India's protein deficiency stems from historical dietary patterns favoring carbohydrates over proteins, compounded by socio-economic factors limiting access to quality protein sources. To address this, promoting awareness on balanced nutrition, subsidizing protein-rich foods for the underprivileged, and incentivizing agriculture for protein crops like pulses are crucial steps.

    1)Hinduism which preaches vegetarianism

Most of the Haryanvis, Punjabis, Rajasthanis and Gujaratis are vegetarian but protein deficiency is not a big problem for them. On the other hand, most of the people from Bihar, Jharkhand, West Bengal and Odisha are non-vegetarian but protein deficiency is a big problem for them.
And digestive systems of humans and vegetarian animals are very similar.
A vegetarian animal contains both types of intestines. But meat-eating animals contain only one intestine.

It translates to Rs 100 per day for average 60 kg person. if a family have four members, cost of protein will be Rs 12000 per month which is higher than average wage. There is no way that India's protein consumption can be increased before average income rise.
