Okada's dropkick is one of the few breathtaking (not a Dear God did he kill him like 15% of the NJPW moves are) moves I've ever seen in my near 40 years of watching wrestling. I think he could even ruin the move like the Young Bucks have with the superkick by doing 5 times in a match, and it would still be amazing to watch. I just hope his knees don't go on him that he stops doing it. Pre-WWF Koko was a sight to behold, but he ended up on the JYD meal plan with both of them being the shell of what they had been pre-WWF. It was such a shame.

The Bucks over do all of their moves, they don't sell and their moves mean nothing. Even the Meltzer driver looks so fake. Kenny Omega kidnapped Nakamura's high knees and does them about 10 times a match now. It doesn't shock me that those guys are friends.

I remember WK9 when Jim Ross hyped up the Okada dropkick in the beginning of the match, it immediately caught my interest. Then when he busted it out towards the end JR sold it as if it were a legit finish to the match (and I believed it for a momemt).

in 1987 I saw a schoolmate try to use a standing dropkick in a real fight, in the middle of the street.( we were in elementary school at the time) That kid hit the pavement face first, knocked himself out, lost a fight he was winning. I had to help him home after that ,and I just remember saying, "Ya I didn't see that coming either."

“Pistol” Pez Whatley & Brady Boone had the 2 best dropkicks I’ve seen, especially in their eras..

Waaaay back in the day, Sweet Brown Sugar had some of the nicest dropkicks, I mean like coming off of a tag over the top rope he would drop kick his opponent
jumping to the middle turnbuckle and smoothly missling to his opponent.

Probably no one else will mention Tony Charles. CWF did a video segment some time around 1974 narrated by Coach John Heath which highlighted his dropkicks in slow motion to show how devastating they looked. Dunno if that footage was kept or if WWE has it in their possession.

I was about to say Tony Charles. Most around here are too young to remember him. I saw him on tv a few times in the 70s. Could be the best ever.

Okada's dropkick at Wrestle Kingdom 8 vs Tanahashi was unreal. That move is 1000z more over (done by him) than these stupid doves, super kicks that get done 100 times a show

  • @daveconleyportfolio5192

You could believe a Doug Furnas dropkick as a finisher. He probably had to flip over to avoid putting his feet through someone's chest, like that stomach hole punch in "Kung Pow."

Jim Ross once said that one of Brian's idols was "Flying" Fred Curry- a great drop-kicker in his own right, in his era. I'd say that's why he worked hard to perfect it.
