@@goatlpsNo, spectators do not have a very close view of the lie since in most venues they are outside the ropes. Is it any wonder that he improved his lie far away from the ropes in a bunker framed with thick brush?
Moreover, his college coaches and team mates' hinting at his lack of integrity ( well before the most recent incident ) is NOT the norm for others. Most players are not accused on a consistent basis like that pillsbury doughboy, reed.
Additionally , tour players , tv commentators, and finally, the camera have picked up on his cheating and pathetic blatant lies ( forgive the pun) at justification.
He has won a few times on tour, but one who has been tagged a cheater at every level by coaches, teammates, tour players, tv analysts and commentators . When multiple independent sources point to the same cheater, it is preponderance of evidence, and when the camera picks it up, it is an open and shut case. Interesting that Brooks said he’s seen some things and held his tongue and it happens more often than we think. Now think about Tiger, who’s had practically every one of his shots televised over his entire career , even when he’s been well out of contention and there’s been, what, 1 instance when his ball moved a centimeter and he didn’t call a penalty on himself, plus every time he plays there are thousands of people watching him. If John Doe is playing 6 groups ahead of him, not one of his shots will make it onto tv and he might have about 5 people watching him. If John wants to cheat, he could and most likely nobody would ever know.

There are plenty of people who play the game without knowing or caring about the rules.
Also even if you see someone do something it's really tough to go and confront the person about it. Any form of confrontation really messes with your adrenaline and heart rate and makes it impossible for you to play well afterwards. Cheaters tend to be used to that and even thrive on it. At least Keopka called him out. The problem won't disappear until other players call him out, and commentators. They do a great job at skirting around the issue. As for Reeds caddie. Really don't know how he lives with himself. No matter how much I would earn from him I just couldn't caddie for a cheat. He should be investicated for being complicit in the cheating.

It makes a huge difference when you flake back the sand from the back of your ball so your club makes cleaner contact..and in golf, that's cheating, that's improving your lie, and he's done it before. I can't wait for the day Reed tries the "it was the camera angle, people are just watching me" crap on the wrong player and they just knock him out...on live tv....while in a match. Koepka might be the one to do it. Now that I would pay to see! Koepka to Reed on live tv, "You're just a cheating sack of S***."

The rule should be changed, as it is not working. The bounce aspect should be deleted, as if the ball gets imbedded after bouncing it means that the ground is too soft, so that relieve is justified. For example, the ball can land on a rock and bounce high and gets imbedded after landing from the high bounce, if the ground is very soft from excess water after heavy rains, so that too-soft ground is the cause. This is like when the ball can bounce and roll into casual water, and get relieve when the causal water rule is in effect due to heavy rains and flooding. The rule should also be changed to require fellow players and/or referees to witness and verify that the ball is imbedded before the ball is touched (for competitive play) which is the common practice.
