- Narrated Tour of Norwich City, England NOW! | What's Norwich Like?
Join us on this narrated Norwich City, England walk, as we explore Norwich City, Norfolk, England - the UK's Best University City Walking Tour.
Norwich, England is the most complete medieval city in the UK and one of Britain's best university cities. The area was settled by the Anglo-Saxons over 1400 years ago. Unusually, the city has two universities, the University of East Anglia and the Norwich University of the Arts, and two cathedrals, the Anglican Norwich Cathedral and the Catholic St John the Baptist Cathedral. It also has a castle - Norwich Castle. It is known for Norwich Market - one of the country's largest outdoor markets, and the Arts and Craft styled Royal Arcade. Our walking tour of Norwich City, the UK's best Tudor city, is a walk through medieval history and modern British culture.

Hello, Mike here, do drop by and say hello, I’d love to hear your own viewpoint and tips of this lovely City.
I’ll be enjoying revisiting this lovely city in full later tonight. I’m loving the narration and smooth camera work already.
Ah, t’was a pleasure to do it!

Hello from Naples, Florida. That is a beautiful city, indeed. Love, love the architecture. So many places and things to see. Thank you for sharing the footage and narration, have a great week. 💯
Thanks Florida Flip Flops, I enjoyed your recent Bonita Springs film too!
How nice. Very nice tour. Thank you. Hi from Sandpoint, Idaho USA
Hiya HD, how’re you doing. Basking in the Springlike weather in Sandpoint I hope? We’re filming In Barcelona right now and enjoying warming our bones.
Norwich City Football Club originally played in Sky Blue and White shirts and their nick-name was the 'Citizens'.
Their manager cira 1900 was a keen canary breeder, which as you point out was common in the area thanks to earlier immigrant Flemish weavers.
He always referred to his players as 'my little canaries' in public and after a couple of years that sort of stuck and took over as a nick-name.
The team colours were changed to yellow to match the new nick-name.
Ah, great bit of local knowledge! Thanks so much for filling in the story.
Wow, the nostalgia! Thanks for this. I used to live off Elm Hill, in Waggon and Horse's Lane. There is (/ was?) a single cottage with a thatched roof in that area that was filmed as an exterior for the movie Stardust, featuring Clare Danes.
Hi there @hughtube5154, happy to bring back a good memory or two of your time living there. I didn't know that about the movie Stardust, thanks for dropping by.
Hello, I have just watched your video on the Mark from the States channel. Loved your tour, the architecture, all the snippets of history. I know it was a lot of work, but it was great - thank you!
Hello there @JJ-of1ir, Very pleased to bring a little of Norwich to your door. T'was very gracious of Mark from the States to feature it and how nice of you to drop by and to let us know you enjoyed it. All the best to you.
Behave yourself Mike. You're having far too much fun. Nice City. Thanks for a great walk.
Ah well, I’ve got to amuse myself somehow!
Hello my friend ! 👋
Thanks for this very nice visit of Norwich ! 👍
I know the name of this town from a movie I saw a few years ago. "Fighting with My Family".
It tells the story of a wrestler and her journey to her WWE title. It was really interesting!
Thank you for introducing me to this city! 😁
Merci !
Thanks for letting me know about the film Castel, I’ll look that up. You might also have heard of Alan Partridge, (played by Steve coogan) he makes lots of good humoured jokes about Norwich, I’m not sure if the humour translates well though?
@@LivingWalks No I don't know. Alan Partridge... I'll watch this! 😉
I don't know if humor translates well, but I'll try.😁
I spent 20years calling on my customers in Norwich every two weeks. I’m seeing, and learning, more from your walks than I ever did as a representative Thanks for posting, I absolutely love it Mike.
Ah, that's a fantastic compliment Mike - very much appreciated.

the British Sitcom the Last of the Summer Wine

Thanks for visiting friend, yes we thought so too. Pleased to know you enjoyed it and thanks for dropping by.
Norwich is my favourite city ever! :) Lovely walk and narration! It's a shame this city doesn't really get mentioned in English tourist guides because they are definitely missing out!
Morning CAB1802, yes we do agree, if we ever moved anywhere in the UK it would be Norwich, it's a very liveable city I feel. Thanks for dropping by.
Astounding show and historical narration. Thankyou.
Hi there Tony, thanks for dropping by, so pleased you enjoyed it, it kinda makes it worthwhile to know it!
Whoa That's me and my mates busking on London street - the Rum Dogs
Morning Mike, oh and a great job you were doing too. Glad to have captured your talents!!
Here at 3:41 minutes is the the shop my wife founded. Historically, her name was known by all as Angel. I must say, she truly is. This is why the shop was known as Angels Crystal shop.
Very happy to bring a memory of those times back to you, thanks for dropping by and sharing that with us.
It's not Madeira :) Only joking - fascinating walk. You should do live city tours you know...
Don't give Yvonne ideas!
I don't know what it's like to be British but I know that you are a very good person. Thank you for your wonderful videos!
How very nice of you to say so Алевтина Булах, I'm just very happy that you are enjoying the videos.
Norwich cathedral has in fact has the biggest cathedral close in Europe. 44 acres in total.
Quite so Jack, thanks for dropping by with your insight.
That's a pretty nice city. I do appreciate your effort and finally it was wonderful.
Thank you very much! Hope you do get to visit sometime, I know you won't be disappointed. Thanks for dropping by.

Рад, что вам понравился этот кусочек настоящей Англии @tangobarcelona3387
My home City.
👍
I appreciate, you cannot include everything, but you missed out St Benedicts St, one of the oldest most historical streets in Norwich
Oh thanks for the low down, we'll just have to revisit and make sure we get plenty of other areas in. All the best to you.
My Local City ~ Hello from Thetford (on the Norfolk / Suffolk border).
Hello there from Leigh on sea!
Lovin you video, just wish 1 of you vloggers would film the other side of Norwich city centre. There seems to be the same walk with all vloggers.
Ah I'm sure we'll be back to do that somethime!
That was great! Informative and entertaining. I'm trying to figure out where in Britain to move next... Need to be near a city but far enough out to access nature (ideally water) and be away from crowds. I'm also a non-driver so need good transport links. Can you recommend any of your other videos to check out? Or even Norwich...? Thanks again, subscribed! 😊
Hi @choc_chip - thanks for stopping by. We have a "Britain" playlist which you could flick through - we tend to get drawn to characterful cities and towns ourselves, so that might be a good start. We personally really like Norwich, Brighton and Exeter...
@@LivingWalks Thank you!
One of the plus points for Norwich is that you don't have to travel far at all to be in the countryside or on water - I mean literally minutes. Norfolk is almost entirely countryside, with only 1 small city, and half a dozen major towns and of course a huge network of connected waterways - the Norfolk Broads.
Elm hill is nice
Ooooh yes, and a fine city it is too.
The friars did all the cooking 😅
👍
Where you had your picnic is where they buried the dead from the plague. Thats why it's so high up from the path and walled
All quite fascinating isn't it Rob.
I liked that old close and your joke about the rat councilors...
Hello there Eric, thanks for dropping by. Glad to amuse someone other than myself, all the best to you mate.
Great video. Enjoyed all the history. Norwich Cathedral sadly not featured in Harry Potter though.
Hiya, nice of you to say hello! Did I say that Norwich Cathedral was in HP? I could well be wrong :) This site claims it was, but it doesn't say which film or what location it was used for www.number82theunthank.co.uk/norwich-film-location-guide/
Partially correct on Edith Cavell, she did treat soldiers from both sides, however she was tried and executed by the Germans for aiding Allied POW`s to escape in 1915.
Hey @UncleMort, you're absolutely right.
Norwich as far as UK goes is pretty safe . But obviously like any City has its crime.
Quite so Mark!
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Thank you!
Townhall looks like a jail..rest of town quite nice
🙂
my bad you did mention maids heads ,, and you are right , it is the oldest in uk
Hi minator44, yes that's quite something isn't it... as you say I couldn't have missed that!! Thanks for dropping by and hope you enjoyed the walk.
@@LivingWalks i know this as i haved lived here 57 years lol
@@LivingWalks did you also know that norwich was the first city in the world to use post codes ??
Indeed I did, and umm... I think I got around to mentioning it?? Thanks for dropping by.
Do the same walk at night and tell me you feel safe!
Ah right @razormodz1173
Is Lower (& Upper) Goat Lane really pronounced 'gate' or is that a quirk of your pronunciation?
Hey Matthew, umm I think that's my accent!
No one will call that the Drawing Room its the Brown Derby If you know you know
I'm sure many will remember the Brown Derby, thanks for dropping by.
Hello there, had been having questions about Norwich if you could answer them, that could be great.
Is Norwich a safe place to live for people from South Asia, Like Pakistan?
I feel sure it would be Sania, we feel it would be very friendly!!
It's statiscally one of the safest cities on Earth
Hey, never call Norwich a town....
Ooo err😯
Norwich ch ਕੋਈ ਪੰਜਾਬੀ ਭਾਈ ਹੈ ਸਾਡਾ ਤਾਂ reply ਜਰੂਰ ਕਰਿਓ
👍
It’s a city not a town!
🙂
Norwich is a city, not a town.
Thank you Michael... umm did I say town? All the best.
@@LivingWalks Yes, you did, near the start. No worries, but nice to be factual. Cheers.
Quite so Michael, thanks for dropping by and hope you enjoyed the perambulation!
