    I think I figured out what's happening with the adaptation. Madhouse is used to certain formats. The original light novels don't fit well within those formats. So, what they're doing is, as time goes on, they are slowly building up to the point where it's a perfect adaptation. Also, I have a sneaky suspicion that they are somehow going to work the plot of the anime spin off from the early 2000s into it as well, because that has a devoted fan base too. On the subject of the spin-off, the new adaptation seems to be halfway between the original format of the light novels and the format of the early 2000s spinoff. This is probably to draw in fans of both the original and the spin-off. Combining all these together, it will probably be a perfect adaptation by the time it's done, but they're going to have to find some way to fit a lot of conversation into the story throughout in order to make up for what they left out in the first Arc.

    I don't think it's necessary for the anime to spell out exactly what each missing flower part means, it's obviously implied that that's what he can do.

      doesn't have to give details but it would be nice to give us a general idea so when the anime shows that someone is missing their say, roots, us as a viewer can begin speculating what that means while also giving insight into the minor/major characters. right now just saying "she's missing a bud" is some useless ass information that means absolutely nothing to me.

      You kinda miss the nuance of the flowers, because what they miss is representative of the hangups of those people.

    I just happened to read up to the end of this episode before its released and ya the anime feels very light-weight compared to the novel. While watching, I keep thinking that even a few more lines or emphasis would at least help you vaguely grasp the deeper meaning. When I was watching blind, while I didn't get everything I felt there was more meaning to the events that I wasn't aware of. But now that I do know what it's annoying when they don't allude to it much.
    I think in a way this is how I felt when I saw season 2 of Durarara. I read a little ahead and was excited for a continuation but was kind of disappointed that they cut out a lot of the narration they had in the books and season 1. As a result, some of the scenes I was excited to see animated lost a lot of dramatic weight.

      I've been reading Kara no Kyoukai and this seems to be a problem for light novel adaptations in general.

    Please make sure to also mention the fucking abysmal episode titles if you decide to review the next episode. They're just book title with a number attached. It's lazy and bad and having been reading the first book lately, I could easily come up with three better titles than "Boogiepop and Others 1," "Boogiepop and Others 2," and "Boogiepop and Others 3."

    i have yet to see a light novel anime adaptation be 100% faithful to the source

    • @akileaves2669
      @akileaves2669 Před 5 lety

      we talking faithful, then maybe log horizon(though I haven't read it so im just talking out my ass). We talkin 100% adapted word by word? then of course not, things are bound to be moved around when adapting anything into another medium, only thing that matters is that the adaptation manages to be as good as or better than the source material.
      (and in my opinion, this one isn't, but we'll see...........)
