10 years later and youre still helping people with this 1 video, thanks my guy.
i dont remember this at all...
@@callmeavery It happens, but I agree with that statement.
I know this is an old video I just want to thank you I tried to find a video like this but not to many out there still to this day thank you
No problem. Im glad it helped.
Hasn’t changed that much
I want to get that Update again :( ...ah memories
This helped me out, this should be on the official xbox 360 homepage or in the forums. The directions and the process was very clear and good editing btw.
If you were to transfer only 1 branch of data or a certain profile, would the Xbox fat HDD unit still erase all data?
For those who don't know, you should always put the usb transfer cable itself to the computer first before you could attach the hdd.
Same here. Its always good to have someone be helpful and post a tutorial video like this.
thank you, you made a stressful transition into instant satisfaction. thanks for taking the time to make this.
A lack of smooth-editing aside, this was still a well edited and a very good tutorial. 9/10! Heheh.
Thank you very much! This was very helpful and very informational. I'm glad you took us step by step! Very much appreciated! Please do so in other videos and I'll remain a faithful subscriber.
Subbed :)
you have no idea how much this has helped me.im getting an xbox just like the black one you have,a local shop charges £15s to do that for you,so i will definately getting the transfer wire and doing it myself.
Thanks for this video, it's going to help me when I get my new hard drive an transfer my old stuff into the new one.
Does it have to be the official Microsoft brand cable? Their are some online for $5
Has to be the official.
thanks man
Thanks for getting back to me, I went ahead and did it and I have everything. I was just a one of the fools that pre-ordered 2 games to get 2 characters and bought the other 2 off ebay and I was in the beta. So I really didn't want to lose all that and I'm just glad its all there :)
Thank you! This is the only video i found on youtube about this with the same equipment i have! :D new sub
Could I just keep the tranfer cable plugged into my hard and xbox and treat it as another hard drive (external)?
Any chance u got an answer to that ?
Tyler Stodola nope, ya can’t, it can only transfer D:
you still alive?
Can’t wait until next month for both the slim and the cable. Thank you.
Thanx! Transfer was the one thing I wasn't sure about when getting the new xbox
I've done this before but forgot the steps, thanks everything worked just as you showed it.
Bro I'm in the same boat! The console is so awesome but I didn't want to transfer data using a 4GB flashdrive over and over, so I bought a transfer cable and didn't know how the hell to use it. This helped a lot.
thanks for the video man, my old x box got the old red ring of death so i went out and bought a new slim x box and i happen to have a transfer cable and wasnt sure how to transfer the data, this video helped heaps!
Thanks man this was helpful now when i get my new xbox i can get my saves saved
Thanks for the video. My disc drive broke on my old 360 and I had to get a replacement 360 off of eBay. I found one of those special blue ones. They where one of the last ones made so it should last a while.
The best video done on this subject, nice one dude 👍
Thank you. I was stressing because none of the official microsoft cables listed on ebay mention a disc. So, I'm not worried because I don't need one. Thanks again.
Thanks really helpful! What would I need a license transfer for though is that for games that were downloaded on the old console?
Getting this in the mail tomorrow! upgrading from a Limited Edition MW2 Xbox 360 Elite to a new Limited Edition Halo 4 Xbox 360. Merry Christmas!
@CooperTheReviewer So basicly for example: Want to use data from an 120gb hdd on a 4gb hdd is impossable. To use 120 gb worth of data on another hdd-the new hdd will need to be at least 120gb to fit it in
@MisterMWest
I'm in the same boat I have an old elite and I'm transferring my data as well. As long as you have saved your file from the Beta( I think it is the smaller file not the 507mb file...... there shouldn't be any problem in the transfer
@Itsuperbowl if you are asking if you can use the hard drive for the slim all you need to do is take out the physical hard drive by opening it and just plug it in to your slim
THANKS ALOT THIS REALLY HELPED I JUST GOT THE HALO 4 LIMITED EDITION CONSOLE AND NEEDED TO SWICH THE DATA
If you cannot get this to work try to connect the cable in opposite way ( first connect the usb and only after that plug in the hard drive). Did work for me. I read that there are problems with old 20gb/10gb hard drives and sometimes you need to get some kind of software disc from Microsoft.
Thanks man. I have an Xbox 360 Elite. I've had it for 6 years. Today, I just got the red ring of death and need to either fix my Xbox 360 or just get a new one and transfer the data over to a new HDD. A question: How much more reliable are the newer Xbox 360s compared to the original?
8 years, lol
@TheFearedPanda it gives you a list of what you want to transfer buddy. it was said in the video too.
Can you choose what gamertags you want transferred over or does it automatically transfer all the generates on your original Xbox??
@Mikanish yes the cable can its just the usb at the end
Yes but it takes longer depending on how much data you are moving. Also, you need to format the usb on your Xbox before doing anything so that it can read the data properly.
Thanks for help the last person I watched needed a disk do do it or somthing you just made it a lot simpler
@bulletshotfromgun Yeah it does but if you want to use all dlc when your offline you will need to do a licence transfer
Thank you so much, im getting a xbox slim for Christmas and this video helped me alot!!!
thanks for the info. Glad some people do it the way it is supposed to be done. I just take the old ones apart and bring them back to life. Did the Cure for the Death ring a million times.
Thank you so much i was freaking out cuz the hard drives arent the same so i thought all hope was lost, thank you
didnt think it could be that simple, thanks alot dude:)
yay you got another xbox but
what have you done with your other xbox?
exactly what i needed to know man. i was wondering about this for when i get my GOW3 special edition box tonight :).
@TheFearedPanda You can tick and untick certain data to go over
thanks this helped alot. i just bought a 250 gb xbox 360 slim with wireless controller and cords for about 200 off amazon. once my stuff transfers and it works hopefully i made a great deal!
Merry Christmas and thank you!
Sweet thanks man, Freaken best buy had no idea what to do since my old elite turns on but no audio or video, on how to transfer all my sons stuff onto his star ward edition 360.
You're very welcome! I'm very glad I could help! (it's nice to be useful once in a while! lol)
Great video! Thanks for making it! Everything worked just like you said.
2:06 Was that "Hammerhead" by The Offspring?
@Sonic1914 Try going to system settings>memory settings and it should show up there. I think. I'm pretty sure it would.
MERRY CHRISTMAS thanks this helped alot
Thanks! :P I have been wondering a long time about getting a transfer cable and a new harddrive
can you use the HDD for storage through the transfer cable? or can it only be used to transfer data?
Thanks for the help bro I liked the video
Hi Mate Great Vid by the way... If you have installed games on the hard drive (FAT) will it transfer to to the slim ?
Thanks dude, seems easy enough. lets play some ODST or Reach!
Nicholas Brule ODST is the fucking best to bad there is no multiplayer
@@UncleTyso Isn't firefight multiplayer?
Sam S. Na like pvp multiplayer
Very helpful, the part that connects to the fat HDD had a cap over it! Would've never looked under there.
Does it transfer your music that you had on your original hard drive to the slim hard drive?
I'm not sure if you know but could I just use a normal PC transfer cable because I'm going to transfer all my memory from my Xbox 360 fat into a SSD drive?
to kind of upgraded a bit as in memory and speed
@nosamcuminhand1 Leave the new hdd in the xbox it originally came in. Take the old hdd out (the one with the data on). The data from the old hdd goes on to the new xbox. The old hdd gets pluged in to the transfer cable
@NHDavid Hey there, thanks for replying!
I haven't touched any Beta files on my xbox, I haven't deleted anything either.. so I should be okay?
Thank you man. I wasn't about to read that whole manual...
If you remember the e-mail you used, click forgot password, and you can either answer a security question if you set one up, or I think it will just send you and e-mail, text message, etc. Whatever you set up with your account, it will send a message to you to reset your password, then you can change it to something you will remember. Hope this helps!
Is it possible to transfer my 60gb hard drive to my 10gb xbox slim and keep the transfer cable on and still use my downloadable items
Thanks 4 the help. If this video was not on CZcams then I think I would of broke the transfer cable lol.
Worked fine on my Gears of War 3 console ;) Playing it now. Thanks man.
omg I didnt even know that this cable even did exist before Xbox Support said it to me at Twitter i have been like used my old broken Xbox 360 Elite for months now because i didnt want to buy xbox 360 slim because i didnt want to start all over again thank you :D
whats the differnce if i just get one of the really cheap tranfer cables as opposed to the official one
I doubt that it will be overwritten. It should have both the original 360 data and Slim's data on it. Assuming they are not under the same profile gt and settings, it should have both profiles without deleting anything. I could be wrong so you can always check the xbox website in case
if you're meaning from a slim xbox to the old xbox hard-drive, there was the option on the pop-up called "Yes, transfer from console"
@mrshadow4077 just use the cloud service. so it gets saved online and you can recover it on another console
If you get a new hard drive for the slim do you need a transfer cable for that or no beacuse I got a hard drive and I did not have one so...... Can you please reply soon beacuse I'm geting the hard drive on Friday! Thanks!
What if I don't have a Hard Drive in my xbox slim. Will the transfer cable to an old hard drive still count it as an hard drive?
No it is only a transfer cable unfortunately
@andy salazar I have the same 360 Transfer cable that I used to transfer from my 20gb to my 120gb HDD's, hopefully I can use it once again to transfer to the new slim 250gb. If it works, I will have used it twice. So for people in situations similar to mine, we can and will have multiple uses for it. And who knows, you may (one day) upgrade your HDD more than once also.
I don't have a slim can you transfer fat hard drive to fat hardrive with that same cable or is a different one required I heard a different one was required but don't know anyone personally with one?
Hello thank you for the video worked a treat got a question to ask.ive transfered data from my hard drive 120gb to my new slim console. My partners profile is on her 120gb hard drive but we want to put both on to the slim hard drive.is it possbile to do this or will it over right the 1st transfered data thank you
So I have an old arcade 360 hard drive I took out of the plastic casing to use in my skim can I still transfer the data?
2023 and this video is helping me out 😂
Do you have to recover your gamertag or is it just on the hardrive? also do you have to download all your dlc and map packs again etc...
@WayneRizZx After all the data has been transferred to the new 250gb hardrive, do you have reenter your windows live id for your xbl account when you got to sign in? Because I forgot the password an security question to change the password.
@CooperTheReviewer You mean you want to use data on your 4gb console thats from the 60gb hdd without transfering it?
Whats it mean transfer some of the licenses? If you transfer over your live profile will all the info and payment options go with it?
That helped me so much I never knew of that cord b4
Turning off the Slim and turning it back on worked for me. Thanks. Question: after transferring all of my data, will the Slim automatically have my log in info too? I totally forgot!
It's all fixed now. I had to speak with someone from Xbox and they walked me through what i needed to do. It wasn't the licencing rights, because i had already done that. But thanks for the reply ;)
You can transfer your data remotely if you have an x box live account, just sign into your new x-box with your x-box live account and go to settings there you should be able to download all your games and content.
hey, when transferring your data..does it also transfer your old gamertag? Or is it possible to make a new gamertag on the new xbox 360 slim, and load all your data on to that new gamertag? Does this make sense?
So you don't need the disc that came with the cable to transfer your content??
You can use your USB to transfer content and it can transfer up to 16GB contents
so how many gigs did you have on your hardrive that you transferred and how long did it take exactly?
Do you have to re-download everything if you do this, or does it transfer all downloaded stuff and all you have to after that is transfer the licenses and your done??
Hey man, would you suggest the new xbox slim? Ive gotta 120GB Elite (2008 model) that still works good, and Im wondering if its really worth it,
pritty sure you can plug it into your old xbox transfer by selecting move put it into the usb then plug it into your new xbox and move it into the hard drive simple
If you were to do this, would you still have your saved data (such as saved games, achievements, etc)? I would like to hear a reply
Can you do this with a computer like put a hard drive from a computer into the old 360 hard drive and dump files from your old computer to your new one?
