    Wow, Dave. You’ve said so many words in such a little time. 😁 Lovely video. ❤️
    The very first game I ever bought was 7 Wonders, back in 2017 I think. And for years I had only 4 games in my “collection”. In January of 2021 however I started watching some videos about board games (mainly because I was bored) and I was introduced to Root. I loved it so much that I bought a copy the very next day and this started an avalanche 😅
    Today my collection has 67 base games and 70 expansions (according to BGG). A month ago I’ve received the entire Vital Lacerda collection (minus Time machine) which I wanted for so long. I don’t play favourites with my games because I love them all. I tried once to do a top 50 list - it was a nightmare 😅
    But the 3 most played by far are Pandemic, Clank! (With many many expansions) and Sleeping gods - my best game for last year.

      Hey there, Terry! Thank you so much for your thoughtful comment; I really appreciate it! (I did say so many words in those 40 minutes... some people think I talk way too fast but I'm glad you saw that as a positive!) 😁
      7 Wonders is a great first game to buy; I still think it's such an amazing games! I was the same way in that I only had those five games I mentioned at the beginning of the video for the longest time! But then Stone Age started the avalanche for me! Sounds like you've got a few more board games than I do (62), but I've got more expansions! (Maybe that'll be a future video!) And you have the entire Lacerda collection? I'm so jealous! I was just talking to @Pop Gas about On Mars and Kanban EV! I have yet to play a Lacerda game, but I'm sure it's just a matter of time! (I haven't played Sleeping Gods yet either but I think I will be soon! It looks so good!)

Exploding potions looks amazing and def 1 I need to research more about. It might be the only other game other than Chinese checkers that has marbles in it. Castles of burgundy and everdell are also on my list to learn more about. I think if we were to play a game it would have to be an Azul marathon. Great video!! Such a great range of games, from light party games to the heavier "thinky" games too. I have a pretty similar collection, I too really like Robinson Crusoe, in fact bought the expansion box with all of the expansions - haven't even opened it!! This was a good reminder. Also I think I want to get Concordia - played that once before and really liked it, but forgot about it! It's like the old days of walking into a video rental store - "what movie did we want to rent? I don't know...let's look around fo 3 hours and leave...!" These are great reminders, thanks. I think my faves are Great Western Trail and Maracaibo (bought that at an AWESOME boardgame cocktail dinner HUGE place in Portland, OR)
    Also - do you ever buy games that yout THINK you'll love, maybe you do love, but just can't get other people interested??? I have several of those sadly...(1830, Twilight Struggle, several war games hehe)

I love the game; wish I played it more! And we have very similar tastes: Maracaibo is my #2 game and Great Western Trail is my #3! (A Feast for Odin is sitting at #1!) What is a board game cocktail dinner? That sounds amazing!
      Hmm... nothing comes to mind right now! If I can't think of people that will play a game with me, I usually won't buy it. Maybe Lewis & Clark, which I tried to sell a year ago but I still have it! Wish I could help you with those heavy war games, but those aren't necessarily my cup of tea, either! ☕️

    I loved this whole video! I'm only at around 14 games in my collection but I can see that throughout your purchases you were getting games that filled different interests or scratched different itches. my goal is to have a very similar collection! i jotted down a bunch of yours thanks :D Do you have an upper cap (in terms of number of games) you're allowing yourself to own? I do struggle sometimes with feeling like i should prioritize playing each game I buy more but there's so many so very different games out there!!
    Also, one more question: out of all your games, which one do you feel is the most thematic with the gameplay?

    • @BoardGameDave
      @BoardGameDave  Před 5 měsíci

      Hello again! Thank you for your comment! ☺️ Have you gotten any more games since you left this comment? Which of my games in my collection are you most eager to add to your own? As for an upper cap for myself I've always thought that 100 games would be a nice round easy-to-stick-to limit to the number of games I'd own but somehow I've even exceeded that number! I think I'll start listing some of my games that don't get played often on the BGG Marketplace soon to cull the collection a little! (Maybe you'd be interesting in buying some of them!) 📦 And gosh-that's a very tough question! The most thematic game in my collection might be... well, here are a few: Western Legends, Hellapagos, and Robinson Crusoe! All very different games but all worth looking into! ☺️

    • @queerissimo
      @queerissimo Před 5 měsíci

      @@BoardGameDave haha I feel that. I have a big chest of sorts that contain my games and my rule is it can't exceed the chest but it's already 65% full and it isn't even 20 games T_T ) I basically jotted down all the ones that involved ships or sailing or water in some way! I think im really attracted to that theme-- unfortunately I don't own any! OO Western legends may be fun for my group and my partner definitely likes that theme- i don't have any sandbox type games so could be a fun one to add. I also wanted to get "for sale" to play with some non gamer friends but been debating to get that or High society (the art!)
      I got a gift card to a hobby shop and picked up Orleans! Excited to try a bag builder (kind of wanted a generic medieval themed euro with a lot of fiddly components!) oh and castles of burgundy was ordered right after i saw this video. it was sitting in my wishlist for a while and you said it was great I thought "well ok then I'm sold"

    @BoardGameDave Mentioned to my wife about how succinctly you were able to go through an entire collection and she was like, well, I'll bet he doesn't have a shelf of shame that's 100+ games which makes me have to ask, is there a secret shelf of shame or do you just play every game you own?

      @BoardGameDave  Před 2 lety +1

      Hey again! Nope, no secret shelf of shame! Luckily I've been able to get almost every single game I own to the table! I think the only exceptions are Moonshine Empire, Endeavor: Age of Sail, and (of course) Cheaty Mages! I think there's a little anxiety when there's a game in my collection that I haven't played, and I'm always so excited to get a new game to the table immediately (and Hannah is always willing to play a new game with me) so typically games don't stay unplayed for very long!
