Making a compromise with Russia is like saying to a rapist, "But only 5 minutes!" You think he is going to say, "I respect your boundaries"?

Only 5 minutes?that's ur argument?ahahahhaa so ur solution and choice is to challenge the rapist to rape u not a second time but another 50 times so u can struggle and squeal in pleasure pain delight until hopefully some superior force like the police or a higher entity comes to ur rescue u keep throwing urself and ur body into forced copulation with ur rapist?omg what kind of sick twisted American roleplay porn hentai this is?I want to download it off Netflix immediately!!!!!
So where does it end?tell me.....
1 year or 420 something odd days ago, back in march 2021 when less than 5000 ukranians and Russians were dead, when Ukraine was still 97 percent intact and functional and untouched.
Instead of standing there thinking logically like a humanist a sane man a humanist a pacifist.....and consider maybe the lives of 30 million Ukrainians and the fate and destiny of the country.....maybe let's try to sue for peace and figure out an alternative way to fight back while protecting whatever fragile existence we have, whatever we've got here, our homes, our communities, our businesses, companies our livelihood our economy our towns and cities and most importantly the lives of our people.....
Instead he decided.....no I will sacrifice it all and let it all burn!!!!!!!!!

the thing is that the rape has already been going on for a while. The deal is about stopping it now, or after he kills your mother and child too.
I have no clue what choice to make there... I suppose it's a bad analogy, it's about survival - not trauma. That station has been passed...
More like a dude is holding hostages and he wants money. You only give it to him as a last resort. Sort of reminds me of how Russia handled the Chechens at the moscow theatre... Didn't have much of an effect on the Chechen war... The solution isn't a solution, but a lesser evil at best. Russia chose brute force there in the theatre, too... about 1/8 of the hostages died.
Stopping the rape won't make the trauma fade, but it might safe your brother. I'd be too angry as well, I suppose... It's a diabolical dilemma...

And his comparison with the moment that the ancient Greeks united (more or less) for the first time in their history and stood up to the invading Persian empire is the perfect analogy. Everyone said that war was hopeless too. Even the Greeks believed they were going to their own inevitable deaths. Yet they WON on land and sea.
One soldier defending his home is worth 20 disinterested invaders on the battlefield. Local knowledge, greater expertise, superior discipline and so on, and so on, all count for a great deal. But, the willingness to sacrifice and die for your homeland makes you into a lion in warfare.

Seeing Monsieur Levy brings back memories of my 30 years living in Europe, primarily Paris. His English skills have certainly advanced because early in his career he needed an English translator. Levy, Philippe Sollers and a bevy of important feminist philosophers were dubbed the The New Philosophers by the French press. Unlike in the USA French high schools (called Lycee) have in their last year a course in philosophy. This makes a big difference in the sophistication of the French electorate, esp. as with Levy their stress on social/political activism. In the USA studying philosophy seriously usually means a professional academic career. If I remember correctly Levy traveled in the USA and made a film about it, emphasizing the role of the philosophe de Tocqueville in the French enlightenment and the makers of the American revolution.

Since the days of Ronald Reagan there has been an open acknowledgement within the Republican Party that well educated people do not vote Republican. Since then they have actively worked to suppress higher education. That philosophy even appears in relatively well known speeches. And it can certainly be found on record as a core principle within, “most,” (if not, “all”) Republican ideology. They have had a frighteningly sinister agenda ever since the late 70’s, early 80’s, and the evidence of the, “fruit,” their planning bore is plain to see. If you don’t believe me (and who could blame you for doubting such a diabolical ideology?) look it up. I’d bet it will be easy to find if you put the right words into your search engine? But, once you lift the lid, you’ll find a can of worms bigger than you imagined possible, and it may well ruin your sleep for a while? Be warned. I’m not joking around here.

Not sure if teenagers and philosophy make for a sophisticated electorate but the French seem to be proud of it. A bit too abstract. Courses in civics/government and debate are more effective.
The Enlightenment took place during the 17th and 18th century. De Tocqueville lived during the 19th century. His trip to the US was financed by the French government to study/observe American democracy. He had no influence on the "makers?" of the American Revolution, which took place before his time.

The easiest way for evil to succeed is for good people to do nothing. This needs to be better known for those countries that SAY they are neutral, like Switzerland in the past who remained a haven for Nazis. You do nothing, then you are on the side of the evil. If you hesitate giving help, you are on the side of the evil. If you hold back what they need according to what THEY need, you are helping the evil. If you turn away a request for something by saying no you do not need that, you are on the side of evil. If you fail to restrict the normal transactions of countries that are helping the evil, then you are helping the evil. In World War II, the USA flooded the Soviets with material and ammunition. Where is that flow to Ukraine? I see videos of the Soviets pulling out older equipment and some of those trucks you see are the ones that were sent to them by the USA. The World says it wants Ukraine to win, but holds back the help they need. Hypocrites.

I wonder if Fareed will back track at some point and understand his views are not deep enough to be intellectually consistent. So, this interview is a good starting point for both him and BHL to think deep. This is perhaps BHL's key moment to be concise and be on the right side of history, as Ukrainians are indeed fighting a war against (fascist/imperialist) Putin. Removing the re-emergence of fascism in Europe is crucial--it is the far right in Germany and France that Putin has played to, along with the far right in the US. BHL should go after the Vichy period in France to show what has been downplayed... at least in terms of public knowledge today for what France is capable of. BHL does not go into that in detail, it is implied. That said, BHL is not deep enough to see issues with his own views: he made errors in supporting French and British oil interests in Libya, thus removing a Third World leader who resisted Europe's colonial/fascist project. One may criticize Ghadaffi and hold him accountable, however, to destroy Libya with a war of aggression means French, British and US leaders also need to face tribunals. Having invaded Libya, the West is now busy siphoning its oil away without public's scrutiny... how ironic that BHL thinks he is for liberation, and how absurd that Fareed, born in a colonial space, did not even bring up the destruction in Libya, while focused on the destruction of Ukraine.

The position of France is honorable and the rest of the free world should stand in unity behind exactly this position as that is the only just position the only position that will bring justice for Ukraine and peace back to Europe.
There is no compromise to be had with such evil.

FYI : in France, nobody take what Bernard Henri Levi says seriously since at least 3 decades. He stopped being a philosopher a very long time ago, and the only film he made was so ridiculous that it made about a 1000 entries in the all country.
The man is full of himself and has only one agenda : making money. It is well known that he received bribes from Qatar and was heavily involved in the French intervention in Libya for his own benefit.
There’s a rather long list of those so-called « French philosophers » who keep intervening in the media, they have nothing interesting to say, and appear only to sell books that nobody is reading any longer.
DONT LISTEN TO THEM…. DOESNT WORTH THE TIME!
