Oh sorry, the western media didn't show 8 years of Ukrainian RMLS shelling of Donetsk and Lugansk and the deaths of thousands of people. Didn't show how civilians stood up in front of armored vehicles. They didn't show how Ukrainian planes bombed the center of Luhansk. Nor did they show how on May 2 in Odessa nationalists chased almost 50 people into the Trade Union House and burned them with Molotov cocktails. And they finished off those who jumped out of the windows. A future deputy of the Verkhovna Rada, Goncharenko, was happily showing off the burnt corpses. And no one talked about the nationalist battalions Azov and Aidar, which in Donbass were called punishers, and guess why. The list could go on and on. Well, the best humor is still the hilarious events, that really happened, like an old man stealing a russian truck full of ammunition and giving it to Ukrainian army.
Or a case when russian tank group entered a village in Ukraine, and ran out of fuel (happens a lot with russian invading forces in Ukraine due to multiple reasons), while they were searching for fuel, locals had stolen batteries, while they were searching for batteries, locals found out how to start the tanks, fueled them, put the batteries in and drove away to Ukrainian army.
Or one when another group of russian tanks entered a village and ALSO ran out of fuel, they also left tanks and went searching for fuel. The locals put UKRAINIAN flags on the tanks. Another group of RUSSIAN tanks was moving in into same village, saw the flags AND SHOT the tanks from afar destroying all of them...
There are a lot of cool Ukrainian memes about war, but they are in Ukrainian language, and very often also involving some national traits of Ukrainians, if you have a friend from Ukraine, which could translate and explain the background for some of them you would have a really good laugh, and really understand Ukrainian attitude to life and events even better, than in this video :)

I'm from Ukraine, watching this in October 2022:
    1. They had this legend given by their commanders at the very beginning of the war just to tell that they were going to some training, not to fight, but nowadays no one would talk that easily to the occupiers, they would just start to violate.
    3. This situation happened in my region Sumy oblast, near the village of Boromlya I assume. The driver speaks with an accent that is typical for our region. Also, it is not possible to imagine such a situation these days. At the very beginning of the war, there wasn't that much violence committed yet.
    4. The Zmiinyi Island is deliberated. The phrase "russian warship go f*uck yourself" became iconic. Many cars, t-shirts and other merch with this phrase nowadays are everywhere in Ukraine.

I have such newfound love and respect for the ukrainian people. Something you hope from your own people if the time comes but ofc a day never to be seen buy you never know. Humanity has shifted so much in mentality since the mid 1900's. Witg digitalization, social media, pc etc you feel like we've becone mlre lazy, stupid and shallow. But this shows that that core pride and heart to stand up, fight and take real actions is still within. That lsst audio clip is just gold. It says so much, you know you're doomed yet still stick to your guns and basically flip your eneny off in a semi-comedic way. No fear, no surrender, accepting their fate and sends their last words like that for the hell lf it is admirable.

In the last episode, Snake Island (Ukraine). According to legend, Snake Island is the place where the ancient Greek warrior Achilles was buried. This island is one of the symbols of the inflexibility of the Ukrainian people. The territory of Ukraine is the only territory on the planet not covered with marine sediments. This means that it has always been inhabited and served as a refuge. That is why so many legends and folk legends from different countries and continents, from ancient Greece to the Vikings, are woven in Ukraine. So now you see that in peacetime Ukrainians are grain growers and winemakers, good-natured people and revelers, and in wartime they are fearless warriors.
putin (huylo) tried to seize the island from the very beginning - because he is an idiot.

It seems that there is new hope that the soldiers from Snake Island are alive! This just in on BBC News...
"Ukrainian soldiers who were reportedly attacked on Zmiinyi (Snake) island are still alive, according to a statement posted on Facebook by Ukraine's naval services.
"We are very happy to learn that our brothers are alive and well," the statement posted on Monday said.
The sailors "rebuked twice the attacks of the Russian invaders," but could no longer continue to protect the island, the statement continued.
Connection with the island was completely cut off and attempts to reach the sailors futile, after Russian armed forces destroyed its infrastructure, the navy said.

Slava Ukraine!! All my support and donations goto Ukraine.
I still feel bad for the young Russian soldier who die in rows in poorly led attacks avainst heroic Ukrainian defence. (Don't have verified source) Some of the Russian troops seem to be conscripts who started service in december and were forced(/pressured) to sign a contract to become enlisted soldiers, because Russian law doesn't allow conscripts with under years training to be sent to combat. And they die for "the glory of mother Russia" and their families are likely not even told and deaths are covered up. Probaply even with some lies about Ukranian atrocoties. They sacrifice their lives and most likely don't even get proper (military) funeral.
My hart is with Ukraine may all international help and you heroic defense and battle morale save your nation. I donated to the military and to civilian help orgnaisations. The last video is from Snake Island, outside of Odessa, and it had 13 border guards, and it was they who gave the answer to the Russians, whom then bombed them all to death. The Ukrainian president then declared them to be heroes of Ukraine, and gave them posthumous the Ukrainian version of the Medal of Honor.
[Edit:] The Ukrainian navy has reported that the border guards is still alive. They wrote in a statement on Facebook, the island had been bombed and the radiostation had been destroyed and the navy, whom tried to contact them failed to do so, and that's why they had been presumed killed. But, they got an report of what had happened, yesterday (28th of February (the incident happened at the 24th)), that an civilian ship, on humanitarian business, had gone out to the island to rescue survivors, had taken them on board, but was taken by an Russian ship, and captured the border guards. The Russians was late in reporting to them them, and they also told the Ukrainians that the guards were all alive.
Though there is cirkulating different videos on social media's, saying that they are showing the guards. The videos are not confirmed to be them, and they ate all different, some showing torture, some showing them all being well and taken care for. A few have appeared to be debunked and some has not yet been confirmed.
Still, the border guards action on the island, and their answer to the Russian ship, is still an heroic act, and shows the defiance shown by the Ukrainians towards the Russian threats.

According to ancient Greek legend, the goddess Thetis raised the island from the bottom of the sea for her son Achilles. The first mention of the Serpent is found in the message of Arktin, a poet of the middle of the 7th century BC. e .: “Thetis, having come with the muses and sisters, mourns her son; and after that, having kidnapped his son from the fire, he takes him to the White Island.

Tactic to only have the most naive troops be deployed as they are seen as troops who would surrender the quickest in all out war anyway. The intelligent and likely more ruthless troops knew it was bs and probably refused to deploy or were told ok you deploy when it goes badly. At that point you can see sides turning mark my words. And no i’m not pro russian its a comon war tactic to deploy the weaker troops first.

In my country several years ago, we decided to take a different approach when it comes to the military. It used to be a conscription system, but we decided to instead of that, raise the salary and benefits for the military while making it voluntary. The idea is that those that really want to go to the military should be able to go and get the benefits of risking their own lives, while making sure that those that don't want to go, don't get penalized by it. Everyone within the 18- 35 is considered "fit for military service" and then there's the reserve personal (not sure, but i think it goes from 18-60 years old). When the revision to the military service-law took place i benefited from it since i was in my 12th grade at the time, and tbh i'm happy for it... that being said, if anyone tried to invade my country/take over Europe, i would be more than glad to fight for it! Despite my own country having the fortitude to maintain its borders for almost 1000 years, in Europe we've been at war with each other for thousands of years for fkn petty reasons! The European Union was created as a direct response to war within our continent and it has been working reasonably well. Despite all the geopolitical interests between the US and Russia, there is no fkn way any country tries to take over Europe and gets away with it! We might see peaceful, but thousands of years prove otherwise! Fuck Russia and one more of their attempts to take-over Europe!

About Island Zmeyiniy( Island of snakes), it is a base of our military on the boarder near Moldova. There we had a museum also which our soldiers created with ancient artificial stuff. They were flying by helicopter around and checking the Dniester river and seaside.
After they sent russian ship- they had a bombing into their building- 13 soldiers survived and were captured later by russians. But we thought they were dead and gave them award posthumously, cause there was no connection with them after bombing and russians didn’t tell us that they were alive. They just filmed nice movie with actors which were the same in all such videos and said that they saved them and sent home to their families. lol

".. put the seeds in your pocket.. so that they sprout beautiful flowers... when you die.." - is a very old folk verse in Ukraine, which has many variants. In march 2022 - that version (my translation):
    Young Russian boy leaving Pskov
Put flower seeds in a pocket,
    Raw seeds, millet and beans...
Let the salt dry on the mother's eyelashes
Let her be hurt, but let her know:
Son in Ukraine - bloom with color,
And above the head - a peaceful land,
What became the grave of the Kremlin's bastards.
Russian nesting dolls - bloggers, singers,
May you only have nightmares at night.
Everyone who kept silent is an accomplice too,
Although snout he did not come out for the paratrooper.
Everyone who kept silent is pettydick,
Everyone who did not scream is the world's evil.
    Fry cutlets and cook porridge,
The world at this time curses Rusha.
You live like outcasts in poverty and pain.
Do you hear, nesting dolls, Katy`s, Masha`s, Oli`s?
    Salt dries on your eyelashes...
In the spring, near Kiev, beans will sprout.

The snake island had a small Ukrainian outpost. It is a strategic point due to it's proximity to Crimea. I believe Ukrainian coast guard was stationed there.
Recently Snake Island became the new Chornobaivka (famous for Russians using it as an airborne landing zone and destroyed by Ukrainian artillery repeatedly). Russia keeps stationing marines on the island and they keep getting destroyed by drones and missiles.
    Fun fact:
One of Russias 3 leading generals only finished 3rd grade, while Ukrainian generals have multiple higher educations, speak multiple languages and finished international military schools receiving coveted general medals from Queen Elizabeth
