When I started collecting hot toys.. I said "No Star Wars figures" So far a I have 2 stormtroopers with Luke and Han heads. Kylo Ren and Chewie...Now I want Rey, Vader and Boba Fett.

Rogue one was fantastic
The silver vs scratched helmet is movie accurate to the ANH helmet. So HT did that one perfectly!
Wonderful review, DeanKnight! I have Hot Toys' "A New Hope" version and I still do love that one. But, there are some improvements on this Rogue version that I do wish I had for mine...namely the newly sculpted glove hands...and maybe the shinier polished helmet. But, this one is a great figure still. What I love about my New Hope version is that is comes with the torture droid and light up saber. Also (although I very rarely activate it) is the lights and James Earl Jones voice feature which I do love. It's just a nice feature to still have although it's a pain in the rear to activate. :)
As for the different colored tusks on you Rogue version, I think they are still great in keeping accurate with the films themselves. The filmmakers want to keep accurate with both Rogue and ANH so, it's a very nice touch that Hot Toys kept with it.

a very well done unboxing of this ader figure. i think i still like the new hope vader a bit better but still love this so much. the helmet just looks so awesome, and even more so in the red light. if i have to buy one i might just go with this one. love the other one but this one is also so great looking.

Really like this figure , always have , because its black with a cape . Wish they would move the 1/4 scale version along . I guess you could go on Ebay and buy some wrist pegs and put them in all the gloves or use all the spare ones you have that come with the rest of your collection , if they are the same size . Mega pixel review buddy . Love Bro

Very good review, we bought the New Hope Vader for our collection and it took me an age to fit the fiddlie batteries lol. The one with sound has a small Star Wars remote control to operate the voice. The other thing is that I'm still not sure if he is a little over scaled.
You know, now that you have one Vader, you're going to end up buying more. This is how the addiction starts.
I recently picked up the A New Hope Darth Vader...fantastic figure. The drawback is the voice features...such a pain in the ass. I don't use them but it's just the point.I don't recollect seeing that option for the Rogue One Vader, I could be wrong. Not sure they wanted him saying lines from the film anyway before it's release. The sculpted gloves on this Vader are excellent...the New Hope Vader gloves/velcro deal...meh, not a big fan. And yes...if your fingers aren't as smooth as eggs, the material gets caught on your skin, it's odd. Having posed my Vader often to different positions, it seems the robes and cape have become a bit frayed so to speak...they are so delicate. Anyway....great pick-up...it looks awesome!
This confirms it Dean I wish you weren't good at posing because that pose straight out of the box with the Stormtroopers side by side with Vader reminds me of my roots. I grew up on Star Wars more so than Marvel and really get Marvel figures just because Hot Toys does a great job replicating the suits from the Marvel movies and the movies are pretty good! But in truth I've only grown up on 1 character from Marvel: Spider-Man while I grew up on all characters with Star Wars: saw both Clone Wars read some Republic Commando books and have quite a bit of Star Wars games and ofcourse have seen all of the movies. I can no longer try and stay away from Hot Toys Star Wars. I've been quite torn for sometime b/w which to collect but I'm sure now. Even though the pose is simple classic Vader it's still powerful, showing his vastness in power within the Imperial ranks!
Oh and that's the Vader I saw through when you did a slideshow of Luke facing off against him. I thought you had already owned one. Very nice of your buddy Vader's quite the character as we know of! Nonetheless great slideshow one of my favorites from you that's when I first saw your channel!
I wanted this one but it sold out so I instead bought the re-released Sideshow ROTJ Darth Vader...haven't looked back. This is still quite an amazing figure.
The different coloured tusks are accurate to the ANH version so it likely accurate to this one too, and the base picture is a sticker peel off the back stick it to the base

He does indeed look very awesome, I'm hoping his preorder comes in around February when not as many things cominh in. Are those Stormtroopers in the background something from Disney Store im not so sure their hasbro like you said unless they are 5 points of articulation rhen yea probably lol Until the review I catch ya on the flip side bro :)

I know which version your talking about, thats the one thats sewn in to the box and when you come to remove it the cape is perforated with holes, super accurate styling and beautifully finished????...........you seriously need to go to Specsavers😎!!!!

Is it me or one of the screws near his chin area on the helmet is smaller or not as bulky?
Now I think he needs a custom grate style base with red lighting in it.
How is it compared to the ROTJ version?
Can someone who owns this figure please tell me if his leg armour (shin pads) and control panel in the centre of his chest are fixed to the figure and cannot be detached? or is it velcro like on the new hope figure and can be removed?
Vader's Helmet in Rogue One isn't shiny. It has an almost Matte black appearance,the same as his helmet from a New Hope(obviously). Still an awesome Figure,though.

The first release was the of that had the sound affects. It was a real hassel to get to it.
they never mention the breath feature for this set but the previous has it ( look on the description)
that is also why people rather to buy the previous version than this set
the robes should be over the shoulder/chest guard thing, they've mixed it up because the suit changed from movie to movie but the rogue one suit is the same as the new hope one. the rest is accurate though.
The robe is over the shoulder only in A new hope. Ep 5 and 6 had it under. Ep3 had it under and Rogue one has it under. At this point it's the Ep4 version that "isn't right". Depending how tight the robe is I guess it's always possible to pull the head, cape and shoulder armor off and just change the order you put them back to have the robe over the shoulders. Custom Rogue one Vader with EP4 screen accurate look.

Banana Gun is absolutely right. In 'A New Hope' Vader wore the 'tunic' type garment (under the cape) over his chest armor, leaving only the middle part of the chest armor visible. Since the final scene of 'Rogue One' took place just before the beginning of 'A New Hope', we can again see that Vader wore the 'tunic' over his chest armor. So the makers of 'Rogue One' payed close attention to this detail, and got it right. In my humble opinion, Hot Toys got it wrong, if they call this Vader the 'Rogue One' version. I own this figure, and it's a very high-quality figure, but it's just another Vader figure. NOT the Vader we see in 'Rogue One' exactly. Hopefully, Hot Toys pays more attention to detail next time...
The right tusk being not as silver is accurate
Not bad but it is missing a few crucial details that differentiates it from episodes 5 and 6.
Dont know why they didn't just set a peg into each glove as there's no articulation anyway except to rotate.You might be able to get the pegs out with needlemose pliers.Failing that you could try heating up the glove with peg in and click back into the arm and pull off again quick.The glove slightly softened may pop off easier.The stand/backdrop look cheap, but the figure looks good and that is the main thing.Light sabre should light up though.Have seen the cathode ones but even a led is better than nothing.How much is the retail price for this?The sound feature is not necessary but I hope this is reflected in the price.The last release was badly designed and not worth the money for a feature you have to undress the figure everytime you want to use it.I hope this is a good figure despite the nitpicks as it is a main character that I would get even if I don't buy any other sws figures.Does look good with the interactive stormtroopers.I said I wasn't gunna buy any star wars stuff but feel I'm getting led down a dark alley and Howard Chan is waiting with lube in hand.

Well this version is from Rouge one, and we dont know if Vader is gonna say anything and they had to get their rights on those voice sampels.

there is still a mistake with this figure, in rogue one and a new hope , Darth's chest piece is under his robe. It's in Empire that his chest piece is on top. Big shame
Yeah, I'm surprised that they screwed that part up in Rogue One. But who knows, maybe Vader changed his outfit before boarding the Tantive IV in ANH?
Supposedly this was supposed to be an ESB Vader.
The mistake your referring too is very, very easily rectified by slipping the chest armour under the tunic,its no big deal, nor a 'BIG SHAME".
Boba Vader I just put the armor back on top as other photos from the movie show it that way.....But like you said, easy fix.

You can easily fix that, the robes can be put over his armor.
The codpiece is different from all other versions...really prominent on this one. Looks like a mangina.

For such an expensive figure I can't believe they got the cloth OVER the chest plate detail wrong. Vader looks like that for rogue one and new hope. Beautiful figure but utterly ruined now.
