    Allot of people get scammed and buy regular piglets and then wont admit their mistake trying to claim that smaller breeds don't exist. This is a proper miniature pig and i'm overjoyed it looks in good shape and isn't overfed.
    Drew A, you have my respect and thanks for treating Hamlet right!

      @@jesusistheonlysavior1642 He's actually about 150 these days. Considered a small Juliana pig as we have learned from the CSU vet hospital. I think people just need to adjust their standards of a mini pig because a healthy small pig can weigh up to 250lb... Hamlet is now 5.5 years old and done growing but he is a little chubby, we are giving him less pig feed and more vegetables to keep him healthy but bring is weight down a bit. Funny enough the vet said they're inner workings are some of the closest to humans so to keep their weight down you have to fill them up but not with high calorie foods since they don't get any exercise.

      Thank you Dan. We try to keep him healthy. Tbh he's grown since this video, he's about 5.5 years old weighing in at 150lbs which seems like a big animal but he is really no bigger than full size bull dog (maybe a little longer). He is just really dense. We've been cutting his diet to half of the pig feed and a lot of vegetables to keep him healthy but also get him to lose some weight. He had a "spa" day at the CSU vet clinic and they were great, recommending all sorts of ways to keep his weight down and keep him healthy.

      Dan Lindberg it’s just a kunekune, miniature breeds don’t really exist, Juliana and teacup and all that really are scams. Kunekune is the smallest type of pig and it’s just naturally this size. Rare examples of smaller than usual pigs do happen occasionally but they’re not a breed, just a fluke.

      Obviously there's no pig breed that keeps being a piglet forever. Pigs aren't Axolotl. But this is far far smaller than a regular housepig und smaller than pot-bellies and Kune Kunes. Cute little bugger.

      Keep in mind even being 150 just have the mindset of a big dog, I still would like to get a mini pig they are still manageable and capable to be indoor and out door … I guess people make unrealistic expectations on it being the size of a baby it whole life and which I’ve never seen an adult pig as small as how it was little, in comparison to regular pink pigs that are unfortunately slaughtered every day these breeds are definitely still considered mini because the pink breeded pigs can weigh double

    Our Lola Renae (AKA Piggly Wiggly) is 1 year old on Feb 22 2018. She weighs 50 lbs now. Happy with her as she is basically one of the dogs. She has been in the 45 to 50 lbs for several months now and homely she stay that way. Where does she poop and pee? In the back yard, duh. She has a cow bell mounted at bottom of patio door she rings when she wants to come in or go outside. She knows how to use it better than the dogs. She does have a very nice heated pig house with covered porch she loves to stay in when not in house. Even at 20 degrees the house stays between 55 and 60 inside so during the day she likes being outside and at night she sleeps by our fire place till we go to bed then she has a dog bed beside our bed. She can cover herself up pretty nicely with her pun blanket but likes to have help sometimes.

      Very nice. Hamlet likes laying by the fireplace as well. He is very clean and always goes to the bathroom outside. He's 5 years old now and weighed about 118 at his last vet appointment before he decided he was done with the scale, haha.

    This is the smallest grown up mini/teacup pig I've ever seen. At 2 years old, a pig is considered what? An adolescent...or an adult?! Is it going to grow more? Just out of curiosity. They are so cute, but not the ideal pet for me since I live in a very small appartement.

    • @DrewAbarca
      @DrewAbarca  Před 6 lety +13

      He is a bit bigger now than he is in this video. At 2 years old he is still considered an adolescent, maybe an adult at 5-6 years. They typically grow until they are about 5 years old, he is roughly 40 inches long and about 17 inches tall, 120lbs. He isn't huge but he definitely grew a bit. He's now almost 5 years old and has stopped growing, all that's left is for him to get fat if we feed him too much. They don't need a ton of indoor space but they do need to be kept busy or they get bored because of their level of intelligence and start misbehaving.

    He's not the same Hamlet minipig who over the past 12 or more years has seen 2 human sisters born to his loving family. He was purchased from Texas Tiny Pigs and is not much larger than the above piggy, with whom he shares a remarkable resemblance (Juliana potbelly variety with the same markings).

  • @juliegogola4647

    Okay Hamlet here at 2 years old isn't so huge that someone buying a pig that is the same type as Hamlet, would have a right to claim that he (or the pig like him) is much too huge to care for. I think that he is surely within the size that they should expect their pig to be.

    I'm debating on getting one of these so called t-cup pigs. From what I have read, it's kinda like having a dog. Are you able to give me any insight on having one as a pet? Anything that I should be aware of? Are they normally quiet during the day/night?
    Thanks, any information would be greatly appreciated. The piglet that I have the apportunity to get is about a week old.

    • @DrewAbarca
      @DrewAbarca  Před 9 lety +5

      +BERTO929 They are actually really good pets. I would definitely make sure you do your research on the seller and maybe see if anyone else has bought one from them, mostly because you don't want a 300lb pig after 5 years. They are great animals though, very quiet at night and during the day. They mostly just grunt and only really squeal or whine when they want in the house or you are lifting them up. They can be potty trained really easily to go in a litter box type of area, if you do it when they are young they will very rarely have an accident in the house. They are super smart and will get into everything and eat everything, as soon as they figure out a way into something they will go back and keep trying. Just have to be diligent about cleaning up and keeping things out of their reach. I could go on and on about stuff but here is a website that has a lot of good info you can use. Feel free to ask any specific questions too, I can answer them here if you do. Here is the site: www.pigs4ever.com/index.php

    Where did hamlet come from? How tall & how much does he weigh now that he’s 6?

    • @DrewAbarca
      @DrewAbarca  Před 5 lety +1

      Hamlet came from Pampered Piglets in Utah. He is about 16 inches tall and weighs just over 150lbs now. Not terribly large when you consider how big pigs can get. Honestly, the website for this place says their mini pigs are between 10-40 pounds which is true for the first year or two but they rarely stay that small. Hamlet is a healthy small Juliana pig and he's still way bigger than what they advertise on the website so buyer be ware. He is a very good pet though, super easy to take care of, cleaner than our dogs, potty trained way faster than any dog I've ever owned. Way smart, we had to put baby locks on our kitchen drawers and refrigerator when he figured out how to open everything.
