Fareed nailed it there when he said that generally speaking, people have a lot of sympathy for the citizens of both Israel and Palestine, but not for the leadership. It is the actions of the government and the institutions that are often the cause of the people's woes.

I get your point & sympathize to an extent, but I’d add that this kind of tepid expression of regret for the loss of innocent life on both sides tends to be a way of eliding hard truths about Israel’s military occupation & the history of European colonialism. Focusing on failed political leadership reinforces the illusion that this is a war between opposing nation-states. It’s a conflict between colonizer & colonized, oppressor & oppressed.
Saying or implying otherwise contributes, perhaps inadvertently, to the intractability of the violence. What’s needed now is moral clarity. Idle thoughts & prayers are unhelpful insofar as these short-circuit serious personal reflection & inquiry into the facts & history.
I speak from experience. After supporting Bush in 2000 when I was 18, I have spent many hours trying to educate younger people about how US media frames conflicts in ways that neutralize what is still the most powerful force on earth: Western public opinion when it pierces through the bubble & says “enough of these lies, this ends now.”
No need to respond. Thx for considering another perspective from someone who otherwise shares your sentiments.

Bourgeois capitalist empire. As Friedrich Hayek said the nation state is pure evil. We need to get rid of politicians and have direct democracy. Politicians tend to be evil men or women. With direct democracy and AI automation of administration we don’t need politicians. Politicians create drama so they can seize more power by responding to crises. That’s why false flag operations have existed even since time of Plato. Plato and Aristotle wrote about them
Also note that emperor Valerian destroyed judea because it had troublemakers. Criminal behavior is criminal behavior does not matter the ethnicity or claimed being a descendant of a person no one can prove ever existed thousands of years ago
      It’s pathetic
People don’t want to be individuals and live individual lives and take individual responsibility

That's why people should vote and vote wisely because it's who we put in power that influences our lives directly and indirectly. America is about to have an election. I really hope they vote wisely or it'll be the end of the world as we know it. Heaven forbid.

There were hardly any show of dramatic emotions, yet much was expressed. 31:47: on 2024 US elections: “the most powerful person on earth will be elected by the vote of 50,000 to 100,000 people” referring to the electoral votes of the rural parts of the states like Georgia, Wisconsin, etc…… This should really petrify the entire population in this country and the rest of the world. As someone who has lived in those countries although generally impressive, not everything Zakaria says is gospel. I've found that in other interviews of his as well. One big omission in this interview is how much undercurrent of dissatisfaction there is with Crown Prince Salman from the people of Saudi as well as the religious groups. Continued royal governance in Saudi is not a certainty and if recognition of Israel occurs, it will give impetus to remove the Saudi monarchy and reversing Israeli recognition by a caliphate or whatever is the replacement.

I am a Pakistani American Millennial [naturalized citizen] who has grown up watching Fareed Zakaria and CNN. I greatly appreciate his nuanced perspective.
Amidst the ongoing crisis in Israel, my heart truly goes out to the victims affected by Hamas militants.
This is a remarkable video that discusses the issue of 'angry young men.' It's also one of the very few videos that touches upon the haunting reality of internally displaced children. I sincerely hope that we can all come together, setting aside our differences in terms of nationality, culture, and religion, to contemplate the future of our planet and, more importantly, the well-being of all children.
Online sources indicate that a substantial 41% of internally displaced populations IDPs are children. This equates to nearly 25 million young lives burdened with the effects of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).
It is indeed heartening to learn that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is finally taking steps towards granting women more freedom, and hopefully, this will serve as an inspiring model for a more progressive interpretation of Islam across the globe. Women's education and empowerment are closely linked to reducing the prevalence of militancy in the world IMHO.

Fareed Zakaria: “Israelis have been trying to do this extraordinary move which is to completely marginalize the Palestinians... Netanyahu really pushing forward to try to make a deal with Saudi Arabia which would really marginalize the Palestinians... He has a very extreme right-wing coalition... He has people in that coalition who basically don't believe there should be any kind of Palestinian State at all...
They want a greater Israel as they call it from the Jordan river to the sea and that means no West Bank no Gaza... I don't know what they plan to do with the 5 million Palestinians on those lands... the Netanyahu government has been very hardline mostly in the West Bank you know, shootings, arrests, killings, thousand of Palestinians prisoners... so you know you gotten to the point where Israeli-Palestinian relations were terrible... the Palestinians are looking and seeing they're being marginalized... the government in Israel had focused almost single-mindedly on three issues:
      1. Overturning judicial Independence...
      2. Normalizing relations with Saudi Arabia...
      3. Creating de facto annexations on the ground in the West Bank to make a Palestinian State more and more unviable...”
It is astounding to hear Fareed's bias during the rest of this interview, considering his previous fact-based conclusions.
What did Fareed expect of the Palestinian leadership, considering his fact-based conclusions?
How can Fareed talk of the “barbaric Palestinian leadership” - without - equally concluding the “barbaric Israeli leadership”, especially after having concluded that Israel has a very extreme right-wing coalition, who don't believe there should be any kind of Palestinian State at all, who want a greater Israel, who have been very hardline in the West Bank, shootings, arrests, killings, thousand of Palestinians prisoners, Palestinians being marginalized, and the de facto annexations on the ground in the West Bank to make a Palestinian State more and more unviable?

He has the “ sympathy “ for the Palestinian people but not for leadership - such utterance is indeed very opportunistic. I stand in full solidarity with Palestinian struggle as the whole. Free Palestine 🇵🇸

I am a Chinese. I have been studying English, studying English humor and Western culture for many years. I have watched a lot about religions and Palestinian-Israeli conflict. Everyone has their own attitude. The problem seems unsolvable. So sad.
I hope people of different cultures can communicate with each other and achieve world peace. Naive? but sincere.
I’ve made a video about the comparison between Chinese and English and many videos teaching Chinese in graphic and funny ways.
I want to contribute to better communication between people from different cultural backgrounds.

Everyone talks about peace among everyone all the time, what you don't understand is that Hamas is a terrorist organization that is here to murder Jews, you will see it in the horrible range, thousands of innocent civilians murdered, babies kidnapped, rape of women, kidnapping of citizens to Gaza, abuse, killing of parents in front of their children, these are things that remind The Holocaust or ISIS

How the west created fake history from Superstitions, and fairy tales. According to archeology the claimed history of Israel never existed, there was no David nor Solomon nor a kingdom called Israel in the past. There is no one lived in the stomach of a whale nor parted the red sea with his stick for Israel to cross to Palestine. Only people with little IQ or none will believe such stories, the real fact is, Palestine was inhibited by the Canaanite Arabs and Egyptians when other Arab tribes, the Assyrians and Akkadian invaded Egypt and took prisoners from Palestine and Egypt enslaving them for many years 900bc-525bc until they were freed by Persians in 525bc, during their capture they had many exaggerated and fictional stories written which was the base of a Jewish religion that was forced on the rest of the Arab land for a short period of time when the Greeks invaded The area.

You know when Michael Jackson was alive he almost achieved peace between all people.. but it’s the politicians & governments that want to keep fighting for self serving agendas & vested interests and innocent people have to suffer. If you see how much lies & propaganda are spread in the Israel Hamas war even by established outlets & repeated by Presidents, one can understand how Michael Jackson was a victim of systemic persecution and false propaganda. He was very very powerful & influential.. the best speech he made for today’s situation is the one he made at Exeter football club.

It is going to take many more generations before we are living in a post-military world. But your hope for something like that is shared I believe by billions of people, but we also tell stories to our children that teach them all the history of hatred for this group and that, not as a lesson of what not to do, but as a core of their identity, and so until we learn to tell a different set of stories to our children, we will continue to fail in delivering for them a peaceful world to live in.

He understands the the power of media and how to communicate to an audience. The interviewer is brilliant, knowledgeable and measured.
