      @dorsetgravelandroadcycling1181  Před 3 lety +1

      Hi Jason. Yes the FSA BB doesn’t work with Shimano. I found a good deal on a rotor BB. The great thing about the Topstone is that it’s a standard threaded road BB so they are cheap and work perfectly. The FD I didn’t need to touch at all which was a bonus.

    Hi there,
    Don't know if you're still reading these, but I've just bought one of these second-hand as my first gravel bike and I'm thinking of similar upgrades (GRX crank, better wheelset...) I love the purple anodized bits you have on here - what brand are they, and did you buy them all at the same time?

    I'm weighing up this or the Carbon 5 in Purple. Do you think the Carbon is a good upgrade over the 2? The kingpin suspension on the Carbon looks good but might be a compromise on road sections.

    • @dorsetgravelandroadcycling1181
      @dorsetgravelandroadcycling1181  Před 3 lety

      Hi Iain, I think the carbon would be better all round. It is lighter and stiffer. If your going to do miles and miles on road my only recommendation would be to use a pair of 30c or wider road tyres. Off the the kingpin will be amazing.

      @@dorsetgravelandroadcycling1181 Cheers. I've secured a Carbon 5 coming in June at the 'old' price, but was thinking whether the 2 would be better and use the difference in cost to get a decent set of wheels. I'm getting back into riding after a 10 year break, so I'll be starting small but want a bike that'll future proof me. I was looking at Orbea but their prices have just jumped up as well.

      I've just put a deposit down on this bike. Is yours a medium or large? I'm 5'8 and was adviced to order a medium. Really excited, looks brilliant. I'm from a MTB background but haven't ridden for a few years now and excited to get into the gravel/road scene. Thanks for the review as there's not many about for this bike, mainly the carbon versions. Upgrades look good, I'll bare in the mind the handlebar tape 👍

    • @dorsetgravelandroadcycling1181
      @dorsetgravelandroadcycling1181  Před 3 lety +1

      Hi Adam. I think from memory differences are the groupset saddle and colour. The 2 is GRX400 hydro disc 10 speed and the 3 is Sora 9 speed cable disc. The 2 gets a fabric saddle whereas the 3 has a cannondale stage cx saddle.

      @@dorsetgravelandroadcycling1181 thank you for the details ! But when riding a bike is there a real difference to the point of putting 500€ more ? I m still a novice in the gravel sector and it would be my first

    • @dorsetgravelandroadcycling1181
      @dorsetgravelandroadcycling1181  Před 3 lety +2

      No problem at all. Personally I think the upgrades are worth it. Going hydro disc on its own is a huge upgrade. When your doing 20/25 mph down a hill you want to know that your brakes will stop you. Add to that the fact that the rear mech on the 2 is clutched (this keeps the chain tight) which not only reduces chain slap but also almost eliminates the worry of the chain coming off. I’ve just had a look and on the 2 you get a better wheelset, seat post, chainset, bottom bracket and tyres. The 2 comes tubeless ready. I would say if your budget can get the 2 go for it!
