- Hello all!! Today I am bringing you a recipe for ube flavoured genoise sponge cake. The ube is a purple yam originally from the Philippines and has a mellow, nutty, vanilla-like flavour. Traditional ube cakes are made of chiffon sponge with addition of ube jam. There are various ube cake recipe online that are authentic so feel free to check them out. :)
I tested this recipe multiple time and decided to go with genoise sponge base instead of chiffon base. The ube extract I used in my video gives sufficient ube flavour and amazingly vibrant purple colour.

Hi @minteacakes. Just wondering what brands are you using for ube powder and extract.
schön! 💜💜💜💜💜
I gonna make a Korean birthday cake style for the first time. What icing cream would you recommend for beginner, I mean the buttercream or cream cheese icing?
Hi @Minteacakes can I use your frosting under fondant?
Can I use a bigger cake tin for this? ty
can i add some butter and mix it wit cheese?? and thank you soooooo much for sharing 🤍🤍🤍🤍🤍
Hello there, I like your cake layers that they are kind of dense but still spongy, but when I made this receip and 320f which is 160 c it came out a little undercooked , but I had in oven 40 minutes and also it became 1 6” cake, any advise, thank u so much
Hello. Do you use a fan oven for this
I don’t have Ube powder can I substitute it for coco powder or matcha?
can I make this as a cupcakes instead of cake?
Can you use all purpose cream instead of whipped cream?
Does plain flour mean all purpose flour? Thank you!
Looks perfect Cake 💜💜💜💜
No baking powder require?
How do you stabilize the whipping cream ?
I don't use any stabilisers as the Double Cream I use is very firm. I use elmlea double cream, if you can get your hand on it, I recommend using it.😊
I had one question do you use ring light for filming and what do you use to film ?
Always natural light.🙂 But I do wish I had a ring light.. atleast the lighting would have been consistent throughout the video😔
I use Sony A6400 for my videos.
This uses plain flour? I tried the recipe just now, the bread did not rise at all to be spongey.
Hi this looks beautiful and delicious! 2nd to comment! 😍 May I know should we use cold whipping cream and cold condensed milk here? And is the cream cheese cold also? is plain flour the same as all purpose flour?
Thank you!!💜 Yes cream should always be cold if you want stiff peaks. Same with cream cheese. Condensed milk can be room temp as we are only adding a little amount😊😊
What is UBE
Lifetime is the only love for dreams
