body. wow! it's like you're in my head. always great to see your tips! Tips for staying so positive like you? do you have a spotify mix of the music you bump for workouts?
Meg I agree you on all 5 of your tips.
Just have to say real quick, I love your orange hair!!
Congrats mama❤️
Love your videos, I jave been lifting for 2 months and my thighs have grown but now I notice my cellulite more than ever, will that go away as I get stronger and keep losing fat?
Thanks for the great tips! You look like a combination of Julia Roberts and Adele, lovely!
Meg what is that thing you used to stir the drink? I need that.
CZcams algorithm is annoying. So many channels I'm subscribed to but never show up in my feed such as yours.
I had to actually search your channel for it to start showing up. Trying to get my wife into lifting with me. She's also post partum and feeling pretty bad about her body
Love your vids! But I was dying at you forgetting the name for a Smith Machine given your gym experience. 😂 Overall, great tips!
I've noticed that it's much easier for me to feel the muscles and correct the form when I have some weights on, light enough to move easily but heavy enough to feel the resistance. So, I use it as a part of a warm up🤷🏻♀️
Turning the camera round to show us those coolers was the coolest thing ever Meg. 😀
And I know you might not believe this, but you look amazing right now. And I'm not saying that because I think I'm bigger than you are or think you're fitter than I am. You really, really, really, look, so healthy. And I'm glad I saw this video because I can finally give up this idea conscious or subconscious, of losing "the last 5 kilos" - whatever that is... there's always a last 5 kilos, when I was 85 there was a last 5 kilos, I'm 80, there's a last 5 kilos, when I'm 75 there will probably be a last 5 kilos (I'm 6'1)...
I don't want to lose more kilos, I want to look exactly the way you do, right now, glowing, healthy, beautiful, vibrant, glowing, did I say glowing?...
Oddly enough - I'm having a tough time creating a routine that does not include lifting weights.Doctor's orders, max weight I can use is 3 kg. I would love it if you could share any advice on this topic. Love your videos ❤️
I do have a bodyweight version of stronger by the day, but would caution since we still use bodyweight and banded resistance. 3kg is pretty light weight... and many bodyweight movements would exceed 3kg of resistance. I would ask for more guidance in the 3kg limit from your doctor - or perhaps for a referral to a physical therapist if you're able to!
You own Buff Chick!?? No way! I sampled it at The Arnold this year and really liked the pre workout flavors. 👍😊 Very good, and good ingredients!
Beginner series and playlist from MegSquats yayyyyyy 😬😬😬😬😬
Started lifting again after 2yrs... So sore. So happy I started! Did the worst, ugliest dead lifts ever! But I did 'em! Yisss.
You look amazing!!
I am due any day for baby #4. Have been feeling very out of shape and weak since I stopped working out at 17 weeks. I will def. Be binge watching your videos while breastfeeding in the near future!!
