  • Hey there! This is a video I've wanted to make for a long time now: our favorite two-player games! I often see requests for recommendations for games that play well at two players on Facebook and Instagram and I figured bringing Hannah on to talk about some of our favorites might be a nice way to get these games on some folks' radars! Every single game on this list is one that we find ourselves drawn to over and over again and none of them have started to feel old in the slightest! ☺️ Thank you for checking out our video and don't forget to let us know in the comments what some of your favorite two-player games are!

    • @ColonelKurtz
      @ColonelKurtz Před 11 měsíci

      I'm happy with Wingspan Asia, but I wouldn't say it's a must-have. The duet board does spice things up just a smidge, as you place your duet tokens on the board in whichever habitat you played your bird card- matching the symbol on the space (nest type, e.g.) to that of your bird. Some of the spaces will have a bonus (card, food die, or card), and you score points at the end of the game for your longest contiguous connected group of tokens. Some of the round goals also feature the duet board- have the most duet tokens on the edge of the board, e.g.
      It also does include 2 player boards and introduces a way to have a large game of Wingspan (up to 7 players). It kind of breaks the game up into two groups of players so two people will take their turns simultaneously (included is a small board to serve as a card tray, another to serve as a bird feeder, more dice and eggs- to accommodate two groups playing at the same time).
      And, of course, there's more bird cards!

      @@BoardGameDave It’s definitely more on the “dry” side, but so is Project L. Chances are she was “allergic” to CoB due to the rules overhead of all the buildings and yellow technologies, etc. it’s a lot for a “non gamer” to take in. I have a feeling it will be the type of game she may love in a few years… after getting more experience in the hobby.
      I think she will love Ark Nova and possibly Grand Austria Hotel because of the themes and how they play.

      I haven't looked into the Asia expansion too much but it is very intriguing the way it works as a 1-2 player standalone game! You've definitely pushed it into my want-to-buy list! ☺ And the Targi expansion looks really good too but I'm the kind of person that doesn't tend to buy expansions until I feel like I need to mix up the base game... but that's been in my want-to-buy for a while now! Obviously we also love Everdell and 7 Wonders Duel is one of my favorite mid-weight games but Hannah wasn't a huge fan, unfortunately! Luckily they put out an official solo mode so I still get a chance to play that great game from time to time! ⚔️

    Very few will sing the praises of Mantis Falls -a two player hidden role/social deduction game. How does that work, you ask? I'll leave you to discover that but just know that it *does* work. There is a three player more but it's basically the two player version with a third player shoehorned in.

    7 Wonders Duel of course, it is a mid-weight games but with the 2 expansions, it becomes an expert game.
    Caylus the original version is an expert game with no luck in 2 players.
    Raja the dice charmers is the best roll and write game in two players.
    Royal Visit is simple, tactic, extremely addictive !
    And so many :
    Orleans, Res Arcana, Newton, Lorenzo, Ark nova, Carnegie, Concordia, splendor duel, codex naturalis, terraforming mars, caper europe.
