Me clicking on this video: oh he's just gonna do it over the existing helmet
Me 13 min in: This dude made his own helmet.....
Yes now take my sub
and then sat in his living room using it...
The whole time im watching I'm like. "That's cool but it's not a legally approved helmet anymore." Then he's just useing it to sim race🤣 can't complain 👍
Think its beter than the original lmao harder and better than the original one

Crazy amount of effort for an awesome helmet. I'll be trying this but with the 2 sheets of full carbon fiber cloth and then painting the seam where each have meets! Thanks for the inspiration
This is insanely well done! And yes, I did not expect such an end 😁👍
this is so satisfying to watch, never skiped a single frame.
Definitely laughed at the end! Thanks for the great content.
Agreed was a funny ending 👍
So funny man
🤦🏻♂️🙋🏻♂️🙍🏻♂️👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
100% agree 😂
Actually thats only thing he could use it for it is too hard for use in real life becouse helmets are made to absorb impact and his helmet is equivalent in hardness to steel helmet if not even harder so thats why he uses it in sim
Wow! What patience and determination, you left me speechless. Thanks for sharing 👍
That really did escalate quickly. Classic case of a small(ish) job turning into a huge one :') The end product was well worth the time and effort. Hats off to you sir :)
By far, the best DIY project I've watched on CZcams!
Thats quite a process, the result is amazing
Woah... you actually made a carbon fiber helmet shell. I'm not sure it's quite SNELL approved but this is incredibly impressive.

that's excellent man! watching all these steps is almost therapeutic
At the Start of the Video: „yes! Now i can make my own Carbon helmet“

Super Sick helmet!! Great job. And I’m so glad your being safe and using a HANS device and carbon helmet to play video games. Your a good role model👍
I had to edit this comment because I noticed to drive your car on a circuit and I’m sure the sim helps your technique. And building a carbon helmet is fun and gets views on your CZcams channel and gives you a cool helmet for the sim. Sorry for being sarcastic in my first comment.
This looks insane! I would definitely buy a helmet like this, but without the sticker and a fully mat black cover
That may just be the coolest thing I’ve ever seen on CZcams. Mad respect sir. ✌️

I would love to see how it stands up to SNELL/FIA Standards, amazing craftsmanship, just not exactly sure on if it’ll hold up to doing its job as an FIA advanced helmet like my Authentic GP-6RC. Cool video!
I am horrified to see this project. I've been riding for decades and had several spills. I would never play games with my head. Suitable for video gaming roleplay only.
@@der_kanadier It is probaly safe for Driving on the Motorbike, because the filling Material is from Arai and that takes most of the Impact from a Crash but dont quote me :)
Because the plastic skin that's not even 1 mil thick really helps absorb the shock not the padding on the inside.
The filling material was made for the inside of the original helmet. Not the outside. No matter what is done, the carbon fiber “whatsit” is way bigger than the original helmet.
Helmets are designed and then the sticker is slapped on. Who knows if yours would even pass the asinine Snell test when they ram a metal ball the size of an orange from 10 feet above. Because that's so relevant in motoring applications...
WTF! u spent time just to have a carbon helmet just for that ....u made my day happy with this video....cool😁🤣😂😍

Dude i wish i could give this more than 1 thumbs up. Thats really awesome. Maybe with the extra material you can make a carbon fiber steering wheel for your sim like how you did the helmet.
Id love to see you make intake tubes and the mold for your BMW! Great videos you make
It’s amazing just how much stuff you need to do this and time waiting. I’m doing skinning and just getting all the stuff cost a lot to hope get it right lol. Any way great job

absolutely amazing job.... well worth the time and effort. top job buddy
All that work for a sim racing helmet, I was flabbergasted, I did not see that coming.
Great job and thanks for the entertainment!
This is awesome for sim racing, definitely can't use this on track though.
I sim race but just make do with a wheel & pedal set-up, I think going to those extremes is a bit sad & pathetic if I'm honest & for the money he's spent on his driving gear & race rig why not just do the real thing!
@@CaptainScarlet1961 its 100x more expensive to do the real thing. You literally will need a team. You'll need multiple tires, pay for the fuel, extra car parts, and the license cost money.
@@CaptainScarlet1961 these extreme setups are generally useful for practicing to do the real thing. Immensely cheaper than actually driving and almost as good

Absolutely love your work. Having minimal fiberglass experience, a few rookie questions. What is pva? what is the release film step and why do you have to vacuum bag vs just saturate in resin like fiberglass? Thanks again for your videos. Pat.
I’m not certain on this, but I think the vac bag is to get 100% saturation and maybe to get rid of bubbles? That’s what seems to be the case but if anyone knows please let me know

Beautiful job, but a tip for poor people like me. Don't do this to a new Arai helmet, go to a Pawn Shop & get a 2nd hand helmet.
Just DON'T buy a 2nd hand helmet. I dont say every 2nd hand helmet is bad but there are a lot of clone's out there with a populair brand sticker on it which will most likely kill you rather than saving your life in case of an accident. Also you dont know the history of that helmet, the previous owner may have dropped it without having much damage on the outside but on the inside there may be damage.
Me personally would just save up a few hundreds dollars extra to get new gear than buy it for cheap from some pawn shop
@@markbrouwer4901 Literally doesn't matter as the guy used it only to create a mold for his new helmet which he uses for simracing
@@briankang7019 that's true. But for riding in real life, i would just rather buy a new one.

For everyone questioning the safety, he used tools and processes consistent with what factories do to make this exact same helmet in its carbon version. I know it's not tested and he should never sell it - he probably has no intention of ever doing it as multiple lawsuits would income very quickly - but this is probably even safer than what he started with. There is A LOT of overlay between the carbon fiber sheets, so the helmet would never split in half. Also he used the original padding, which is certified. The engineering is preserved by his moulding technique. He could take this to a track and he would be as protected, if not more, than someone using for instance a cheap SA2020 helmet.
would you honnestly bet your life on it bro ?
@@atsushiishirame4858 if he made me one exactly like the one he did, I'd use it on the Karting track in a heartbeat.
There is real science and engineering behind making a helmet safe. Especially for a company like Arai. This is nothing more than a show piece that should never be used for anything other than sim racing.
@@johnjacob688 science and engineering go into designing the helmet and the build process. The rest is mechanical. You'd be amazed at how little skill is needed to reproduce it once it's done.
@@yanava There's no way this helmet shell was hand laid even close to Arais manufacturing specs.

@@SeamTressGaming I was thinking wouldn't mind seeing him test this for the road
I'm not sure anyone would argue it, but I don't know if this can technically be certified. Unless you're racing at the higher levels, I doubt anyone would question it. I'm sure it would pass if it was to be certified.
@@Jeffball610 No DOT certification, No Snell certification, no Bueno . . . no matter how good of a job he did. They test for more than just impact. Perfect for his application however. And that's the coolest looking helmet ever!
@@Jeffball610 It'd never pass any certification with a seam down the middle. Helmets are made seamless for a reason. Many times has a helmet been hit and split down the middle on older tech. Thats why no one makes helmets that have a seam down the center, carbon fiber or not.
