Assist cords are easy to come by for some parts of the world, in others like it was here in the UAE in the early to mid 2000s, it was difficult. So I had to look for a way to make my own Assist Cords. In this video, I show you how I make them with ordinary fishing braid - this is of course very useful when you're in a bind for whatever reason, it could be that you can not find cord that is thin enough for your micro jigs - just use the same method and use thin braid - for thicker assist cords, of course you can use thicker braided line. in this example, I use 100lb braid to DIY an Assist cord from it for a 40g jig.

Obrigado!!! :)
Well thats pretty good and practical very nice
Was practically what I had to do in the old days when Jigging was only popular in Asia and there was nothing here - I just thought it would be useful for people who are in a pinch and those in different parts of the world where the supply is not easy to find... :)
@@TheFishingKit for sure gonna try it when i get all the gear
Hey Kit, do you recommend a specific type of threading for tying assist hooks. or is it the same as the stuff used for flies, which there seems to be a variety on that too. seems like a good topic for a video if you haven't already done it. if you have already, can you point me in that direction. Thanks for all the knowledge Kit, you're making a big impact on the fishing community.
this question is answered a while lot because i get this almost every week - I use very thin fishing braid. There are specific threads being made for binding assist cords - I will put a link to this product as well. I use braid from my old ultralight Ajing gear - it is tougher than the threads made for binding assist hooks and i can really torque down on the bindings - making them cleaner, slimmer and more secure.
Here's a link to the "proper" seki threads - amzn.to/3xhe2a4
Braid you can use for binding- amzn.to/4ccy7gJ choose PE 0.3
Nice👌
Cheers Billy!
Very helpful videos in your channel... Which type of thread using to tie
any brand PE 03. in my case, it is momoi.
So the thread and super glue are all that connect the hook to the assist? It will keep a tuna attached to your jig? I am skeptical.
the bindings are what keeps it on the hook, the superglue is to keep the bindings in place. provided you do it right, it wont come apart. I have caught quite a few tuna on them. It's perfectly ok to be skeptical. But don't take my word for it, look at what the japanese have been doing.
Hi Kit.. Where do you buy the Crystal Flash from ?
I am using the ones I have from my fly fishing days, but I am sure there are a lot for sale in some shops, try deira or something
kren bang infonya
Thanks!

Lods, yung 45lb na assist line manipis pa ba yan pang set up ng microjig Assist hook? Or need ko pang gumagamit ng medyo thick na assist line?
for small jigs, its ok, like for 40g and under
