My brother bought a 3 months old kitten a few years ago, not knowing exactly what breed it is, then in only two years it grew bigger than most cats that I've ever seen and continued to grow, we were amazed to find out it was actually a Siberian!!

I lived with a serval for almost fourteen wonderful years. He was the smartest, most loving animal I ever met. He helped me raise all sorts of foster bottle babies and had a coatimundi as a best friend. But his favorites were a rescue litter of what turned out to be mostly Maine Coons. They were bottle babies but after dinner, they would all pretend to nurse on him as he purred and washed them. He was wildly affectionate and loved to hug my head and lick my hair.

Ragdoll are strictly indoor cat. It has been crossbreed, and its personality and instincts are very docile.
It is too naive, and do not have proper REAL instincts to hunt and be alert like needed in the wild.
So if a ragdoll is let loose into the wild, it will almost guaranteed to be a deathsentence.
Just for information to those who do not know to much about ragdolls.
Some breeds are for strictly indoir only.
At most, can take them out on a leash. But even then need to understand tgat they lack real alertness and are too naive to be selfprotective against dangers.

Just like ocelots, they are best enjoyed in zoos, animal sanctuaries, preservations, and online. My cat is basically a miniature tiger, who talks to me fairly often, including when I am singing. Snuggling with me is his favorite past time. He just turned sixteen.

Norwegian forrest cats are nice and friendly, but they do mirror the society they live in.
So if you live in a society where humans are not nice enough to cats, then they will pick up in that.
(Takes several generations of niceness before cat society change opinions about humans. Attitude is past on through their mothers/parents).
Norwegian forrest cats have their hunting and fighting instincts alive.
So they CAN be mean if they feel mistreated etc.
They will usually be loving towards their owner. But can be cautious against others (if live in a bad society).
And i would be carefull about todler and very young children.
Most cats would be somewhat forgiving to small children, because they understand it is the owners small children.
But it is limit to level of patient they will have to being pulled by the tail etc.
So friendly. Especially if in loving families.
And even more lovely if in a society which cares about cats.
But they can fight, and they can hunt. So they can be hard if they first snap.
So obviously teavh the kids to not pull the cat tail etc.
And let tge cat know/see that you stop the child if it tries to do such to the cat. (So the cat understand that you have control of the situations).
And try to interact with both at same time. So they get good associations with eachother.

Very interesting, thank you for this presentation. The largest cat I'd ever go with as a pet would be either a Cougar or a Leopard and certainly anything smaller. But as all cat lovers know, it's the individual demeanor and personality that makes for a great pet. One could have a Leopard or Cougar which is very friendly, loves to lay in your lap and is non-aggressive and then one can have a house cat that will eat you up for just trying to pick it up. With cats, it's all about the individual personality which takes time and patience on our part to discern. I've seen (and had) house cats which would slice you like a tomato just for trying to give him/her a bath and then I see people with their pet Cougar giving him a bath as he just sits there patiently.

I used to have a Ragdoll about 5 years ago, his name was Pooky, he had big blue eyes and looked like a white tiger, he was huge, and at once weighed 25 pounds, I had him for 12 years, but he suffered from seizures!
Mostly because my landlord where I was living at the time used a cheap pest control company and though my roommate with her cat and I with Pooky, left the house for 10 hours, which was a bit longer then they said we had to be out of the house, the moment we got back my Pooky started having a seizure while still in his pet carrier!
SO from then on up until his death, he would have seizures, which in the end was what killed him! I still miss him everyday too, he was my best friend and my baby all in one! And he never knew a stranger too, he was so outgoing and affectionate, that anyone could pick him up and hold him, as long as you weren't hurting him, he didn't care, and he loved to get his belly rubbed, and NEVER scratched or bite you while your doing it either, he would often lay stretched out on the floor on his back just waiting for someone to rub his tummy, but would also fall asleep like that, lol!

What they don’t tell you is that so many domestic cats get killed in the cross breeding process and that these hybrid cats don’t make the best family pets and require a lot of space & play to expel their energy. It infuriates me when people choose to buy them regardless just because of their appearance, because they don’t care about all felines.
