Xbox has made one of the most baffling decisions in the history of gaming by closing two prestigious studios, Tango Gameworks, and Arkane Austin. It has made it abundantly clear to gamers everywhere that Xbox is run by idiots. But what exactly makes this decision so baffling, (I thought I was done with this word) and why has everyone turned against Xbox? Well as the Master Chief says, I need a weapon. So strap in boys and girls, and let's get down to business.

HI-FI Rush proves they don't know what constitutes as a good game any more, they had banger on their hand and didn't even know it. They pushed the game out of the side door and were totally embarrassed/confused/flabbergasted by its success and ultimately shuttered the studio that made it. Utterly clueless managment.

All they had to do was do Halo 3.5 and they couldn't even get that right, they couldn't even remaster two decades old software without butchering classic masterpieces. I remember back when Banjo Kazooie were about to be announced for Smash that Phil Spencer almost ruined the whole reveal by telling people to basically expect it prior to E3.
It's a very minor thing, but it's yet another detail that shows the fact that they don't take their positions seriously.

But when Xbox came up to Nintendo with an offer to buy them out, Nintendo laughed at them.
They only want Nintendo because it's a power move, it's all about power, They worship power.
Funny how even though the Big 3 are all problematic in their own ways, Nintendo seems to be the only one putting out major success for their IPs and their studios. Hell, they bought Monolith Soft over 15 years ago and that decision has been paying off massively with them being a major help with some of Nintendo's big IPs alongside their own series, Xenoblade Chronicles.

@alexcrock7942 Sony has some good IPs, but Nintendo has the better line-up of IPs due to how iconic they are and how timeless their games can be. Your average person can recall more Nintendo IPs and their games than they can of Sony and Xbox. And the Wii U was a flop, but Nintendo immediately bounced back with the Switch.
Big red flags were already there when Phil was going around touting their"hands off" approach of "letting developers realize their creative vision" as anything but mismanagement. A game like Red Fall happening under their wing is embarrassing. The sophistry about letting developers be independent doesn't work when it supercedes basic quality control and direction. Their entire model has been throwing huge piles of money and buying everyone and then doing fuckall with all of it.
This. Microsoft gave them benchmarks to meet but then said do it yourself, figure it out. Knowing Microsoft, they probably saw the developers 2022 metrics and told them to up it 60%, somehow.
The problem is they were hands off with the wrong people. MS was hands off the parent company and publishers. They say they were hands off with studios but in the case of Arkane Austin, nobody at that studio wanted to make RedFall. They were told to make it by parent company Zenimax. MS should have intervened on behalf of Arkane Austin but they deferred to Zenimax.
@@minhduong1484 Redfall started development in 2017, and Microsoft acquired Bethesda in July 2021. Microsoft had no influence in the making of Starfield, HiFi Rush, and Redfall. These are Zenimax develop games that Microsoft published.

Xbox 360 era was a happy medium of gaming passion and technological advancement. Nowadays it’s about revenue and having the highest specs on a passionless, empty game. That barely scratch the itch we all had back then.
Perhaps the new generation of gamers doesn’t have the luxury experience we had. Pay to win. Season driven instead of story driven. Using old IPs and characters to promote their new and vanilla games. Using false promises to only get the games finished 2+ years after release.
I guess money isn’t everything after all.
Games used to question reality. They actually had a lot of philosophy and what if’s. They reflected on the world around them. I’ve yet to play a game that I can take my time to enjoy nowadays. Might just be getting old.
Recently I’ve really enjoyed INSIDER. Also Dragon ball The Breakers. Titanfall 2 MP.

There IS a reason why they shut down the studios. Its an understundable, but not good reason. Heres a flowchart to see if your studio gets shut down: "does your game do as much/more money than CoD?" Yes: you live another day. No: i know, thats why we're at the guilliotine.

The fact is, Xbox Games has never(!) had the culture of grooming or cultivating quality first party development teams that make killer apps. They bought their way into the industry from day 1. Halo, Gears of War, all exclusive acquisitions they made on games that were in development already. As soon as the teams that made the original trilogies left they didn't know wtf to do with the IP. The 360 era was carried by them being the defacto system for 3rd party games, some 2nd party studios like Bungie and Cliff's Gears of War team.. and the 1 year head start, not to mention Sony's early mistakes that gen like being 200 dollars more expensive than your main competitor. Once Sony got their act together and Xbox's 2nd party talent stopped renewing their contracts they've been slamming their dicks in the door. The entire uppper management team needs to be fired or needs to resign.

I saw a recent video talking about these exact same things, the success of hi-fi rush, the closure of Tango, the incompentcy of Microsoft and the higher ups at Xbox, he claims that they don't care about all of their games and studios because it's not making money like Call of Duty. If what has been said is true, companies like Xbox need investors' money to make games. Investors like Blackrock want specific guidelines meant, and those guidelines are DEI approved. The game is then made to those standards, and then it comes out with people hating it.
Irony is that if they just ignored BlackRock and DIE politics they would maybe have a bit less for development but would cash in milions if not bilions in sales. Yet they choose to just loose eberything

Gaming on PC is actually EASIER now than on console.
I had a PS4 and an xbox One S, and although the ps4 behaved like a classic console (no internet required, no mandatory psn, no mandatory updates, just insert game disc and play) the xbox one was a NIGHTMARE, it wouldn't even BOOT without internet.
Sold the xbox within 2 months, the ps4 I kept for 4 years until the last AAA games were released.
When I found out the PS5 behaved just like my xbox one, I gave up on buying one and instead bought a gaming PC.
NO REGRETS.

Don't EVER FORGET Microsoft has massacred Rareware. Sea Of Thieves is passable at best, completley mediocre at launch and total garbage by Rarewares old legendary games quality. No Banjo Threeie ever, no Conkers Bad Fur Day 2, Conker hasn't been used once except for a half-baked reskin remake. Disgraceful Microsoft.

I got series X when my og Xbox One cooked itself after years of playing (didnt know you had to chnage thermal paste and not just clean it). But allong the way i also got a gaming PC that eats curent gen consoles for breakfast. I preffer the PC off course but at least i can comtinue to play some games with my lil bro

It hurts to see Xbox stoop this low. And I used to have faith in Phil Spencer when he tried to salvage the reputation of the Xbox One from 2016 all the way to the end of the 8th generation. I had hope for this generation and they proceeded to dig themselves into an even bigger hole, not even exclusives wise, but with the Series S as well. So glad I switched to PC. But my 360 and One S will always have a special place in my heart
When they bought Bethesda I didn't care too much cuz Bethesda doesn' t make anything I like besides, like, Doom. But when they bought Activision I said, 'this is bad, this is going to be bad.' And the Xbots didn't listen. Everyone who said it would end badly got called a sony pony. Well, here we are. I kept asking, why would a company who can't manage their first party studios, can't turn out regular hits, buying up one of the big three western (activision, ubisoft, EA) publishers, be a good thing? I still haven't gotten an answer. The courts letting the merger go through was one of the biggest anti-trust fails in decades.
I sold my Xbox and got an Apple Watch S9 upgraded from my S5. You know something I can use Daily without problems of not knowing what quality it’ll have for me. Xbox is Done for me I’ll continue to play my 360 since it was the Best era of Xbox. But thats it really!

My brother bought an Xbox 360 purely due to how his friends also had the same console. That was a generation that was about Xbox basically winning while PlayStation 3 was in the dust for a good while. I got to play stuff like GTA IV and other games that I got to experience that weren't on the Wii. Then Xbox Series X was to have backwards compatibility and that was what I wanted more above anything else since I knew modern games we're going to become more and more broken. I then found some games that I'm glad to have done to play like rare replay and others along with being able to play GTA IV at 60fps which was nice until the last mission. Everything was great and I got to experience Hi-Fi Rush which was my favorite game of 2023. 2 months before they close down Tango GameWorks, I literally was falling back in love with Hi-Fi Rush and thought I want to play the game again. As the school semester ended and I was about to start a job for the summer, they then drop the news the day of working which destroyed me on the inside. I feel like both the faces of Xbox and Microsoft higher ups really are both to blame but it is pretty abysmal for them to not even be able to manage almost anything at all along with not even getting their story straight with their reasoning of why this is all happening. I already knew I wasn't going to buy the next Xbox console for it being most likely digital only, but this just shows how I can never go and enjoy any of their content whether it's physical or all digital knowing that any studio behind the game could be on the chopping block. I can already see Ninja Theory being shut down due to Hellblade 2 not succeeding after all of what's happened which would be a horror story to see come to life. Xbox really has almost nothing at all anymore.

They’re likely going to effectively close most of the studios outside or Elder Scrolls, Doom, Fallout, Diablo etc. DoubleFine and Ninja Theory are probably done after PS5 ports of their last games released.

As someone who specifically has done work in leadership development I think Satya Nadella has had TOO MUCH trust in delegating to Phil Spencer and that clearly needs to change. The problem is Xbox probably doesn’t matter enough to Satya. Satya is a phenomenal leader and CEO, he basically resurrected Microsoft from a pit of stagnation. He did that in large part by setting a common vision and then delegating a lot of leadership to different experts and acting as the anchor to them. Phil is the problem here and the continued trust in him is clearly misplaced.
Also it’s worth noting that Dishonored and Prey aren’t totally cooked as a lot of that team was Arkane Lyon. Sad to see Austin go though as I know they played a HEAVY auxiliary role that will now be pressed onto Lyon.
The intro is so freaking accurate. And at the same time so damn sorrowful. I had hopes for mikes owning real talented potentials in Tangoworks and Arkane. And what now? The 1st is executed, and the 2nd one is injured. And who knows whether the injury will bring an infection? But somehow I feel it already spreading...
Xbox showcase better be a redemption arc for them and we do need 343 industry they are the saviors now! Matt booty will stay forever and hes great too! Gears 6, Halo 6 and my god i need blinx badly if this happens i will forgive them hands down and i know you will too people including you zitiboy!

Sold my Xbox a few months back after 16 years and went to playstation, and I've been playing the best games I've played in my life. Days done, TLOU, ghosts of Tsushima,Spiderman, ratchet and clank, and man Helldivers 2 wow! Horizon forbidden west and so much more , paired with the excellent haptic controller and excellent trophy platinum system. Plus loads of accessories like the portal which I got as well. Would never go back now.
I can't wait until Soyny also keeps despising their fanbase too. Stellar Blade censorship, Helldivers 2 psn required, terrible Sony security suc in lemons, Ghosts of Tushima being delisted in more than half the world....yeah.
I'd recommend not supporting either console at this point.

Trying to drop the console hate, I think the solution is for gamers on both consoles to stop supporting BOTH Microsoft and Sony. They only listen to one thing, and it's money.

3. Remakes don't count to you and that's your opinion. In fact, alot of gamers talk about playing newer versions of old games they played; so you and I both know that there is nothing inherently wrong with remakes, quite the opposite. Problems arise when remakes are handled poorly or the general public doesn't see it necessary to remake a certain game.
4. What about TLOU2 and Spider-Man 2 supports the idea that Sony hates us? TLOU2 was controversial for it's story and how it handled its characters, it was honestly just Neil Druckman(Naughty Dog) being edgy. However the gameplay itself was absolutely amazing and far better than the first one. I played it for it's gameplay only and had a blast. Spider-Man 2 had it's cringe moments but once again, the gameplay and suits balanced it out. It was odd that they changed Mary Jane's look but there is nothing wrong with a woman having a strong jaw, in fact alot of female models have broader than normal jawlines, it's almost a requirement. Not everyone likes women with a teenager aesthetic.
5. Like I said in the beginning, you're coming off as a miserable xbox fan who wants us PS fans to feel just as bad but in reality we shouldn't. Is Sony perfect, hell no but the least they can do is give us great games, which they do. That's the only real reason why you xbox fans are upset, ya'll don't care about what happens in and around the xbox business, and you shouldn't have to but ya'll aren't getting amazing exclusives like you should. Stop supporting Microsoft/Xbox, come to PS or Nintendo or PC and take a chill pill but wanting us to be just as miserable as ya'll is not gonna work.

Number 3, Sony's security has been an issue for a long time, hence why the helldivers 2 issue was so big, the censorship wasn't blown out of proportion. Why do they feel the need to censor an M rated game. It's already rated M not rated T or lower. Sonys security being so dogwater is definitely not how to look out for their core audience.

HUH? Lol, I'm definitely an Xbox guy, and I agree with a ton of what you said. But my PlayStation has been collecting dust since Spiderman 2 in like October. They haven't been putting out great games that at Least I really want to play like they used to. Ragnarok, Spiderman 2(that disappointed me) and I guess Horizon but I didn't even play it yet, going to wait for it to be dirt cheap.

Fun fact, since Spidey 2 there’s been more exclusives (1st or 3rd party) released for PlayStation than Nintendo and Xbox combined

I couldn't give a sh*t about Grandblue, and FF never mattered to me in the slightest and it also underperformed.. If it wasn't enough of an exclusive for me to turn on my PS5 for it, then it's irrelevant.. Ghost of Tsushima 2? That is a BIG exclusive.

So if you think gaming is in drought, that’s on you tbh. Try more genres. I personally couldn’t care less about Ghost of Tsushima 2 or even Spiderman 2 but the games that have made me turn on my PS5 have all been eastern exclusives like Granblue, FF7 Rebirth (my GOTY), Stellar Blade, Rise of the Ronin etc

I like PLENTY of games, but we're talking about exclusive hits, Xbox has been lacking, and PS has been lacking. Although I do agree it's partly because a bunch of games got delayed and we got them all last year, but it still has been disappointing, unless you like FF and those style games. But even then, it sucks. They have more money than they ever have, more people, more studios, we should be having more big AAA hits, not way less.

Listen I grew up with Xbox, I have good memories playing Halo 3, Reach, all the Gears saga and the Kinect games, I’m not a fanboy just a normal fan, but all this sucks and I’m not trusting* them neither Sony so I’m not in one “side” I just want good games and this all sucks

Xbox is such a baffling console brand. The Series X is still my most played console because I love Quick Resume, backwards compatibility, Play Anywhere, easy cloud saves, and just how pleasant it feels using it for multimedia like CZcams and Twitch (yeah, I watch Twitch on the TV sometimes).
But their management! What the heck is their problem?? It seems like whenever Xbox has an amazing game on their hands it's always in spite of the brand, not because of it. Even Halo when it was at its best saw Bungie constantly butting heads with management. I don't think I'll ever forgive Xbox closing down Tango Gameworks almost immediately after releasing Hi-Fi Rush and just before they were about to get development for a sequel approved. _Why??_
The extra features of Xbox are nice, but it will always be the games I'm most focused on. They're what make a console special. If you close down all your studios, there's no one left to make games for it.

Pretty sure the four studios were closed because Bethesda underperformed (again) and you can't just close Bethesda. That way you save costs and Bethesda can continue working on their next failure (TES VI).
