For those who don't understand the reference to "Would you kindly" basically it's a reference to BioShock. This is a trigger phrase that causes the protagonist to lose all free will and do a task without question and is mostly used by one of the characters, Atlas.
I originally thought that the guy asking for the password was a reference in itself to Kratos. As soon as I saw him in this video I was like, "Kratos! I got one." Then I found out its the dialogue that are the easter eggs, lol.
who are ken and larry?????
Same 😂
@@kiraslife329 leisure suit Larry
Same
For those of you who remember, “Ken sent me” is a reference to the first Leisure Suit Larry game.
a (wo?)man of culture, I see
I thought it was, but couldn't nail it down.
@@stephenlawrence554 a person of culture.
Thanks. I knew the other 2 but had no idea on the 3rd.
That’s what I was thinking
I don't think you've covered this one yet,
In Metro Exodus, right after first meeting Krest and taking the zip line, you can go into an underground area under the building you land in and find a rabbit with red glowing eyes inside a room with a dead mutant. Pretty sure it's referencing Monty Python and the Holy Grail
ok
I'm glad you posted this comment, I just started playing through it and that'll be fun to find
I'm absolutely loving all the backrooms easter eggs considering its a play on video game logic
Yea
I watch Captan Eggcellent like it’s my Saturday morning cartoons
It's funny that i never played leisure suit Larry or even watched any video of it but i do know that "Ken sent me" is the password you use to enter lefty's bar
I think I found a reference to 28 days later in Cyberpunk. During side job, the Ballad of Buck Ravers, You can hear what sounds like In The House, In a Heartbeat. I'm not sure if you've already covered it but I think it's quite neat.
The same song was used for Metro Exodus
@@thejunktownsheriffkilliand4800 yeah but metro is a remix they did
in TABS there are tons of hidden units which are all found in similar ways to the shouter, you traverse the map and find some random objects that will glow and give you a secret unit.
4:58 Damn the Dovahkiin just dodged the hell out of that bat
*Epic dodge*
*Punch friend*
I was waiting for a game to do it. Phantom hysteria immediately gains so much respect from me for finally making a whole backrooms level in their game and actually making it make sense to access.
In God of War Ragnarok, in Midgard you can find the treasures from Uncharted. For, Example you can find the "Dagger" from Uncharted 2. This is a reference to Umcharted 2 because the Daggers look identical.
fr???????
You can annoy Ratatoskr in God of War Ragnarok if you keep ringing the chimes that calls him. The dialogues were funny and interesting.
i didn't expect a Leisure Suit Larry reference in Dying Light 2 that's rad
Another neat Easter Egg for God of War Ragnarok - when traveling with Mimir, he'll eventually asks Kratos about a tournament the latter participated in. Apparently he "did battle with beasts, scoundrels, princesses, the undead, automatons, and... history’s greatest musician".
This is a reference to Kratos appearing in Mortal Kombat 9, as the very first guest character of the franchise (and the only video game guest character to date!). In the game he fought Reptile, Kano, Kitana/Mileena, Scorpion, multiple cyborgs and Rain, who is named and designed after "Purple Rain", a song by Prince.
People also think that it could be a reference to his appearances Playstation All-Stars Battle Royale and/or SoulCalibur: Broken Destiny, but neither of those are really a tournament as much as Mortal Kombat's is. Not sure if it's ever been confirmed one way or another, though.
I was about to comment about this myself! MK9 seems like the most likely reference, but I like to think of it as a reference to Playstation All-Stars because I adore the idea of Parappa being referred to as "history's greatest musician".
The best musician in the world is not Rain as a reference to Prince. Sorry dude, it’s most clearly Parappa that’s a fat stretch
@@harrisoncooper3721 that's what I'm thinking lol
@@dragonate846 It could be either, honestly! The musician line fits Parappa more, and the tournament line fits Mortal Kombat more. The only one that doesn't really fit is SoulCalibur - at least I don't think there were any musicians or princesses in that game.
@@harrisoncooper3721 It could be either, honestly! The musician part fits Parappa more, and the tournament part fits Mortal Kombat more. The only one that doesn't really fit is SoulCalibur - at least I don't think there were any musicians or princesses in that game.
3:56 Ellie's tattoo is also on the cover of the poem book :)
I love how TABS rewards you for exploring and finding easter eggs, I think it's a good way to make people think on how to unlock them... And they can add 100+ references in them too.
@Captain Eggcellent
The dog bark you can hear at 7:44 - 7:46 reminds me of "The Binding of Isaac" where the Item "Dog Tooth" makes it so the game makes a bark sound, exactly you can hear here, whenever there is a crawlspace where you can find coins, chests, items or sometimes black markets. I really think thats another little easter egg itself.
Bro this ain't twitter you can't @ someone
@@stormwind417 oh ok
@@stormwind417 bet
@@stormwind417 I have @ed you in this sentence.
I'm not sure if you have covered this yet but in the mobile game "wall kickers" if you unlock the character "teddy" the characters description says "Spend a few nights at his place and you'll see he's not that bad. " I'm 99% it's a reference to Five Nights at Freddy's
the backroom reference is actually good
I'm sure I've seen you do Genshin Impact before, I think for the sword in the stone reference in Mondstat. But in any case on the PS5 if you pause the game and then blow into the Mic, Piemon will react by getting blown away by the wind from you blowing into it. Do it enough times and she gets annoyed at you. I know its not much of an Easter Egg, but I find it kinda cool how they implemented that feature for the PS5's mic. Not sure if it works on the PS4 or anything else though.
3:37 Not only is the poem a reference, but the design on the book is the forearm tattoo Ellie has in TLOU2.
The person who says you've got the wrong password's got puns, lol.
1. Bioshock.
2. Portal.
3. Leisure Suit Larry.
I did not play any of those 3 and guess them lol
@@mateuszburak5119 I played a little bit of Portal and, though I have Bioshock's collection from when they were free on Epic, I hadn't played any of them yet. I never played LSL, either, though.
Just binged all 86 episodes. love the series! like and subscribed.
"Ken sent me" is a reference to Leisure Suit Larry. Never thought that of all games would be referenced.
New video? My day just got 10x better 😊
First two of the DL2 easter egg is Bioshock and Portal. I had an inkling of the third one but I'm not going to add it since I looked it up.
You should do a video talking about Sonic Frontiers. There are cutscenes in the game that make many callbacks to previous titles.
Also, while progressing through the game, you’ll notice that Sonic’s idle animation changes, indicating that he’s more fatigued as the corruption spreads through his body every time you visit a new island
I didn’t even know there was a goat simulator 2
That’s the joke, there isn’t one
there isn't goat sim 3 dropped today
there is no goat simulator 2 😂
There isn't although iirc one of the Devs said at some point that the mmorpg dlc for the first one was planned to be a full sequel game
I recall one of the collectibles in God of War: Ragnarok being a reference to Toto's Africa- "I Bless The Rains In Vanaheim"
in lego marvel superheroes 2 in the medieval england section of the map, you can hear someone say he had a job until he took an arrow to the knee. I dont remember the full line but it was clear it was a skyrim reference and it made me laugh very much XD
Bioshock reference “Shockingly”, Portal reference of course and Leisure Suit Larry reference.
Man, it's great when he uploads a video. It's always interesting seeing what developers do in their games for the heck of it. Like, none of these kinds of things are necessary, just for the fun of it, and I think that's pretty cool overall.
I wish he would go further back and look at details or easter eggs in older games. For example, not an easter egg but a neat little detail from the PS2 game Jaws Unleashed, if you get the authorities after you and swim up to certain beaches, local police will drive out in cars and shoot at you from the shore. Another detail I remember was that if you grabbed a diver and they had an arm free they'd grab their knife and start stabbing you, causing damage. This is a game from friggin' 2006.
In God of War Ragnarok. When fighting the Light Elves in Alheim. It's noted that the crystal from the previous game doesn't form the light bridges anymore. But if you knock a light elf onto where on of the bridges would be. The bridge forms and you can fight on them.
Heres one you havnt covered : in dying light 2 in the prologue you can go up to a red tower and aiden will say something referencing to dying light 1
btw, in GOD OF WAR RAGNAROK, Mimir tells kratos that he had participated in tournaments, to which kratos replies that he participated in several tournaments and mimir says that there is one in particular where he fought with princesses, musicians, adventurers, referencing that he participated in playstation all-stars battle royale
@Wolffe3636 maybe, maybe both
The baseball poem in god of war is beautiful
The best about the Kvasir's poems in GoW Ragnarok is when you read it, in the right side of the poem, like the cover draw of the book, is already a direct reference to the game
Thanks captain. I commented the poem easter egg previously. Another one of the poems is a rachet and clang reference. Nice to see you read the comments.
In TABS there is also a special dinosaur unit that reminds me of the Google Dino
I’m goat simulator 3 , you can find wilson from castaway. You need to go through the portal at the end of the quest swedes assemble in sverge. And he is on the right of the warehouse in a doghouse. I hope you do more goat simulator 3 because there are so many Easter eggs in the game
I don't know if you've covered this but there's a funny easter egg in Crysis: Warhead. In the level "Frozen Paradise" there's a cave during the middle of the level. If you explore it you will find frozen Scrat trying to get the famous acorn.
My Space? Great news, I still have My Space too, although it's been rather quiet there for several years yet I still check it daily. One can only hope.
In deep rock galactic, the new season bring new items to see and interact in the space rig, one of them is a virus contained, the small screen in the container has a chance of displaying "Alan add details"
I think the cow holding a tommygun is a reference to the O’ brother where art thou scene in which one of the characters shoots at cows with a tommy gun riding down the road
It's been many years since I've seen a Larry Laffer Refernce in a game. That made me happy.
Thanks for making my joints hurt by remembering how quick I switched my top 8 😄
Was that third one a reference to leisure suit Larry? The other two are obviously bio shock and portal
Your videos NEVER gets bored
NEVER ONCE
Would be wierd if it did
@@Linus-qo4qe 👀
Boring*
1:45
That line could have have gotten him in, if only the protagonist was wearing a Leasure Suit😉😉
Little do you know, every time a video game has water in it, it's obviously a reference to Jaws
The Goat in Goat Simulator is named after a goat in one of the greatest shows ever made: Kenny vs Spenny
The red bike found in the backroom, on the last clip, looks familiar to a red bike found in grounded.
The "would you kindly" was an easy reference from bioshock 1 when the guy said would you kindly and your character started remembering and falling on the ground and the portal one is obvious but the last one I have no idea
GoW:R also has a reference to PlayStation All Stars, in which at some point Mimir asks (after a conversation about tournaments Kratos fought in) “But this particular one, I heard you did battle with beasts, scoundrels, princesses, the undead, automatons and… history's greatest musician. That's not… that's not true, is it?”
My favorite Jaws e.e. Is in LEGO Jurassic World. But I agree, it would be nice to see the movie referenced more than just quoting "gonna need a bigger boat"
1:25
I know that the "Would you kindly" should be from Bioshock and "The Cake is a Lie" is obviusly from Portal. But I don't knkw the third one.
I think goat sim’s compass is heavily Skyrim inspired as well. Then there’s the “Fallout boy” suit and the yellow tint in a radioactive area as references to fallout. The devs love to put references from Bethesda RPGs in for some reason
this guy needs more subs so underated
Goat Simulator referencing the Skyrim is surprising but very welcomed lmao
A detail about God of War Ragnarok is that Thor's belly wound didn't heal throughout the game because the axe was Eitr imbued in the 2018 game. Tl'dr Thor is poisoned by Jormie's venom, in the Eddas he got poisoned so bad he only had 9 steps before collapsing after defeating Jorm.
I am enjoying this habit of back rooms easter eggs
I have “would you kindly” tattooed to my arm so when I heard that I was like Yesssirrr😂
I think ken and Larry are a reference to leisure suit larry
The last video where you no clip into the back rooms is genius
You wouldn’t describe Joel as cruel? Did you forget WHY he got his dome turned into mash potatoes?
The dialogue answers:
1. Bioshock, Would you kindly is a reference to when you lose free will and do a quest
2. Portal, Cake is a lie should be pretty recognizable now
3. Leisure Suit Larry, Ken sent me is the password to enter the pimp’s room
Not sure if it was covered or not, but GoW Ragnarok also references (and canonizes) Playstation All-Stars.
I've heard "Hey, you, you're finally awake" so many times I get a headache at this point.
The cover of the poem book for that Last of Us easter egg is a picture of Ellie's tattoo
"Would you kindly?" - bioshock. "The cake is a lie" - Portal, which is the phrase that got referenced in an early SMG4 video. "Ken sent me" - leisure suit larry.
In Modern Warfare 2022, the Helicopter Gunner score streak has 2 different animations for being shot down with bullets vs rockets.
I've never been so happy to see a bioshock reference, I feel like I've never seen them
The covers on the books in GOWR also have Easter eggs, 2 that stood out to me was one cover depicting Ratchet n Clank, and the other depicting the United States
Astro playroom is also referenced there.
So is PlayStation all stars
1:22 first one’s bioshock, second is portal, and third is leisure suit larry
Another Easteregg in God of War Ragnarok is that if you collect Kvasir’s poems and head back to sindri’s house you can see a bookshelf with all of the poems that you have collected one of the poems book cover is astro from astro’s playroom.
With your recent Fifa detail I have another one for you. I discovered this on Fifa 20 but I am quite sure the detail remained in later editions.
After years and years of playing Fifa this might be the most incredible detail and the one that I'm sure 99% of players don't even know about. Well it's because you can spot it only at some games once you win a certain tournament with a certain team.
Let me explain.
If you play as Real Madrid in a Champions League game, their shirts are a little bit different to a shirt you would see in a league game. The difference is a tiny badge on a side of a left sleeve showing a number of european trophies Real Madrid have ever won (13, which was correct in 2019 when the game came out. They added one more last season).
Now if you play a career mode as Real Madrid and you win a European trophy, the number will increase.
I find it absolutely mindblowing that such a small thing that's barely visible to a player is actually updating every time you win a trophy.
Also don't know if you knew this but if you play fifa on Christmas Day (just change your date on your PC to try it out) the commentators will acknowledge this and wish you a merry Christmas. It might work for New Years as well, but not sure.
Leisure suit Larry, portal, and Bioshock
I don't know if you have already covered this, but in God of War: Ragnarok, there's another Playstation reference.
One of Mimir's little chats with Kratos is when he asks the Ghost of Sparta about the time he fought in a tournament against a ton of different people, including "the greatest musician of all time". Kratos then just tells Mimir to shut up.
The reference is to Playstation Allstars, and that "greatest musician of all time" was Parappa the Rapper.
You realize goat Sim 3 is probably going to take an entire video and more😂
I found an IT Easter egg earlier today in goat sim 3
In bendy and the dark revival if you hit bendy his head spins and in the very first part of the game you can look at a mirror enough times a host will pop out. Last one also in the very first part of the game you can find 3 colorful balls and put them in a bucket it will spawn a weird puppet thing out of the bucket. That’s BENDY AND THE DARK REVIVAL
I have a potentially not yet covered easter egg for you: in River City Girls all the masked wrestler enemies have quite unusual names that seem to be referencing real life wrestlers. "DWAYNE" (The Rock) Johnson, "LEON" (Big Van Vader) White. "AURELIEN" (Jake The Snake Roberts) Smith, Robert Alexander (Rob Van Dam) "SZATKOWSKI", "OSCAR" (Rey Misterio jr.) Gutierrez and James (Ulimate Warrior) "HELLWIG".
All the greasers seem to be named after singers and obviously the cyborgs are modelled after the Terminator.
There is a Skyrim Easter egg in A plague tale requiem, around the beginning of the game, please check it out.
"Ken Sent Me" is the first thing I think off when a game asks me for a password.
... probably because I've finished the first Leisure Suit Larry game multiple times.
I love goat simulator. Played it when I was a kid
Cake is a lie is a portal reference that can be found in the little “dens” throughout the game, it prepares you for the reveal halfway through the game
there's a reference to the sea shanty song in Tiny Tina's wonderlands, just recently heard it when i played it and i found it quite funny
pilgrimage has an easter egg for tf2 and can be found in the desert
Back when I play tabs I had all the secret operators every single one all of them
Not sure if you've covered this detail but in Batman Arkham City, when you knock out an enemy, you can see their chest rising and falling as they breathe.
It bugs me that they went that far with the details but not far enough to make broken bones appear in detective mode
@@bn-tc2tk I was actually checking for broken bones when I found this detail.
Theres a ghost busters reference in destroy all humans 2 remake on the moon level in one of the main missions. I think its the second or third to last mission.
Ken sent me is a reference to Leisure Suit Larry. and yes, the other two are obvious references to BioShock and Portal respectively. ~
In warzone 2 dmz, you can find comic books that sell for 100$, and the cover of the comics has an illustration of the radioactive thing from infinite warfare.
In God Of War Ragnarok if u ring the bell enough times at sindris house to call the squirrel he'll get annoyed found it kind of funny
I know Bioshock and Portal but the last one I have no idea. Maybe Leisure Suit Larry?
In mw2 campaign remastered on the mission EXODUS in the panic room when you pick up the briefcase there is a book calle mw2 weapons
No
The Easter Eggs are these in the Dying Light section:
Would you Kindly? - A Reference to Bioshock and Fontaine
The Cake is A Lie - A Reference to Portal and Glados
Ken Sent me - A Reference to Street Fighter maybe...?
In dying light 2. The first answer is a reference to bioshock, where protagonist jack is controlled by the phrase: Would you kindly?
There is a reference to PT (that one horror game about a corridor) and CSGO in goat simulator 3
Bioshock, Portal and Leisure Suit Larry (i'm that old I remember the original)
