"She just sounded like an 8 year old, and then a woman, and then a monster from outer space."
It's amazing that Ado's voice tells the story so well even with the language barrier. This song is about a neglected child wishing her parents would love and praise her more (Aishite, aishite, aishite, motto, motto basically meaning "love me, love me, love me, more, more"), so she goes looking for praise in other places like friendships and relationships. She sings things like "Aren't I a good kid? Don't I get good grades?" in her childish soft voice, and then breaks out like a psychotic tantrum when she doesn't get the love she needs.

The stage name "Ado" (アド/ah-doh or ah-doe)is derived from the world of “Noh” and “Kyogen”, traditional forms of Japanese theater. In these art forms, "Ado" refers to a supporting role, contrasting with the main role known as "Shite".
Ado is one of the few artist that don't get stuck in just one genre. She is the closest to a stage musical performer. All of the highs, lows and screams in her vocals are all placed in areas fitting to the lyrics and the story, its insane. You can feel the story without the lyrics, but you'll live through the story when you know the lyrics as well. Ado as usual, storytelling with genius voice play.
Here are the songs I recommend. Welcome to the Ado Zone.
    LIVE: Unravel, Usseewa, ODO, SHOW.
Cover: Crime And Punishment, Overdose, Godish, Loveka.

When Vocaloid (Yamaha Vocal Synthesizer) appeared in Japan 10 years ago, where the author of a song can create music immediately together with a voice from the voice bank, the computer will connect them and play (then the virtual singer Hatsune Miku appeared). Vocaloid songs are not created for people; they are characterized by high speed, pitch jumps, and high notes. Then a community of people appeared who said, why can’t we do this? They called themselves Utaite. Ado emerged from this subculture, and is known as the one who was able to sing the most difficult of Vocaloid songs. We just heard one of these songs just now.

She want to keep all the popularity she gain to be just from her voice and talent instead of looks and apearence. Great job and welcome to the chaos of Ado's world. =)
One thing is that Ado is more thought of as a vocal performance artist, than a "typical" singer. She works to embody the vocal characterizations needed for the song/lyrics. She sings any musical genre you can think of and in some songs, like you mentioned, she can embody many different vocal personalities (yes it's crazy.....but totally Ado).
She has a ton of work out to listen to and I think you'll find lots to enjoy!

"Aishite" means "Love me", this is a cover. she wanted to convey the madness from the lyrics... and she did it, yep. (the theory is that the song reflects the idea of being overly dependent on the approval and love of others, and how this dependence can lead to insanity and mental breakdown)

HOLY SHIT WOW I DIDNT THINK YOU'D DO IT AND DEFINITELY NOT THIS SOON!!!!! I'M SO EXCITED
Okay thank you so much for making this vidoe! it was a ton of fun.
Ado is a 21 year old Japanese "utaite" and what that basically means is a singer who covers songs, typically vocaloid songs, vocaloid songs are made with a robotic voice (not AI, far from it) and that song aishite aishite aishite was made by the vocaloid producer "kikuo" so it's also a cover, but of course she has originals too and other live performances and if you're interested in seeing more "unravel" is another amazing live.
As for the song, it's about a child asking for more and more love and being afraid of abandonment, there are lines like "my grades are good, right? I'm a cute kid, right?" that's all, thank you again
For clarification I'm not the person who recommend twice, and as for her face, it's unknown what she looks like, to put it very shortly she's insecure but getting slightly better slowly, and in general anonymous singers is a common thing in Japan.

  • @Bobbias
    @Bobbias Před 10 dny +9

As another commenter pointed out, this song was written originally for a Vocaloid (vocal synthesis software based off a person's voice). "Utaite" (oo-tah-ee-tay) is the term that people who sing covers of those songs call themselves. It's a whole musical scene unto itself, with many producers who got their start working with Vocaloids becoming well known songwriters and producers in the music industry at large. One prominent example would be Kenshi Yonezu, who has emerged as a singer, songwriter and producer releasing music under his own name while also releasing Vocaloid music under the moniker Hachi.
Like Vocaloid producers, there are Utaite who have also broken into the mainstream music industry in Japan. Typically Vocaloid production and Utaite covers are made by small teams (or even entirely solo), they often (though not always of course) feature animated music videos to accompany the song, and different covers often essentially remix the original video.
Genre wise Vocaloid/Utaite songs are impossible to really pin down. They pull influences from everywhere, as you can hear here. You could to some degree describe it as a sort of Art Pop, since most songs are designed to have some kind of popular appeal. They are vocally driven, often making use of the fact that Vocaloid software can sing things that are extraordinarily difficult for singers to pull off. But sometimes they emphasize other elements instead, making the voice sound particularly inhuman (not entirely unlike how heavy use of autotune makes the voice sound weird). Musically they can range from sounding like a gentle ballad, hard drum and bass and other EDM genres, rock and metal influenced stuff, to weird jazz stuff and everything in between.
While this song shows off Ado's vocal style overall quite well, he cover of the song Godish is something else entirely. I've heard vocal coaches say it's like there are 5 different singers, and she's all of them.

She sang a cover song as a hobby when she was 14 years old, and debuted with one song when she was 17 years old in 2020, attracting the interest of Virgin Records producers. It gained popularity because the way of singing was very different. She hasn't made her face public. The reason is that she was a student at that time. She wanted her to listen concentrate on the music and enjoy it, so she only publishes her silhouette without showing her face and does single activities.

I’d love to give you some insight with this comment, so I’ll give you some background.
This song is part of Ado’s Utaite album, which is essentially short for Utattemia (I don’t know if I spelled that right) which translates to “tried to sing”, and it’s just a term to describe cover artists.
Aishite Aishite Aishite specifically was an already famous song by Kikuo, and was sang by Hatsune Miku, a vocaloid. The song has a few different interpretations, as “Aishite” means “Love me”, but one of the more popular (and my personal interpretation) is about a girl who wants love from her parents. A collar is mentioned in the song, and in this interpretation it’s made up of expectations placed upon her by her parents and others, which suffocates her, and leads her to just demand some love.
The upbeat ish and more wild sound of the song is a very “Japanese” thing to do, so to speak. Not necessarily that it’s ingrained in the culture, but more so that a lot of popular Japanese songs play with strange beats and vocals to convey a tragic story/commentary. This can actually be seen in other Ado songs, like her “Villain” cover, and “Crime And Pubishment” cover. Other artists also have similar songs (in terms of interesting composition) such as “Callboy” by Syudou (though my favourite version is its cover by Miyashita Yuu), Into The Night by Yoasobi, I’m Getting Onto The Bus To The Other World, See Ya! By Tuyu, and so on. I will warn many of these songs cover sensitive topics, but if you’re willing they’re great to listen to.
Also great reaction, it’s always fun to see non-Ado and Jpop in general fans react to her. (I’m using Jpop as the west sees it, which is just any Japanese song, even if it doesn’t really fit into the pop category.) You’ve earned a like and subscribe, and I hope to see more reactions like this in the future! I’d recommend you listen to “Crime And Punishemnt” too, it’s one of her more highly praised songs (though it’s a cover), and her vocal performance is stunning.

    • @raccoonchild
      @raccoonchild Před 6 dny

Surprised you mentioned that overrated YOASOBI song for interesting composition. At the very least pick something else by Ayase (maybe from his less formulaic VOCALOID catalog) or throw some Yonezu Kenshi, Fullkawa Honpo or wowaka/HITORIE in there to really spice it up

    • @aperson6371
      @aperson6371 Před 5 dny

@@raccoonchild It’s not the most interesting if you’ve heard other songs sure, but to people used to more Western music it’d be interesting. Besides, the dichotomy between how it sounds and the lyrics is rather interesting, and since it’s popular reacting to it would be beneficial to the channel. Like if I recommended one of my more obscure favourites I would be happy if it was reacted to, but I realize there’s less incentive to do so because it’s not as popular.

It means "Love me! Love me! Love me!"
It's about a girl who was never loved and is full of anger bc of it but at the same time trying to put on the nicest act in the unfruitful attempt to get love and is basically going crazy, in conflict with contradictory emotions such as desire and resentment. (also stark contrast between self-image and how she wants other to see her etc)
She has so many incredible songs that are all unique in their own right, I find it impossible to "rank" them (even in terms of how much I like them) but I do have a clear Favourite 3. The studio version of this song is one of them. While the live version is a great performance, the studio recording is the (of course) much better sung version and is an incredible vocal composition to bring that tortured soul to life in a musical sense.

This song is actually from kikuo, it talks about a cursed collar that yearn for love. Talks about abuse, loving but felling that love isn't pure, and wanting to be loved and be looked at, it's one of the most beautiful song I've ever heard in my life

This is a cover song from an artist named Kikuo. It was originally released about 9 years ago. The original vocal used was a vocaloid bank known as "Miku." You can find the MV on CZcams. The original is more bitter sweet/cute and less angsty.

Great analysis! Ado might just be one of the best vocalists out there. As you said, you couldn't figure out if she's 15 or 80 and that's what's awesome about her voice(s). She can do so many voices like she's playing different characters in her songs.
Also, wanna mention your point about live music vs streamed. Of course, we clearly see live that she's an amazing singer, however live shows are also about spectacle and entertainment which might impact the music. For example: you can see she is dancing during the song, not a difficult dance, however even that i think has a small impact on her singing, because moving makes singing harder. Which is why I prefer (in this case) the original "studio"/clean version, because you can clearly hear all the amazing things she does with her voice, without it suffering from breath issues or other stuff due to movement/dancing. Definitely recommend hearing the studio version.
    Other awesome Ado songs:
    Show
    Buriki no Dance
    Odo
    Value
Ready Steady (featuring 2 other artists and they're singing most of the song but Ado has small parts, the other girl Yoshino has an awesome and unique live voice too)
    Controversy
    Overdose
    Blue Flame
    Godish
    Crime and Punishment
    Usseewa
    Fleeting Lullaby
    Backlight
    Tot Musica
Also if you wanna check out my favorite singer, her name is Uru. There is a CZcams channel called "The First Take" where a lot of (mostly) japanese singers are invited to sing live in one take. Uru has a few live songs there if you're curious.

The meaning of Aishite (愛して) is that I want you to love me in Japanese. The meaning of the lyrics of this song is not simple love, but a song that tries to be loved by people who never love me. A singer called Ado expresses a song by changing the way of singing according to the atmosphere of the singer and the song. I have the impression that she is enjoying herself without fear of using her voice. That's very interesting. This time it was a song with a scary atmosphere. There are also many songs with the opposite atmosphere. Please try the analysis reaction of Ado's other songs✨😂

Ado is 21, she released her major label debut in 2020 at 17 and she started with covers at 14 so she has been in this years, if i remember correctly she doesn't plan on revealing her face any time soon; which i mean fair enough, you dont know what fuckers on the internet are up to. The main selling point for me is how dynamic her voice is. A cover she did that i'd recommend is kick back (chainsaw man's OP), its on a channel called ado sense and it show how good her voice is in a less unhinged way.
Ps: aishite is prononced eye-sheet-aye and means I love you in japanese

No, it's metal, and she's trained in the techniques. If you are interested in analogues, then its technique is similar to Chester’s technique (according to reviews of metal voice teachers). Chester's fry scream is a combination of a thinned out chest voice (some call this chesty mix, some call this edge, some call this belting) creaking (some call this vocal fry or vocal fold distortion) with the vocal folds, compressing the larynx (pulling the false folds into the windstream) and letting the false folds vibrate and create distortion.

Wow, is the title of this video clickbait? The whole video was basically just 'hey this is cool', with zero significant discussion of vocal techniques. The only part that touched on it was the tidbit about some bands choosing to use pre-recorded screams for their live performance. And you use the excuse that your voice is tired? Then consider going to bed early and recording your video on another day when you aren't tired. Thumbs down.

    - "A" (like "A"-rt) and "Do" (like "Do"-minican Republic), no it's not "Ay dough" or something like that. Aishite should sound like "Eyesh-te" for english speakers.
    - She's 21(22 this year), never shows her face and probably never will.
    - CZcams has done that "Artist on the rise" thing for her, it shows a bit of what she's about, has subtitles btw.
    - She doesn't write her music, most if not all are written by a bunch of big names in jap music.
    - She does a lot of covers of vocaloid, this being one of them.
    - She can do almost anything to an impressive standard judging by her songs (yodelling, raping, metal screams, random bits of opera, almost a voice actress doing multiple characters in one song)
    - She's her own number one hater. There's a famous video about her reacting to herself, it's pretty amusing.
    - If not the live versions a majority of her songs are uploaded with subtitles and a lot of people ask for people to turn them on.
    - She sang the entire OST for ONE PIECE Film RED (if you search for One Piece you'll know the proportions of this if you don't already, i absolute love backlight btw)
That's what i remember in case you want to continue on this rabbit hole. I absolutely love this girl and her voice. (edited for one thing i forgot)
