- Rogel Aguilera-Mederos was 23 when his semi-truck slammed into stopped traffic on the interstate near Denver West Parkway on April 25, 2019. Four people died instantly from the impact: Doyle Harrison, William Bailey, Miguel Angel Lamas Arellano and Stanley Politano. It is believed they all died from injuries and not the resulting fire.
Aguilera-Mederos was found guilty by a jury on 27 counts in total. The most serious charges were four counts of vehicular manslaughter. Other counts he was found guilty of included first-degree assault, first-degree attempt to commit assault, vehicular assault, reckless driving and careless driving.

I really hope something is able to be done about this bs sentence & hold the trucking company accountable for what happened for putting not only the publics lives at risk but also their workers.
This man is a murderer through his own criminal negligence. The deaths he caused could have been prevented, and he had ample time to take appropriate action to not kill people. He had 4 opportunities over several miles to take an exit ramp. He could have left his truck in gear and downshifted instead of putting it in neutral to accelerate downhill uncontrolled. His collision wasn’t a split second accident. It was criminal negligence and disregard for everyone else’s safety. It wasn’t a heat of the moment split second decision. It was a series of decisions he made over several minutes to disregard his training and all safety concerns. The man is a murderer, and deserves to die in jail. The trucking company deserves to be held liable for allowing someone as unsafe as him on the road, but they didn’t force him to make several bad decisions over a 5 minute period that ended up killing 4, hospitalizing 80, and leaving 16 with life changing injuries that they can never recover from.

So if the judge's brakes fail and crashes and unfortunately kills innocent people ,the judge should go to jail for 100+ yrs? He never thought about what would happen ,it. Was not in his plans
Yes, because as a driver he is responsible for the safe operation of the vehicle. If there were brake problems, he should have seen it on a pretrip inspection, and took the truck out of service. Barring that, he should’ve monitored the brakes for proper operation while driving, and if they failed, it was his responsibility to take that truck off the road immediately, be it at a runaway ramp or simply putting it in a ditch.
@@chadvargo7822 but that's not his job, he is not a mechanic or an inspector he is a truck driver, driving for another company, driving a truck he does not own. It's a heartbreaking situation for everyone involved, but the company he worked for filed for bankruptcy and isn't being held a tad responsible. The system is broken.
With that being said, he got out of the truck and checked the brakes, to his knowledge (remember he is not a mechanic) he decided the breaks were fine. The breaks on the truck completely broke afterwards and completely stopped working. Obviously the company did not want to pony up the maintenance cost on maintaining their trucks, and this is what happens when a company cuts corners.

Irresponsible driver:
Downshift into a lower gear and keep it there to keep your speed slower with very little physical braking with your foot.
Do not take out of gear because it's almost impossible to put back into gear with the gears and rpms so much higher, which means no engine braking and all physical braking which will burn up and or fade.
At the worst: plow off the road or side of the wall or into the ditch before you plow 80,000 lbs into families who don't deserve this from a irresponsible driver

As a truck driver of almost 20 years, I feel for this guy! My Dad was a truck driver as well, I remember when I was a kid my Dad calling home, telling us he's going to be driving through some dangerous areas because even he knew bad things can happen! Inexperience and faulty brakes shouldn't be a reason for this guy to go to prison... This could happen to any truck driver!
He also drove like a dumb ass passing people up. Going over the speed limit he should, no blinkers. This will teach jackass truck drivers who do drive like shit not too
Throw away the key 🔑
His brakes were proven to not be faulty. He had his truck in neutral and never attempted to downshift. The black box data recorded everything.
@@rabbiforrskeincoinblatt3052 Good to Rabbi, hope all is well my friend
No, I am sorry but this was not an accident that could have happened to anyone. This guy made multiple reckless decisions that caused this crash. He lied about his experience to get the job, failed to properly inspect his brakes, overused his breaks and caused them to overheat and wear out that day, and failed to use the run away ramps when he knew he had lost control. Lastly, he intentionally chose to steer into backed up traffic, knowing many would die because his truck would plow right through them, rather than turning off the road or into larger trucks like the one he was driving, because that would risk his own life. He chose to kill others to save himself after creating the situation. 110 years may be excessive, but he is a dangerous man that belongs in prison.
I don't know the details about this accident, but... 110 years?? It's not like he planned to kill these people.
He sped through a mountain pass he knew he shouldn't br driving through, blew past multiple runaway ramps when he started losing control, and swerved directly into stopped cars. I feel bad, but at what point is negligence as bad as intentional harm?
@@jrodrig2013 First off, he had zero experience with mountain driving, I'm not sure if you've ever driven a combination commercial vehicle that weighed 80,000 lbs. or not not, but if you did you would certainly understand that it's nothing like driving a car or light truck. So with that said without the proper training this guy had no clue as to how to apply brake pressure and control his speed coming down from the mountain west of Golden, Colorado.. as a truck driver that has come off that mountain in a commercial vehicle and a car I can honestly attest to the fact that it's not an easy decent in either one. And for someone who is not properly trained in mountain driving as this young man wasn't. It's a disaster waiting to happen.

I agree with you! This wasn't fair. All truckers need to protest! We need to stop truckers from brining into the state until there is a bill passed or go to the U.S. supreme court or something to lessen his sentence..

I’ve been in the medical field for 30 years. I’ve seen new nurses in their early 20’s do it all the time. Only difference is they have back up. I’ve seen residents do it but they have back up. Do mistakes happen, sometimes. But we do not get sentenced to 110 years for them. And yes those mistakes on occasion have led to a death. A person who drinks and drives has not taken the precautions to drive safely and neither has this man, in not taking his training seriously. People talking about murderers don’t get as much time, yeah right, try killing 4 people and see if you don’t get life.. Personally I feel like this man has a good heart hence jail will do nothing for him, you shouldn’t have to spend life in prison just for being incompetent but he’s certainly not some innocent man that the justice system has let down like others are making it out to seem.
