Clementine, now a fierce and capable survivor, has reached the final chapter in her journey. Kent Mudle also said the barn scene happened about 10-15 minutes after Clem gets bit - you can see the sun rising when Clem and AJ walk into the forest. So Clem wasn't bitten nearly as long as Lee was and she probably was pale due to the blood loss and exhaustion of her axe wound.
I also thought this when I first read how clem survived on reddit

She's not just pale, she also gets a purple color around her eyes and is unable to get up. All of that just because of an axe wound, despite the fact that like 6 years ago she was totally fine with a forearm opened up in season 2? The way she was depicted in the barn was clearly meant to be a Lee equivalent at the garage. I'm happy Clem is alive, but a matter of fact is, she was realistically unable to survive what she survived.

I think her skin was pale was because she lost a lot of blood from when Minnie nearly split her whole leg open. And when we see the bite, it didn’t look like it went deep enough to start the infection.
The zombie actually bit the leather boot. The skin was not bitten.

Bruh i love clem so much. I couldn't handle loosing her. Lee was amazing, but we were with clem for 4 seasons. I didn't cry, it just hurt. I never felt such emotional connection with a video game character before. Clementine is my favorite video game character and will always be. I miss her alot. I miss her and lee together.

Plot twist Clem was brought to heaven by Lee where she was greet by everyone she lost and AJ is so traumatized that he lost Clem that he sees her as if she was really there and in Season Five (Yup it looks like their making a fifth one) she guides you and in the finally will end where the comics ended and in a similar fashion by AJ having a kids and their names are Lee, Clementine, and Kenny/Jane/Alvin the 3rd.
Lee passed out in S1 and Clem managed to drag his 180lbs into that store fending off numerous walkers

And Walker's were all around them. Kenny died a shitty, undeserved death, yes. But in doing so, he saved Clem and AJ.

I think her leg being split open is what saved her. She was losing a ton of blood, so she probably lost most of the infected blood as well and it ultimately delayed the spreading of the virus.
She survived because Lee used his badass power to save her

There was no winning bc they had nothing to stop him from bleeding out and he over did it by looking for Clem and not resting. Clem got to rest and get her wound to stop from bleeding out. 😭

For those who are still confused why that worked on Clem but not on Lee, because Lee was bitten from his wrist while Clem was bitten from her lower leg.
Lee was bitten from his wrist which severely connects to the veins up your spinal cord, which is a quick way to your brain. You can only turn into a full walker once the virus throughly spread into your brain. Lee's bite was definitely ontop of his vitals which made it a faster way for the virus to spread, adding up on how long before his arm was sawed off.
For Clem's case, she was bitten on the lower part of her leg. Even though the leg has the most vitals and veins part of our body, the leg bone and vitals connects to your hip bone first, not the spinal cord.
So, the virus didn't reach up to her spinal cord and affect her brain. Yeah she was paling and her skin was turning into a faint color of a walker so if AJ hadn't done that right at that moment, it mightve reached her severe vital up to the cord, good grief.

But there's no virus in the first place, everyone has the virus inside of them and when they die it immediately revives them and turn them into muertos (the concept of the virus wasn't fully explained in the game but was explained in the tv series and in the comics but it was also demonstrated after brody die of her injuries and later turning into a walker). So i guess clem's survival isn't because the virus didn't reached her spinal cord, but rather her earlier leg wound flushed out the blood that could probably create an infection thus not turning clem into a walker. Good theory still

@@WaltWill3 Lee gets bit in the day and chops arm in the evening. Also the arm is closer to the heart, the leg is further. So Clem has more time to prevent the infection, simple. Also her leg was bleeding heavily, so most likely the infection would be slowed down because of the blood loss.

My brother made a theory that the longer you live in the apocalypse the more your body starts adapting to the disease that explains when minnie got bit she didn’t die she kept on living eventually they’ll (who ever keeps surviving) be able to over come the disease if not then the next generation the reason clem was gray was because she was losing blood even if she didn’t get bit she would have still died because there was walker blood on the axe but yeah of course the cut the leg off so luckily she made it

Why do you think Hershel survived his bite in the show? Because they cut his leg off not 2 minutes after he was bit.

Even if he did the school was miles back and the blood would attract more walkers... I'm thankful she lived, I just don't know how she did

Since it's from one of the higher ups, I don't see how this couldn't be canon. AJ listening and watching is basically his whole thing. So knowing how to cauterize a wound and wrapping it up by having watched other people doing it in the past is very believable. Clem becoming pale, I assume, was from the amount of blood she was losing from the leg. The leg wound would also be slowing down the poisoned blood from infecting her, again, because she was losing a lot of it.
I imagine it was anybody's guess if she would've died from the bite or blood loss first, but AJ got to her in time. I'm so proud of him!

All i want to say is, this messed up my feelings so badly...
I'm not gonna lie, your big reaction the moment Clementine appeared and you jumping around, i re-winded to that part like 6 times.
I think there was supposed to be an ending where she didn't survive by not trusting AJ, it may have just gotten cut. Look at how in the letter he says Clem trusted him, I think this letter was cut because it pertained exclusively to the good ending.
I think that would have been very satisfying though. Like, this ending just seemed like we had no control over it. It ends good no matter what. Like I love clem, love her to bits, but it would have been an amazing lesson for AJ, it would set up his own story for a possible future game, and we wouldnt see a perm crippled Clem. I dont know I just think that if you didnt put your trust in him, he should have taken her out (or left her) like she asked. He wouldnt have made the hard call, just like at the bridge. The two parallels would have been nice to see and a bit more satisfying than a good ending on both.

Clem was bit for probably 2-3 hours before her leg was cut off, cause the raid was about midnight, and I can assume it was probably like 3-4 AM when she was bit, and it was sunrise when her leg got cut off
The reason Lee probably died was because he was bit for a majority of the day. He was bit around sunrise/early morning and by the time they leave the hospital it's evening/early sunset.
And clementine was bitten in the leg where the axe cut was it cutted lot of nerves and blood vessels so they cant go in the body so easily
I think honestly that Minnie, in trying to kill Clem, accidentally saved her
Hell nah. Clem was bitten for 15-20 minutes at most. Just rewatch the playtrough the sun is rising just when they are leaving the cliff. When they're around the barn it's very early morning, then the walker fight and right afterwards her leg is cut off. Like 15-20 minutes is almost everytime still too late and if Clem's leg wasn't fucked up by that axe she would have probably died. But that wound just did something with her nerves and her bloodsystem so that the infection couldn't spread trough the leg. Anyway we are so lucky. She lives. 💚💜💛💙

I think that telltale had clementine die originally and then skybound changed it to where she survived. The ending part did seem pretty spliced

Here's the thing that gets me. AJ used an axe that he just used to cut a walker open. That axe was covered in walker blood when he amputated Clem's leg. How did she not get infected from that? Maybe when AJ cauterised the wound, he also cleaned the wound before the infection could spread?

If Clem were to really die at the barn, I’d remind myself that I’ve let walkers chow on her at least 10 times before everytime I fail at those walker killing sections. That way I wouldn’t have to feel bad about Clem and myself

Did you notice Clem gets injured in every season? Some determinate and some not
S1: Clem cuts her finger in a drawer.
S2. Dog bites Clem's arm, Carver slaps Clem (determinate), Troy slaps Clem (Determinate), Troy knocks Clem down with the but of his rifle (determinate), Arvo shoots Clem
S3. Clem get scratched by a bullet (determinate), head busted open on the windshield (determinate), amputated ring finger (determinate)
S4: Clem gets bitten and loses her leg

It was quite obvious she would have made it, why?: They stood in a barn and then a flashback with the ranch shows how clem saved aj and now it was just the opposite
I know that this is the final season but I always had one question ever since the season started, how and why did the zombie outbreak started? Could they do a season where we play as AJ finding out how it happened and finding some sort of cure to end this dark era. It would be cool my personal opinion.

I don't think a cure is coming soon, if at all. The game is in the comic universe and the comic is still going. But there's something to think about. In the comics, the outbreak started 6-7 years ago. In the final season of the game, it's been 8-9 years since the outbreak. Therefore, the events on the final season haven't even happened yet and are future events! The comics right now are between the events of ANF and TFS.
Will Noble my theory is the government was developing a toxin that was suppose to improve the human body. they wanted to see if the toxin was safe so they got a dumbass that was willing to do the test for a large sum of money this person is patient zero. they inserted the toxin in patient zero either by food or injection. when they saw nothing was wrong with them they release patient zero. patient zero turned a couple hours later and someone who thought they were sick went to see if they were okay. patient zero bit that person. once patient zero was taken off that person that person left then hours later they turned and bit someone or a group of unsuspected people maybe their friends. once the "Walkers" were killed they would release that toxin into the air, this is how the infection gets into the body without getting bit. another theory is that someone got into a bad thing of chemicals by accident and that's how patient zero happened.
I like this explanation a lot. I would’ve thought that the axe he used was covered in so much walker blood that it would’ve reinfected the wound but maybe the cauterization killed the virus before it got reintroduced to the bloodstream.
I always saw the ending as Abstract, you can see it as Clem surviving, or you can see it as AJ’s dream, kind of like how Clementine dreams about Lee still being alive and talking to him about all the problems she’s facing in the present day, AJ does the same with Clem, imaging her still alive for better days.
She was bitten a couple of minutes before AJ chopped her leg. Easy.

@@7770robi I don't think blood spreads the disease, I think its just bites or scratches and such. Because they put walker blood all over them all the time, and if they got even a little cut, they would've gotten the disease from that. So idk.
GoodGuy The infection is bone-borne, teeth are bones so when bitten it makes you turn, this is proven by seeing people get walker blood in their eyes, mouths, etc but not turning, but in season 3 of the TV show we see Big Tiny get stabbed by a handless walker with it’s bone out and it makes him start to turn

All that's known is that everyone is infected with it (thus everyone reanimates upon death walker bite or not) and that it weakens the host's immune system, hence why people die from the bacterial infection caused by bites, not the infection itself.
Walker blood can be harmful if introduced into the bloodstream. This is seen in S8 of the show where the Saviors use infected weapons against the Militia. The infected axe wouldn't have made a difference since Clem was already bitten.
Maybe after that bite she may have the cure for like freshly bitten people

imo I think if Abel is missing an arm, AJ thinks back to that and tries it for Clem. If Abel isn't missing an arm, I think AJ thinks back to maybe stories about Lee (if he cut it off) maybe Clem even mentioned Reggie idk... or AJ might have been desperate to save Clem and did it not knowing if it'd work or not. Because whether Abel loses an arm or not AJ still does it.

She was probably pale because of blood loss and she probably didn't turn that fast because the bite wasn't deep because of the boot
Although I agree with the first part, I disagree with the second because the walker in the first game didn't bite very deep, and I've seen/noticed/ other situations where even a cut from a walker could be very dangerous/kill them. Though most would say it takes a bite, even a small bite that isn't treated immediately can fester into a full walker.

though the thickness of the boot and clothing might have something to do with it, effectively preventing the bite from going any further than it would have without them
Clementine always was a bad b*tch I would absolutely love to see how she would fight with her crutches or a fake leg. It would make hers and AJs bond so much more tighter because they would need to work together more.

I’ve not been able to stop thinking about this game all week. It’s as if my brain can’t accept that it’s only a game and it’s not real, I’m constantly thinking about all the different things that happened, what could have happened and what should have happened. The entire damn sound track has been replaying in my head for days. It’s just such a masterpiece I can’t even put words out to explain how much I love this. If was by far my favourite season and I just can’t seem to accept that it’s over. I literally start crying every time I see the “thank you for playing” at the end.

I am genuinely at a point right now where I’d rather I didn’t even play this game, or I’d prefer if clem had just died. Because I jus5 can’t stop thinking about this shit it’s unreal, and I seriously want them to continue clems journey. I feel like I grew up with her, and I’ve always looked forward to what will happen next , now that it’s over I’m just so emotional. I feel like I’d be able to deal with is a lot easier if I could just accept that she died for AJ and move on. I can’t stand knowing she’s alive and just not ever going to see the rest of her journey. Idk how to explain what I’m feeling but it hurts man, it hurts 😂😂😂
blood lost helped her survive because the virus which was "woken up" around that area couldn't travel (theory if blood flow was how it travels) through the other parts of the body and her pale skin was due to blood loss and after her leg was chopped off and the blood loss was stopped because of AJ cauterizing the wound
Honestly the more i think about it... It's not implausible that aj pulled it off. He's shown to be pretty physically capable throughout the season. (at least able to physically hold a walker off of him, able to keep moving despite being shot.) I also think it's possible either violet or Louis or some of the other kids would've went looking for them with Rosie or something as well and were able to help aj mid way maybe.

That's what I think it was. That bite was right under the ax wound so there probably wasn't any blood flowing from the bite to the rest of her body.

I think if they do another TWD game it'll be AJ's story but we'll see Clem cause they're all at the school together. Game could build off the choices from Clem's story (so Tenn/Violet/Louis are there respectfully) and you play as AJ maybe at 9-10 years old or older
Lee did pass out remember? He was probably out for at LEAST an hour. But still. It was at least 3 hours or more for clem!
kelly what I think happened with Lee was that he died of blood loss, that's why he passed out in the road, of course this is the "cut off arm" route.
I fucking love Clem but her surviving ruined it all. She was given plot armour. The one thing you don't give to someone that's already been bitten, is dying, had their leg chopped off, etc

The thing with lee is that no disinfectant was used when they cut his arm off, but with Ruby knew how to treat it and could use disinfectant to get rid of the virus.
And also if you remember Clem used disinfectant in season two to fix here arm when she sewed it together.

Also wanted to say thank you for the video, while I didn't care HOW she lived, it is seriously awesome to see the "how". I feel they did a good job with the explanation, AJ was raised tough, Clem basically saved herself by teaching him how to survive, him saving her meant she did her job, and exceeded what even she had hoped for....it's beautiful, heartwarming, and brought joy to my heart (even though it was ripped in half at first). I just wish the story didn't have an end...I'll await the day Skybound may decide to carry on AJs and Clem's story.
