- The full trailer for Star Wars: Ahsoka dropped today and given the connections between that show and Heir to the Empire, it felt right to do some commentary and point out a few things I noticed.

I did after TFA, the fact that they are now doing Thrawn dirty is just so sad. The best EU antagonist and they ruined him.

@@hannahkennelly6961 I've been rereading the OG Thrawn trilogy again and it's amazing how smartly written he was in those books. He literally looks like a Scooby-Doo villain in comparison when you watch Disney's version.

I hope your speculations about Corran Horn come true. It’d be so cool to see him again. I’m curious about a character called Captain Enoch being played by Wes Chatham according to IMDb. Perhaps he will be revealed to be Corran? Either way, I’m really excited to watch this show. Great video!

I wont be checking this out. I enjoyed Asoka as a character during the clone wars cartoon. The thing I noticed is how she was only created to market SW to teenage girls. There was no real point to adding her in the story or even a full explanation as to how ? So Anakin was still a Jedi Knight given a padawan that dont work like that. Anakin the most unstable Jedi was given a padawan to train. It doesnt work like that...
It does work like that, because it was supposed to make him more responsible, given in care someone as brash and unruly as he is
I never liked Ahsoka for the reason you gave. I don't buy the Council would give this reckless young man a student to look after, especially in wartime, the likes of which hasn't been seen in a thousand years.

He is. At Celebration they talked about how they had him involved. I don't think he wrote anything, but he gave a lot of advice on Thrawn.
@@DarthAngelus Yeah, actually, Zahn admits there was little time to be consulted on Rebels, but that he trusted Filoni. I have no doubts his input here is very tiny. They're just using him to try and bait EU fans in.

3:29: About it potentially being Whistler (& Corran) in the E-Wing: That could _very_ well be! I just looked in the first pages of the Rogue Squadron novel, and it does state Whistler is a green and white R2 unit. However, in the Essential Guide to Vehicles and Vessels, the E-Wing page states that the advanced computers in the fighter were too much for R2 units, so it requires R7 droids instead. That might be too obscure a factoid for them to let get in the way of the story, though. :)
I wish they'd continued Legends instead of ransacking it for parts.
There was E-wing in one of Lego shows. That one about Force sensitive clone. But it's nowhere near canon. And was closer to Dark Empire design with top cannon and all.
There is Calamari NR pilot shown as secondary character and Ahsoka in flight suit. To be fair, I don't want to see Horn in name only. We have Thrawn in this place already.

Sabine never really knew Ashoka tbh she knew her when she was around but she never interacted with her. I guess this show is gonna be all the women of star wars cause the force is female. Loved star wars rebels and their characters but seeing what Kathleen Kennedy has done to star wars I'm not sure I'll watch this. That's cool the animated mural of rebels is there. It's great to see Mickelson as a love action Thrawn. If thrawn is back shouldn't that mean Ezra is back? This is after return of the jedi right?
I hope he doesn't either. I want the Thrawn Trilogy to be the beginning of his EU adaptations.
Going to keep my expectations in check for this one. No matter how good it turns out to be, it can't compete with the original Thrawn Trilogy imo. It already feels like Ashoka is getting Luke's story and the ghost crew is getting Han and Leia' story with Hera getting some of Wedge's role as well. At the very least, I'm hoping it's more of an original story and not a copy and paste of the EU Thrawn trilogy, because I'm beyond sick of canon adapting EU characters and storylines and acting like it's their original ideas.
Yeah, Filoni's always rewritten the EU to be what he wants. It's why I laugh when people act like he's somehow working against Disney Star Wars. He never was.
Agreed. After watching this show, it’s plain as day that Dave’s regurgitating Kathleen’s agenda through this show. We have a non force sensitive female being trained to be a jedi, Dave’s unkillable golden character continuing to be unstoppable, and Thrawn is so incompetent that it’s not even laughable.

Yup. TCW is full EU continuity breaking concepts and stories that considering this show a part of the EU is blasphemy to me.
@@isiahforward3707 There's a video out there that insists Filoni "respects" Legends, and you got so many drooling idiots lapping it up, because they're deliberately ignoring the context. They see Luke's treatment by Disney when he says that "if I'm gonna use it, I don't want to change it, that'd be rude." He's not talking about Luke, he's talking about THRAWN, and yet he did just that, he isn't the same character because he changed his story. So Filoni lied, just as much as when he claimed every new Disney EU book would be on his same "canon" tier and then goes to retcon it like he's always done. And that the community lets him get away with this is one of the biggest tragedies in the Disney Star Wars era.
Having Asoka as a character whether you like her or not still breaks the cannon of the OGT. At this point it doesn't really matter but still so she just sat back the entire OGT was never mentioned by any of the original characters and is just shoe horned in at the last minute to get more of the teen to tween age girl demographic to watch the clone wars show. Its was sloppily done like everything else put out after Revenge of the Sith.
I have not watched the Ahsoka show. I have zero interest in watching Filoni strip down the EU for parts, that he claims to be a "fan" of, and rewrite it to be about his pet characters. The blind worship that man gets borders on unreal.

I absolutely agree that it won’t be a 1:1 adaptation of Heir to the Empire. Some elements will be adapted, but it will be a new story.
That said, I can’t help but wonder if Baylan and Shin are reimaginings of Jorus C'baoth and Mara Jade… 🤔
It's not even an adaptation. An adaptation is faithful, and Filoni has NEVER cared to do that.
To me, Star Wars is everything before George sold the franchise, minus Baloney's TCW. This yet another bastardization of original good stories is of no interest to me.

I have no hope for this or anything of Star Wars made by the owners. LucasFilm is a hallow shell. It is painful and the quality lacks so much of the lived in elements visually, I cannot imagine anything truly great coming from this. The music is also so generic and absolutely not Star Wars.
They're just so horrible, it's heartbreaking.

Filoni has also always been a hack, outright abusive of the franchise in how little he cares about other authors and maintaining any continuity. I never thought this would be good, but I didn't think it would be the single most soulless thing in all of Star Wars. Every other thing, including the Holiday Special, at least has a theme. It has a meaning, a purpose, bad as it may be. Ahsoka doesn't. It is genuinely without a central idea.

There is no reason to be excited for this garbage. Its just another shit piece of media that'll ruin even more beloved Legacy characters (including EU ones) with a bad story that'll be riddled with plot holes, contradictions and inconsistencies.
