This was "The Best of Noel's House Party" which aired on BBC One on Bank Holiday Monday 31 May 1993.

such a shame they axed this, Noel Edmunds at his best, Saturdays have never been the same since the BBC axed the show

1991-1993 were the best years of the House Party, 1994 was okay, but from the end of series four in 1995 onwards the show took a turn downhill. These years, especially 1993 just show how good it was.

I think it would be excellent if the original theme tune was used. Lovely guitar riffs. When it was changed to "Welcome to the House of Fun", that was the beginning of the end. It didn't need changing and we didn't need to be told it was fun. I hope that was a Beeb executive's idea and not Noel's. But even if it's revamped a bit and recorded, I think, for the audience, it's important to include as many of the original show's ingredients as possible, as they were why we loved it. I realise there'll be the need for updating, but you know what I mean. Also, the old guests as well as new ones, would be warmly welcomed. Including the lovely Tony Blackburn :) Give the viewers what they'd love to see. Best of luck with it x

October 1996 was when they ditched the original version of the theme tune and brought in a crap banal music and also "House of Fun". That was the end too for me. They also redesigned the set in 1996 which made it less warm and open, and made it feel awful. The worst design of the set was in the final series 1998/1999.

I think the weakest element during the golden years was definitely the party pieces segment. Nobody ever talks about those or remembers a single one. Thank god it was only a very short slot each week, I hate it when talent shows become infested with people making themselves an embarrassment.

Not entirely my cup of tea, not having a television I missed most shows. It is curious to me however how the BBC creates stars and then arbitrarily ditches them at some point. I do not notice this happening to properties in the music business. No one could blame Noel for wanting to try and make something more of his legacy than the BBC has done.

Are you really suggesting that record labels don't drop artists and bands like they are radioactive when they stop being profitable?
