Rebuilding An Old Wooden Fly Fishing Drift Boat | BLC Project: Wooden Drift Boat

- Last week we took our New-2-U drift boat on an inaugural float to see how bad it really was.
The answer? Pretty bad. A lot of work was needed if we wanted to keep using this thing.
We sanded, fiberglassed, painted, and with the help of a lot of marine epoxy we had a boat in working order!
Stay tuned next week for Episode 3 where we take the boat to float a famous western trout river to put the build to the test!

I love to see old boats brought back to life….and Hi Pete!
....probably wont even get to fish in it ever. It's fine, I'm fine.
After having done a few of this type of boat in the past a good belt sander is the safest way and fastest way to strip off everything from old paint/varnish to old fiberglass. We learned the hard way burning out two orbitals'. Good luck and fallowing sea's.
Did you drill through the lid of the new storage case to mount the new rowers seat? Looks great and would love to duplicate! Stoked to see this series!
Never thought I’d get to see a play by play for the Drift Boat of Theseus! Love this series
Looking forward to seeing how the guide likes your upgrades. Great idea for a video and enjoyable to watch the transformation. Thanks for sharing
Thank you!
Could we see this in a future SBD series?!?P.S take Pete with you to Dutch John.
Can’t freaking wait!!! Loving this series!!
Jack was trying tell you and Pete how to do it man!
Hahaha classic! As if there is fishable water in Salt Lake City, oohhh Pete.. Walked right into that one.. Nice work bud!
Do NOT visit Adam, lesson learned. Manual labor and no fishing
Maybe just don't visit Salt Lake City?
What a turnaround. Look forward to seeing if lowering the rowing seat improved stability. Great job guys!
Thanks! It helped a TON!
👀 when’s it coming to Alabama??
What do fed ex's drift boat shipping rates look like?
The cross pieces you removed add rigidity to the frame . Removing them may not help performance when rowing
Put the support back in on the floor under the rowers seat. No issue with rigidity.
Boat looks awesome 👌 love the series. Like the free collaboration slave labor lol good job Pete
Fun video excited to see the end product!! Well done!
Thank you!
Love the channel and love the boat
Thanks for watching!
Love the look. That transom looked pretty rough, Pete did you replace it all together? Where’s Steve?
Pete didn't do hardly any work. Mostly it was complaining.
Definitely looks like the transom got some work done. Looks way more solid!
I know safety 4th, but a man should wear a mask when sanding junk
Saftey 4rdth.
Poor Pete… hopefully you take him fishing on the Green with you!!
No he didn't. He didn't take me fishing anywhere. He made me go by myself
I don't fish with Pete.
@@TheSkiffWanderer he didn’t take me either brotha!! We should go in spite of him. Dang kids these day don’t respect their elders
@@BlueLineCo is it because he catches bigger fish or because he yells at you the entire time? I’ve been there lol
I think you'd still be there in 2025 if you stuck with the original sandpaper and sander.
One Summer later.😅
Fast growing tomatoes.
Haha! Yep.
Forgot to record the last bit of the boat?? Got to the last player of paint on the bottom then the next clip was a new boat.
Probably because I wasn't there do it for him....
Facts.
removing the old bad fiberglassing job and putting on a new bad fiberglassing job..........
Yep! You probably missed that we aren't expert fiberglass installers.
Wish you'd been here to help, then it would have been done right!
