Ado is Amazing. You should watch her whole One Piece Film Red Soundtrack. It's better when watched in order because there is a progression of her character throughout the songs Tot Musica is the 5th, It's a prelude to the climatic battle in the movie, the order is 1. New Genesis 2. I'm invincible 3.Backlight 4.Fleeting Lullaby 5.Tot Musica 6.The World's Continuation 7.Where the Wind Blows. It's even better when watched in context with the movie.

99% agree. I thought the movie itself was executed a bit sloppy with too much going on sometimes, but Ado and the music absolutely carry the movie like you said. You feel everything through it; her hope, resolve, and the downward spiral leading to Tot Musica. It's the most beautifully done soundtrack I've heard in my life.
This movie was dope
Ado quickly became my favorite singer of all time. She can sing about every genre there is and is crazy talented. She grew up doing covers to songs and never had vocal training which makes her talent even more astonishing. I think she was around 19 for this song. She got to do 7 new songs for the One Piece film RED movie which helped blow her up more, and she had 6 of them on Japan's top 10 all at the same time. Just her unique voice, vocal range, vocal agility, and how she puts real emotion into her voice is how I came to love her so much. Plus she can release a lot of great music cause she does only sing but gets to work with so many talented artists that can really make her shine more, much love to them all. She has a ton of music you can react to and I recommend them all, her songs or covers (the covers typically won't have subtitles but are amazing regardless).
What amazes me most about her is that she does all of her recording by herself. She goes into the studio by herself, records by herself, and then sends the data. She has been doing this since her debut. This song was also recorded without the direction of a lyricist, composer, or producer.

@@Charlitos-gn7fe i think they mean that she goes in solo, with the song and the lyrics they gave her, and then creates the vocals how she sees them to fit as opposed to having a producer and composer in the booth helping to direct her on how to do it
With Ado, you may find yourself at a loss for words afterwards. 😄 Ado is often referred to as J-Pop, but she isn't really tied to a genre. For me she is one of the best singers on the planet. I just love this song, such a fascinating dark atmosphere. You noticed the different facets of Ado's singing, but she has many, many more. The song Usseewa you mentioned at the beginning has a piano version in which she shows many of her facets (and a blurry image of herself), as well as in the cover Godish. Thank you for making the Ado reaction.
The more I've listened to J-Pop, the less I understand the tropes of the genre. It seems to be a blanket classifier that encompasses every other genre of music from Japan that isn't Jazz or J-Rock/Metal.
@@WhatisaLee I think in Japan they don't pay that much attention to what a genre should sound like. Genres are also combined with each other that don't normally fit together, but the Japanese manage to make these genres work well together. Good examples of this can be found in Japanese metal bands and idol groups such as Babymetal, Broken By The Scream, Hanabie and Maximum The Hormone.

Ado has hella RANGE btw, one of my favourite songs from her part of the One Piece Film Red collab has got to be "Fleeting Lullaby" and I HIGHLY reccomend listening to it just based on how much switch-ups and vocal control she has, it's such a fun song.

Ado is 21 years old. She skyrocketed to mainstream fame in asia after her first Original song called Usseewa in 2020. (which is slang for shut up.) It was released a day before her 18th birthday. She has never revealed her face😊
Ado is just insane. There is nothing she can't sing. And talking about character, her voice is so amazing that even watching a livestream with Ado talking in Japanese and not understanding a single word is great.
The song is for a Spin-off Movie for One Piece, a very popular anime in Japan. Ado also doesn't only do Pop music if you check the rest of her songs she's got other genres in her songs. My personal favorites are Backlight, Usseewa and her cover of God-ish by PinocchioP
Just to clarify, One Piece is THE most popular anime in the world, it sales more than Naruto and DBz COMBINED and it's in second place (behind superman) for most sales manga/comic of all time and all that in a quarter of the time that SM exist, it's actually crazy

This piece is written by Sawano Hiroyuki, famous japanese composer known for his hard gritty songs. One of his songs I'd recommend is the opening for season 2 of No Guns Life.
Ado is absolutely a pop artist, but Tot Musica was a song done for an anime movie called One Piece Film RED. I can understand why you'd be confused expecting to hear pop and receiving a Rage Ballad instead 😂
Now I am uncertain if you know or not but this song shares its name with a musical God of Death in the anime One Piece where this song is how it is unsealed/summoned. The character in the video is called Uta from the same anime and she is the one who summons it.
In the movie One Piece Film Red Uta sings this song once she reaches a breaking point where the innocent people she thought she was helping turn on her and even begin to be killed by others.
I was lucky enough to catch the movie in theater with the Japanese Audio, and when this song began it sent shivers! I love the song and after the movie I began keeping up with Ado's releases. I regularly listen to Tot Musica, especially at night when I'm driving home from work/

The best thing about being a fan of ado is just feeling pride, not proud to be her fan but proud of ado herself, genuinely amazing vocals!
Also to add on top, this song is sung in a way thats supposed to sound wrong intentionally. The character she is portraying is on her last legs so she is sluring her speech and it really sounds like she is throwing away everything for herself.
The English voice actor for this character is amalee and she did English covers for this and all the other songs from the film.

Agreed. I wouldn't argue she's exactly BETTER than Ado, but she does a wonderful job. It always struck me as a lost opportunity that they hired her but didn't have her sing in the movie.

"It has a more epic vibe" Yeah that's because it's part of the climax of a movie that's supposed to be both high in term of stakes and of character angst. The story informed the song.

Ado is a singer who can sing in various ways according to the song. I will sing as if a person with multiple personalities is singing! I recommend it! The easiest to understand is the song called show. Dignity is recommended when you sing beautifully. There are so many songs I want to recommend that I can't choose, but I recommend recent songs for the time being.

If you're interested in checking out more Japanese music, I highly recommend a band called the Gazette. Their live performances are incredible, especially DOGMA and DEUX. They're part of a genre known as Visual Kei though these days they mostly see themselves as a rock & metal band.
An absolute goosebumps song, and it wasn't even Ado's masterpiece in terms of vocals, just the song with the darkest (and for me best) music.

ADO 'Tot Musica' is a scene-inserted song in the One Piece Film Red movie, and although it spoils the movie, it is a song intended to scare the audience. ADO said in an interview that he sang the song with the theme of scaring people.

It's like comments from critics. Is it because you don't understand Japanese? I would like more in-depth comments on the vocals.
I actually did get really scared when I heard the first notes of this song in theaters. The “GAH ZAN TAK, GAH ZAN TAK TAK BRAK!” really gave me danger vibes. Knowing this was her intent, it makes it all the more wicked and cool.

I highly recommend watch "Gira gira" if you want to hear Ado in a Jazz mode. Also "Show" if you want to listen her in a pop song with mixt vocal and musical styles. Finally I recommend you "Crime and punishment if you want to hear all her power and potencial in singing on the clearest way possible
Im Fan since 96 and the movie was pretty good, the best movie so far and this Song is by far the best one.

I love Ado. Her voice is amazing, and her age only adds to how wonderfully talented she is. Very unique and instantly recognizable. She puts so much raw passion and emotion into her voice and I feel like I can FEEL it. Her voice alone I would definitely consider more of a jrock sound than jpop, and a lot of the songs she does have more of a rock feel in instrumentals as well, so I agree with j/pop/ not feeling exactly fitting as a label. As for this song specifically, I feel some words/genres to describe it would be... dark, melodic, rock, orchestral/symphonic, cinematic. I highly recommend checking Usseewa if you haven't yet. A lot of emotion there as well, that rock feel, and there's a genuine message behind it (that upset the older Japanese working class lol)

I do suggest listening to all the movies songs but in order they appear in the movie for one vid.
That way you can experience the characters emotional journey through the movie.

Late to the party, but since you asked in the video (sorta) I'll provide the context. Skip if you don't want spoilers for the movie One Piece Red. Though, it honestly a really fun movie, has a lot more songs than this from it as well.
The character singing is the childhood friend of the main character, and adopted daughter of another popular character. In the world of one piece she's a world renowned singer, and thanks to the magic of the world (devil fruits) she has a power that lets her bring people that hear her sing into a dream reality that she controls. The reason this song feels so 'heavy' is that it is literally a curse. This is the climax of the movie, where she believes she's been betrayed by everyone (though, largely a misunderstanding), and is summoning a literal world ending demon, the titular tot musica (you can actually see the demon in the music video at the end, with the keyboard arms, hook hands, and briefly you see its face). She's still convinced she's 'saving' everyone, but thanks to some drugs and sleep deprivation, she's basically losing her mind. This is also why, as the song goes, she goes from sad, to angry, to confident and then to scared at the every end, when she's finished the summon and realized she's screwed up.
The other songs really do a great job highlighting her descending mental state through the movie as well, going from really happy, and peppy to defiant and then mad and morose.
Heck, what makes the character extra special is that she has the unique honor of being the first and only 'movie' character to actually be cannon, even if the events of the movie aren't (though, only one cannon error in the movie effectively makes it 'impossible' to fit with the series).
Ado is 1 of of the few JPop artists (and pop in general) that I actually like.
Other songa by Ado to recommend are Show and Odo which were both absolute bops produced by two fantastic EDM producers called Giga and Teddyloid. Fleeting Lullaby from the same movie soundtrack i also recommend which is again a totally different vibe and genre. Her entire catalog is just a great listen. She has tons of variety between her songs.
Its from a film- so i wouldnt really call it j pop. Ado was hired to sing all the songs from the newest onepiece movie - RED - all wrote by different top Japanese producers/writers- and they are all amazing and very different from each other. She has great vocal control- can do any style. And everyone loves her grit :)

3:49 "Descriptors" -- this happens to be a song from the character Uta, as performed by Ado. This said, it's arguable that Eichiro Oda had Ado in mind during character creation.

@KenLavigne heard an interesting vocal flair, and mimicked it briefly, experimentally, with a chuckle. I can picture a fearless young Ado just vocalizing into a mic for hours, waiting for that special something. I'm no vocal coach, but this unashamed approach seems extremely healthy and maybe brought about some of my favorite Ado moments. (The last sound / note / laugh in the opening phrase of "Fleeting Lullaby" comes to mind.)

To me I feel like since you don’t know the Japanese language, hearing the syllables and how it’s pronounced and spoken in different tones and pitches especially from someone so young who’s known that language for most of their life it sounds almost ethereal and mystical and mysterious especially with the way she sings the lyrics with such emotion and depth and such rawness of power

Ado is what happens when a (genius) human imitates a robot that imitates a human. She is from the online utaite community in Japan who are singers who upload covers of vocaloid songs, primarily on the site niconico.
If you don't know, vocaloid is a voice synthesizer technology that has become crazy popular in Japan (and probably other places) where the voices also have images and personalities attached to them, some becoming popular Idols in their own right like Hatsune Miku. It inspired a generation of music producers who would otherwise have struggled to find vocalists to, in turn, spawn this fantastic crop of talented singers doing very fresh things with their voices. It's different.

if you think its sounds doesn't like jpop, yeah because the composer is hiroyuki sawano, if you heard hiroyuki sawano composed song before like (AOT theme song) then you know that "tot Musica" sounds very familiar. Hiroyuki Sawano like to compose song like without lyrics/ theme song.

I saw someone comment that the way ado sings is destructive for her age and that person says that they may be a chance that it will affect her voice in the future. Is it true? I love her so much so I dont want that to happen to her. Can you please tell if it will really affect her voice if she continue singing the way she sings now?
