    If you're looking to improve your bait presentation, then this video is for you! These tips will show you how to use this circle hook rig to improve your bait fishing game. Watch and learn how to improve your bait fishing with circle hooks with this easy trick!
    IMPROVE your hook up ratios with this easy circle hook trick - it is nothing new, but this is something that improves your bait presentation and hook up ratio - you will catch more fish if you do this.
    I was quite skeptical at first, but boy, after studying it more and more, the more it made sense to me. It is a very simple DIY and something you can do for both freshwater fishing (for catfish especially) and other applications that require you to present a bait with circle hooks - you can make sinking or floating versions of this and it even helps you cast farther because you can attach the hook to a bait clip in your sinker.

    I just buy a circle hook with longer spine and build the bait around the spine of the hook and secure it with the invisible line. Or i buy the short circle hook, attach the wire on its ring, put the ring with swivel on the end for the fluorocarbon and build the bait around the spine of the hook and the wire. In either case, if the fish starts to eat the bait you can hook it, and if the fish bites it whole you can hook it again. Only difference is that, your bait would float while my would stay on the bottom. Which is not bad for me, since im catching gilthead seabream and they eat on the bottom. I think your system would be very productive in greece, since they have a lot of grouper, dentex and other bigger fish, and that floating bait would really lure them out. You have really good content, massive greetings from Croatia !

      Cheers! The thing about the dangle is just being able to secure the bait better. different folks, different strokes. SA has some pretty big fish...just thought of sharing this coz its quite useful. you can rig them to sink or to float, so many variations to this thing really...

      gut hooking fish with circle hooks happen if you leave the fish to run with the bait far too long...

    You only get a good hookset on a circle hook 50% of the time and the hookup only happens if the fish turns left or right after they eat thr bait. It will not get a good hookset if the fish turns the opposite way of the hook placement because the back of the hook slides to one corner of the mouth and out.

    • @TheFishingKit
      @TheFishingKit  Před rokem

      Interesting. So would you say in that instance, a J hook is better? And...where did you get your data from?

  • @jamescraig8601
    @jamescraig8601 Před rokem

    Why not use a trailer hook instead?

    • @TheFishingKit
      @TheFishingKit  Před rokem

      You mean put a trailer hook under the circle hook? - if so, it wont release the weight correctly after the cast. you can cut the hook a bit to make it better, but the other purpose of this is to also build your bait around it, it's a way to send out very big baits out with minimal drag. Check out some south african surf fishing guys do this and see how they can catch very big sharks on relatively smaller tackle compared to the ones used in the states (trolling reels). Recently, there has been a huge trend on using spinning reels to catch very big stingrays and sharks off the beach with them too. Quite interesting!!!!

    So you just lose your sinker every cast?

    • @TheFishingKit
      @TheFishingKit  Před 11 měsíci

      the grapples fold down when you put enough pressure on them - you don't lose your sinkers like the fixed hooks on traditional grappling weights.

    • @konsumekel
      @konsumekel Před 7 měsíci

      I don't get it. How is the casting weight retrieved?

    • @cuanhendricks1158
      @cuanhendricks1158 Před 7 měsíci +1

      Your sinker line is on an independent line as with a standard Paternoster rig, with the sinker line sligthly longer than your hook snoot. You then proceed to clip the sinker onto the split ring so that it hangs off the hook and the dangle. When you cast, the bait and the sinker travel in a nice streamlined package increasing casting distance. When the sinker hits the water, the force of the impact causes the hook(with the dangle attached) to detach from the sinker clip so that they are separate again. Once you have your fish on, you reel in as per usual having your then independent sinker line still in tact and now completely separated from your fish that is hooked. Not sure if it makes sense. But it works a charm. No more helicopter baits flying through the air.
