- INSANE Car Recovery - Mercedes GL550 in a TREE! Ever seen George of the Jungle? It's been a while but I don't remember George driving a Mercedes LOL. The driver of this Mercedes GL550 SUV somehow launched himself (or herself) off the freeway, landing right in the middle of a bunch of trees. Alex responded in Big Flipper, our 75ton rotator, assisted by Rudy in a flatbed/rollback.
Normally you try to retrieve a vehicle by pulling it from the way it came in. Here, Alex made the call to do it from the surface street down below instead of from the freeway. He made the correct call as he had much more room to work in and it was much safer as opposed to working on a busy live freeway. We don't always get the luxury, but it worked out great here.
B/A car recovery straps were used to first winch the Mercedes SUV out of the trees, then it was set down on level ground. From here, Alex and Rudy rigged all 4 tires for a clean lift, so it can be swung directly onto the flatbed and ready for transport. No clue on the condition of the driver since they took off on foot prior to anyone showing up.
How did Alex and Rudy do?

This man has a PhD in practical mechanical engineering.
Just a stunning talent in what he does every day.
Alex functions as a seasoned professional. If I recall correctly, he has not been doing this very long. I enjoy his explanations and the close up views of the rigging. Of course, video editing is supurb. Your video made my Saturday.
Driver must've just watched "Secret Garden" and got inspired. Nice job getting it out!
😂
ALEX AND FLIPPER ARE BASICALLY A DYNAMIC DOU NOW.👌👌👍👍
Alex and Rudy, great job. Don't often see cars in trees, lol. You guys made it look easy. Stay safe out there.
Perhaps ask Josh if it could have been brought out using four wheels and avoided any rear damage. Good decision to use exit ramp!
😊😊
Josh, I'm home now after the 3-strokes that occurred on 8/28/23. Hospitalization until 9/6/23 and rehab finished 9/22/23. Getting better slowly at home. My Black cat Betty-boo couldn't stop talking to me, even after she burrowed her way under the sheet. I have a feeling that she missed me. I made a 6-qt pot of chili this morning, just for good measure. I have the slow cooker set for 20 hours.
Human pinball time. Had to be quite a ride. Pretty slick way of getting it out. Drone shots are looking pretty cool. So Josh is giving up Hulk for a new 50 ton... never thought I'd see the day. Who is going to roll Big Flipper, or is it on specialty duty now?
Love seeing a job done right looks like the cops could have blocked one lane for you guys .
Absolutely! It is so dangerous that the drivers are even in that lane. Yet they don't even slow down! Their careless driving can lead to injuries or worse. This is a big failure of the police.
Or a big failure of the drivers.@@jeffryblackmon4846
Police shortages big time all over America
@@jeffryblackmon4846 The cop was sitting in his suv eating his donuts, unaware of speeding traffic.
Alex is becoming very good 😊 great video Joshua ❤
Yes he is, and thanks Nathan
Another great recovery Alex... good work.....Stay safe you all
Path of least resistance in this case: straight up! Good job.
Alex and Rudy did a great job. Name on this video fits (Insane) Car Recovery.
Great job Alex and Rudy fishing that Mercedes out of the trees! Their insurance will be a lot higher on their next vehicle!
More than likely they’ll claim it was stolen
In other words they crashed and left the scene!@@PepesTowingService
@edwinschlee8374 bingo lol. Happens all too often
Reporting it as theft was my first thought as well. It'll come back to bite them if it's a false claim. GPS info will incriminate them. Insurance is wise to that crap...
Alex does an awesome job explaining the how and why he sets up as he does.
Another awesome performance 🤓🙋♂️👍
once again you guys are the best...Be safe out there! BLESS YOU!
Mr Josh Thanks for sharing and stay safe
Job well done.
Beautiful pictures.
It's just that it's dangerous to work on a section of road where traffic doesn't take it easy.
Looking very good 👍👍👍👍👍 nice work 😊
Alex and Rudy, both height restricted (as i am) but Giants of the industry. Fantastic job as usual, poetry in motion.(i have a little step in my toolbox for reach 😂)
Good morning from Southeast South Dakota
Lol at 11:18 "gonna need a wheel alignment" that thing needs more then a wheel alignment 😅😂
Nice job getting it out 👍
Nice work guys...!
Alex another great video! You guys make something hard look so easy! Thanks for sharing! Kevin
Alex awesome text book recovery of that car
Alex to the rescue again!
Ever thought of a permanent docking for the drone on a couple of the trucks? That sounds like a MacGyver thing...
Absolutely not lol. It’s way too expensive to and the sensors wouldn’t let it land near the boom
@@PepesTowingService Okay. I guess I'll settle for your patented jump onto the back of the rollback. That's impressive. 😉
another good job done Alex.
cool short and owned thankyou bro
Pepe's picking em' out of the trees, what next. LoL. Great job guys.
Tree fishing!!!
Another nice job guys peace fr Canada.
between the trees ...
great job, josh..
Did we hear correctly that you’re getting a new 50 ton rotator and handing over the Hulk to Alex? Another good video by the way.
Yup, the secret is out !
@@PepesTowingService Ill bet it will have another cool theme!
@SuchManor I’m sticking with hulk but as far as a final design I’m still undecided
@@PepesTowingServiceI didn’t think you would give up Hulk without a fight or at least a cooler truck if that is possible
@gavinperry7237 I’m not giving up anything I’m upgrading to a dual H beam platform 2024 50ton
Kind of casual about stepping into that live traffic lane dudes!
Look like you’re in the tree trimming business {LOL}
Did you disturb the nest??
I know exactly where you are at I used to live right there that off ramp is like NASCAR to the pits!
first? LOL. now that I watched the whole video, nicely done guys... I wish I could come hang out with you for a couple days
👍Very good camera
Good morning from Reno
Dam thats open expensive fish you caught hopefully its not too totalled.
Where were the cops and why is the traffic so close to the wrecker and why isn’t that inside lane blocked off? Dangerous!!!
Good thing no one was living inside those trees.
looks like the storm treed a Benz
18.07 is that a M18 FCOS230? Didnt know that, looks nice.
It would have been a nice touch if Police had shut the one lane down for safety.
They were both kind of casual about stepping in the live lane, traffic pretty fast.
Josh u sure put on a show😊
I’m not in this video at all
@@PepesTowingService I'm just joshing you do awesome work I drove a tow for 39 yrs it's 10pct training 90pct common sense
Now I see the cop with the drone, but the lane should still be blocked off!
It's a shame about the GL550. But it can still be repaired.
"4matic"......benz driver read the brochure and thought they were invincible from hydroplaning.
😊👍
Just like fishing
🇬🇧. Nice job tricky lift , but why didn't you clean up all the parts of the car left behind ??? .
If they had used Miracle Grow they might have gotten a 580
NICE CATCH! What did you use for bait?
Alex is going fish for a Mercedes
Fishing
The owner of the car will tell you "I'M SOOOOOO SARRRE.
🤘🤘🤘
I bet speed had apart of it too
100%
Is it considered totaled
I forgot to mention, but my first thought when I saw the car in the trees is that Alex was going to climb the tree to attach the rigging.s Really.
To hev for flipper lol she give flipper fight lol😅
My only question is why chains on the wheels instead of rim slings?
These BA car straps are far superior in every way
@@PepesTowingService But chains were used to attach the straps to the aluminum wheels. Those wheels could be very expensive to have chain damage on them.
Chain damage ? Dude the car flew at 75mph off the freeway and crashed into the trees. The chain goes behind the spoke and is 7/16”. Do you honestly think these wheels were pristine before ? If it’s a Lamborghini or car in precarious spot with no damage then ya you use other methods. To pull a car out of trees, this is acceptable. Like the guy is going to come pick up his car , see it’s mangled and then say “wait a minute, I think I see a scuff on the rim that wasn’t there!” It’s going to copart anyway
@@PepesTowingService One of the things that I have been impressed with about Pepe's towing is how you always try to avoid further damage which is why I noticed the chains on this job.
Is UNIT 71 a PETERBILT 379 & what year is it?
Short people, you and Ron Pratt, both need extension boots so you are tall enough. Just pulling your leg I have you by a few inches at 6' 1-1/2".
Who woke up the cop?
Dont forget you have cones for your safety. Please!
Do you use the 6 rotators or the 15 wrecker to lift a car more often?
Diamond bar and Roland heights are all the same THEY CAN'T DRIVE!
Why did you use chains on the wheels instead of nylon Straps
lol is this serious ? The BA car straps used here are the absolute best tool for vehicles. You’re welcome to fix the rest of the car yourself, and I’ll polish the single spoke per tire.
Lol
thought it was a tree hugger again
all that weight on that front axel hope this car gets fixed
Lmao are you joking ? Because flying off the freeway and into trees didn’t do anything to it. Lifting it up and out tho did, right ?
My friend who owns a towing company has done train derailment recoveries with rotator trucks. If there was a derailment would the rotators & semi's be the only trucks to go?
Ummm is this serious ? What else would you possibly send. Nothing is stronger in a towing fleet than a rotator, why even consider sending anything else
I don't know what else. My friend said a train derailment is an extremely difficult job. Would the semi's get brought in maybe to bring in equipment or to take stuff away from the scene to a different location?
@jonahkasiborski1472 why would we need a semi. You’re over thinking it. Rotators are stocked with everything needed to do the job.
@@PepesTowingService the thing with the semi's my friend is that they could bring in like extra equipment like excavators, bulldozers, front end loaders & even if there is certain things that have to be taken from the scene to wherever it may go.
@jonahkasiborski1472 yes, I’m fully aware of what a semi is and what they can do
When are you getting your 100 ton Miller
We aren’t. Zero need for what we do
AND I STILL TAKE THAT WRECKED VEHICLE OVER A TESLA.
Y did you use chains on the wheels, those wheels are worth a small fortune unless they were visbly damaged and i cannt see that, love the vids keep up the good work.
A small fortune? I can’t tell when people are genuinely obtuse or just joking. Get a grip
usually i understand why you do things the way you do but this one why didn't you pull back out the way it went in looked like would have been easier. but i know things appear different on video rather than being there
He explained his reasoning in the first two minutes of the video
People don’t listen lol, just try to be arm chair quarterbacks. What’s safer, pulling from the road below where he can work in safety or on the damn freeway lmao. How is that not obvious and the clearly smarter choice
@@PepesTowingService listen smart ass I have watched your channel a long time have learned a lot this time I missed something and didn't understand so I ask a question to understand and learn. I always give u a thumbs up you always do a great job and try to thank you for sharing. If I had known what a smart ass you were would have quit watching a long time ago. I just wanted to understand you asshole
I like your videos better than joshes you’re a humble driver, your heads, not swollen like his he be talking too much shit how good he is we know how good he is so he didn’t have to remind us all the fucking time
Spoken like a true clown lol. What video have I posted where I brag I’m so good? First of all, I pity your life that there is nothing you are good and proud at. Being proud of what you do is not a negative. There’s a difference between being proud and happy and bragging. But thanks for watching anyway
How's your channel going. Ever post anything? You iknow that is the key to getting subxcibers!
That s stupped to make more damage on the car
AMAZING JOB LIKE ALWAYS!!
