Hanna Barbera made a perfect decision on having Casey. Shaggy Rogers was the greatest thing Casey ever had.
The funny thing is that both he and Frank Welker originally auditioned for the others role. Casey wanted to be Fred and Frank wanted to be Shaggy and of course they were cast in the roles they became famous for.
Same deal with Robin, the Boy Wonder, after Filmation first cast him in that role in Batman & Robin(1968-70)!!!

the viper Luna Orton To be completely honest- Casey Kasem was caring, aspiring, selfless, educated, understanding, kind-hearted, accountable, sincere, encouraging, mature, courteous, artistic, supportive, efficient, fatherly, knowledgeable, ambitious, strong-willed, empathetic and modest.
For me it will always be Shaggy. The most iconic role for Casey Kasem. Also I think he voiced one of the Transformers in Transformers The Animated Series and the animated film.

They also met in the “Looney Tunes Back in Action” movie, It’s my favorite scene. The old shaggy is mad at Matt because he, “made him sound like a spaceman”

The thing I remember about Casey is that he never phoned it in. He was always totally focused on his audience and did everything he could to create a good experience for them.

He was the best Radio DJ ever, and the best voice of Shaggy out of all the rest of the voice actors of Shaggy, who do a very good job.
Along with Frank Welker, Casey Kasem was such a giant of cartoon voices from the 70s to the 2000s. What a great career!

I know that Casey Kasem used to have a radio show in the 1970's, 80's, and I think 90's. He has been dead for 10 years, but I am glad to hear that the show is still on the Moncton radio station on Saturday mornings.
That was actually impressive. But you forgot one other thing. You forgot the Christmas cartoon special, "The City That Forgot About Christmas". Benji's Dad and one of the three men who works for the Mayor were also both voiced by Casey. But other than that, loved it.

I remember Casey Kasem and America's Top 40 from when I was a little kid, living in New Zealand. I loved his voice then and I love it now. This is the first time, in 2022, that I've ever seen his face. And I totally never knew he was the voice of Shaggy. RIP Casey Kasem ♥️
A great VO, as well as bringing us the hits we now consider a classic on radio.
I remember when I used to live in Colorado we would be driving around on Colfax Avenue and I hear Casey's top 40 countdown on the radio it was pretty badass
2:50 this is his last voice acting before he retired in 2010 and his death in 2014.
CROSSOVER ANIMATION STUDIOS he still did a couple of episodes of Mystery inc as Shaggy’s dad
He retired in 2009 (announced about the day before Michael Jackson's death) but animation takes a while to be produced, so that's probably why it came out the following year
Guy Aoki I know about the length of time for animation but he briefly came out of retirement specifically to do those roles because he was only in about 5 episodes scattered across seasons :)

Guy Aoki like I said, he only reprised the role of Shaggy’s father, nothing else and he was still doing scooby doo back in ‘06 unless you meant ‘09?
Casey Kasem appears to’ve voices Shaggy at all times in his life prior to retirement. One moment not featured in this showcase is that he even did so in Looney Tunes: Back in Action talking to Matthew Dillard, who played Shaggy in the live action Scooby Doo films and has voiced Shaggy in animated form during recent times.
Casey Kasem wouldn't do Shaggy's voice if Shaggy was shown eating meat because he was a vegetarian.(I can understand that because I've been a vegetarian since 1985.) Not surprisingly, the first time he wouldn't do Shaggy's voice was for a Burger King commercial. He didn't do Shaggy's voice in the early direct-to-video movies like Scooby Doo and the Cyber Chase, which showed Shaggy (and Scooby) eating hamburgers and hot dogs. Starting with What's New Scooby Doo Casey Kasem was back on board as the voice of Shaggy, on the condition that Shaggy not be shown eating meat. For instance, in Aloha Scooby Doo! Shaggy (and Scooby) eat fruit, ice cream and cake. Unfortunately after Casey Kasem's death Shaggy was back to eating meat. In Frankencreepy Shaggy and Scooby enter (and win) a bratwurst-eating contest.
Casey Kasem's best two roles in animation were as both Shaggy from Scooby-Doo and as Robin from The Superfriends!!!
I miss Casey Kasem, too. The song "Candle in the Wind," performed by Elton John reminds me both Mr. Rogers and Casey died.
I listened to American Top 40 every week for years . That and Scooby-Doo will always be his most memorable moments for me.

One of the most gifted and instantly recognizable voices in the history of American pop culture. The best to ever do it. His impact on cartoons will never be replicated. One of a kind.
I think he also played Shaggy's parents in A Pup Named Scooby-Doo as well.
He did voice his dad in that series as well.
I remember watching here comes Peter Cottontail when i was in Kindergarten or 1st grade and i remember thinking that Peter's voice sounded very familiar but i just couldn't put my finger on it. Watching this video over 10 years later i finally discovered that he was voiced by Casey Kasem all along who was also the original voice of my favorite Scooby Doo character, Shaggy Rogers!
As a teenager, I was in love with his voice!
He also appeared in an episode of "Saved By the Bell" on NBC.

there's a rankin/bass feature about the donkey who was present at the manger jesus got born into. it is brutal! crazy wacky 'this is for kids? goddamn! ' kinda stuff. in other words, awesome. if you can find it, grok it. it's terminally wacky and weird. promise. can't recall the name of it, though. like, 'nestor, the christmas ass' or something like that. for real. it's a twist. rankin and bass, has a phenomenal cadence to it, don't it? like page and plant, cheech and chong, kukla fran and ollie, acid and weed, cap't kangaroo and mister green jeans and mister bunny, too. all the big psychedelic head-crews. i'm talking simpatico elements, you dig? jimi hendrix. huey b newton. olivia newton-john. carl weathers. twiggy. michael dukakis. yeah kitty too. lots of rando peeps, and lots more unmentioned heroes who may be unsung? thor forbid. woe that we have immortality not. aww, nuts. yep. dig. Was just thinking about how much I missed hearing his voice on Sunday mornings. Its one of the bigger standouts of my childhood. Its hard to believe today that their was once a time in America that every kitchen across America was tuned into listen to Casey's top 100
I didn't know Kaden voiced him in A Pup named Scooby Doo
Should also be noted that Kasem was a famous radio host for America's Top 40, which were great influences for his cameos in Tiny Toons and Histeria. He also had a brief cameo during a montage in Ghostbusters (1984) as himself. But he also gained a bit of infamy when his outtakes were uploaded on the internet, including his infamous rant.
He was a talented voice actor, I’ll always see him as Shaggy.
Loved him as Shaggy as a kid! I know there are others but Casey is the Shaggy I remember the most.

I'm amazed that he was able to make his voice go even HIGHER to play young Shaggy (unless they just pitched it up in post).
Casey Kasem and Paul Winchell are kind of in the same boat as far as not doing a lot of characters, but still quite a few of the ones they did are amazing and iconic and they gave all of them very memorable great voices that don't sound like each other.

Casey Kasim is one of the ( G.O.A.Ts ) of HollyWood , he truly was the life of Radio 📻 (top 20 & 40 countdown)
and he became and instant smash on Saturday mornings right in your living room or bed room on your Tv 📺 under the scripted guidance of William Hanna & Joseph Barbara ...truly I’ve heard many voices in Broadcasting but ...there Could only be 1voice that stands out among the rest , that was Synonymous with Tv / Radio & 1 Casey Kasim who left his legacy & Mark for Generations to Cherish

Honestly for me I grew up with the Scooby doo shows between 2000/2010 during the time when Casey did the voicing of shaggy thanks for making my childhood man Matthew lillard will make you proud
Just wanted to add that he also guest-starred in an episode of the '70s sci-fi radio series "Alien Worlds." He played a spaceship commander who starts a war with aliens who peacefully settled on Mars.
I am a HUGE Scooby-Doo fan, and I looked at the first three shows (1969-77) to find out that Casey did other characters in those shows. Like in The New Scooby-Doo Movies episode with Josie and the Pussycats, I found out he did the voice of the ghost of Injun Joe, and in a few episodes of The Scooby-Doo Show, he voiced a few cops. A great VA and above all, my favorite Shaggy.
He was also in The Night America Panicked, I think.
Yes he was in "The night that Panicked America " as one of Orson Welles' Mercury Theater actors.

Actually, that clip was Batman & Robin in one of two episodes of The New Scooby-Doo Movies in 1972- The Superfriends premiered, the following year!!!
He voiced both Shaggy and Robin in one episode of Scooby Doo.

Omfg that is crazy, I always heard his voice on the radio when I was a kid but never knew he was the voice of shaggy. It's weird the two voices are like polar opposite.

He was doing all of this while doing America Top 40 .
he did more or as much for that scooby character than anybody over the years.. but so many other things and i could (almost) always spot out his particular trademarks haha none to his discredit of course simply great.. a voice appearance in 1984 ghostbusters highlighted a childhood i heard mr. casem every day through my radio with my two older sisters listening intently..
