- Simply four pieces fiber board (duct board ) transition , changing out system and redo plenum with 1 inch fiber board .
Fiber duct board is commonly used in south Florida for residential applications
👏🏽 Reminds me of a young me in the field in more ways than one. Glad to see you sized plenum transition to the opening and not the whole cabinet 👍🏽🍻.

❤ Love it Great job 👏 🎉
Good job, do a video for elbows from scratch; it will be much appreciated.
Does thiz help to reduce sound transfer?
In some cases, but specific in South florida
why didnt you add a start collar
good video though man looks nice
Not a common practice here in south florida , much different here
@@brian2coolful its very common in central florida its required here too but nice video man
No start collar no shiplap! Sorry, but that's wrong! You can't just make butt joints on duct board!
I've nevee failed an inspection here doing it that way
@@brian2coolful but you're failing AHRI and the manufacturer every time! Just because you pass inspection doesn't mean it's right!
What would have you done differently?
@@brian2coolful to start with if code doesn't require a flange around the top of the unit then I probably wouldn't worry about it either..lol.. but when I join duct board together I would cut a female shiplap on the existing duct board and a male shiplap on the new piece... also your corners should not be Butt jointed but also have a shiplap... with the air handler being on the interior I know it's not really a big deal.. but I'm in Florida and a lot of air handlers are in the garages and I can't begin to tell you the ones that sweat and leak air! Anyway it's good to see guys like you in the field... I've been in HVAC for 45 years fixing to retire and it's hard to find good replacement people! Keep doing what you do.. I didn't really mean to put you down! You certainly seem like you got a brain and you care.. that goes a long way! Stay safe and may your best days to be ahead of you!
I have done both techniques. Wouldn't the mastic on the inside take care of the butt joint leaks?
You took to long fixing this !
i work in hvac and theres alot of ways doing this wirh ductborard easy
