- A Maine Coon needs a lot of fur care.
Felix is now 2,5 years and he weighs 10,2 kg. (22 lb 8 oz.)
We have found that a quick daily combing is a good way to keep the fur in good shape.
Usually it is done more thoroughly than in this video.
(Felix is well trained for this. You can't do this with every cat)
He is so chill about the process.
When I brush my calico's,the purring almost rattles the windows!Such a beautiful kitty!
As a kid I was obsessed with brushing animals. Living on a farm, I was a Pro when I was five years old.
At eight I got a Maine Coone kitten. And I became a Wizard!!!!
There is nothing more soothing in this world than grooming a furry animal. Not even a buddhist monk after 50 years of meditation training can reach that level of tranquility amd happyness.
Felix you are a fab cat you look greatxx
Beautiful, and so patient
This is actual unintentional ASMR. What a big o' baby. You're so so lucky to have Felix.
He is so beautiful and gentle
Felix is soooo mellow enjoying this.
Same here, it is good to do it every day! Life is so beautiful with cats! We have 2 elder house cats and 2 Maine Coonies, a girl and a boy nearly one year old now. But the Coonies need much more fur care! Love to watch your videos, thank you for sharing!
VERY BIG BEAUTIFUL BOY - KISSES TO YOU FELIX!!
A labor of love... ... ...
Super cat!
So handsome
Our Bobo loved to get brushed and bathed.
I wore gloves and long sleeve coat when brushing or combing my cats. It was a battle!
Good baby
When I was owned by a Himalayan mix cat, I used a plastic wide tooth rake that I bought at a cat show. I combed him almost every day. He saw when I was ready to comb him and got into position for his beauty treatment so I assume he really enjoyed the process. A Norwegian Forest cat breeder told me that is what they used on their cats. Every cat is different, but starting early with combing probably helps. Felix is a beautiful and sweet kitty. Value his company and trust. Best regards.
Owned lol my cats own me too. This cat looks like my main coon
But oh my the shedding !!
Красавчик!
Ok,now its time for curlers!HAHAHA!I can imagine him being in an old Japanese godzilla
movie...Its MOTHRA!!~!! To the rescue!!!HAWWWW!He is so Beautiful!!!
😻😽😽
A long haired cat is a big committment. Probably about 1/2 hour every day for grooming, if you don't want the cat to get painfully matted fur. I love how long hairs look, so beautiful, but I prefer short hairs because I 'm not so good with grooming cats.
Most people are not committed to care for a pet. They just see something they want and buy it, without further thoughts and empathy.
すごくゴージャス❤️
どうもありがとうございました
I’m thinking about getting a Maine Coon. It’s good to see an example of a fur care routine.
Felix seems like a really awesome cat. Can I ask how old is he? Do you train with him a lot?
Felix is 2,5 years. Now, we don't do muchntraing these days. But the brushing/combing is almost every day
I have one half mainecoon and one 5months full and they need grooming everyday and then once a week I do a proper brush and the half mainecoon she's just over one and has never been matted but the 5month old he gets little mats behind his ears which is easy to take out as I groom them everyday.
Adopt don't shop.
@@MaineCoonFelix No he's not he's 5.5 years old
@@jjr1728 that comment was 3 years ago lol
His fur is very oily. Is this common with the breed?
Hi Maverick. I don't know. It varies with season.
Yeah my mainecoon can look a little oily but i swear he is water resistant, he sity out in the snow and rain, plays in the tub and is never bothered.
@@theworldneedsmorehippies Yeah that double coat really beads off the water... when I bathe my guy it takes for ever to get a good lather going on him, seriously like 8-10 minutes of me dumping water on him with a cup while he stands in the bath. I wish I could just stick him in there but he hates getting his head wet lol.
have you ever tried the pet teezer?
No, maybe we should.
Oh boy... what a patient handsome cat you are... he is well trained to the best... but he not enjoying this ritual... the tail say: ok, but hopefully this ends soon... 🐈💖
My Tom is a former stray and I brush him 3 times a week. He likes it on the back and head and tail... the legs and his belly are tabu. He is a former stray and scratches me badly... if I don't stop it
So for me it's bed time and I hope he will dream of you... Felix you handsome fluffy boy 💖 oh Felix just a question... get you the nails cuted off?
Hi Tina. Nice to hear from you again. 😍 You're right. He is not to happy with this, but he accept it. He is waiting for the treats he gets when we are finished.
Yes, we do trim his claws. You can see that in this video: czcams.com/video/vERtZTgzPg8/video.html
Mines only part. But looks exactly like this. He's (floki) is too skittish to hold still!
Watching this, I thought maybe we should start breeding short hair or medium hair Maine Coons. I love their chillness and size but grooming is a lot of work.
Yes, its a lot of work. But that is just nice.
Beautiful..
Wts d cost of this breed..
Can it be reared in india??
Hi Amrutha. We don't know anything about breeding or costs in India😸
Some cats see a brush as an enemy, as do some children, I didn't like my Grandma trying to brush the knots out of my hair
Gorgeous Cat..
My cat will eat me alive if i brush him
I have a polydactyl Maine Coon who is 2.5 years old and 17 pounds, I need to start grooming him, does it always take two people to groom a Maine Coon? Felix is very calm and I don't think Albert E. will take it that well.
Hi Nancy
No, it does not always take two to groom a Maine Coon. We don't have a table for him to stand on, therefore we have him on our lap. It is also an advantage that you can hold him, so he does not walk away.
I'm afraid you'll have a problem if you have not started grooming your cat until now. You have to get him used to this carefully, little by little. Make sure it does not develop into a fight.
@@MaineCoonFelix Several times I have used a brush on him in passing and he doesn't mind it, he sort of drops to the floor and roll to his back and he lets me brush his tummy. I need to make the effort to get down on the floor and just do it. :)
@@nancyhammons3594 Ok. that's good. Do it in a way that suits you. :-)
My Maine Coon slept in my bed. I always groomed her before we went to sleep.
I groomed her from the first day we adopted her.
@@CordeliaWagner did she shed a lot?
I think he needs a bath
Yes, you're right. He needs a bath now and then. 2-4 times a year.
