Imagine holding a game hostage for 30 min and being confident your skills will carry and outperform bronzes. Only to lose to those bronzes. I can't think of a better humbling experience.
Back in OW1, I'd run into people who would smurf gold just to grief both teams. They'd do stupid strategies that only work cause of the skill difference - like spawn camping with a pocketed Hog. Then they'd start BMing their team who's been having to take 4v5 team fights the whole game.

What/how is the game being held hostage?
@@andreabenton7798 by "hostage" in this situation they mean that the two dps were actively delaying the end of the game, which basically "held the match hostage" and didnt allow for anyone to move onto other matches for 30mins, JUST because the dps willingly did nothing on defense.
edit: like the match became a ping-pong/back-and-forth experience and was set up like that by the dps flats was pointing out :d

@Andrea Benton Well that's definitely a risk if they actually care about winning. If their goal is to push the match as far as possible, then one team fight where your bronzes die right away at the end of the game is gg. Even top skill players don't win 1v5 against bronzes.
Turning 90 degrees mid teamfight to bring the hammer down on Mei is absolutely peak Rein. He might not have the mechanical skill yet but underneath he’s got the Rein-heart.

The DPS players who were holding the game hostage are the type of players who get hardstuck at like Gold 4 and then decide to go on another account and play against bronze players to make them feel better about themselves.

This is actually what this is. The one guy looks like low gold/high silver, the other one is maybe high gold, low plat max.
And then get pissed when they get rolled by a plat or Diamond, and refuse to switch off the one trick they have all of there play time on

I remember a Gold game with an absolute gigachad Sig and Bap who forced a win despite our DPS duo que pulling this crap. The trolls threatened to report them too for ruining their XP farming.
You meet the best and worst of folks in this game, sometimes both at once.

Kind of off-topic, but I love the fact that two players on the enemy team are called "Feuerrabe" and "Feuerfrosch," which translates to fire raven and fire frog in German. They're probably a duo. (Edit: I kind of forgot that these are probably default Blizzard battletags. Still cute, though.)

These names are actually standard blizzard battletags in german. So it might be just a coincidence here :)

If you have 2 dps trying to draw out the game, the idea is to take the enemies dps and send them to spawncamp the trolls, and then everyone else plays a game without dps.
Of course this requires basically the entire lobby to work together, but I believe in random strangers to also have a burning hatred for said trolls

I swear big streamers dont understand how often this happens. Regular players get these AFKs/trolls at least once a day. I climbed from bronze to diamond, nd i can tell u with absolute certainty that i found ppl like these in all the ranks. It gets less and less often the higher u go, but it still happens
Rein slam damage is honestly the one thing they should never remove from rein. The nerf was acceptable but being able to just "POP" instanuke someone that is right on top of you disrespecting your space. My mans needs it.
and at 14:28 he touches the payload with less than 3 seconds on the clock so they for sure know how overtime works
I feel bad for the Rein having to take that L as collateral damage but hopefully he takes some solace in the fact that that Reaper got exactly what he deserved.

Does anyone know why Rein pin is so inconsistent? You can be standing dead center in front of him and it’ll bounce you off or you can be 3 feet above him and get vacuumed in and just die sometimes. Super annoying just for the uncertainty of playing with or against it

I’ve landed like one pin with rein, granted I don’t play him, but the small time I have, it made me have no idea how people land pins.
I have played against rein and gotten away with not being pinned because I’m 1 inch to the left or right, it’s actually kinda sad

my friend had a session where he played 20 games and 18/20 had throwers or spectating team mates. doesnt help that he’s gotten the same throwers so many times he’s recognized the username of every single thrower (not the defaut battlenet names)
When you switched to Tracer it didn't actually go to her location, it just loaded in her guns and HUD on top of Rein's location. It did the same thing when you went from Cass to Tracer.
Of course the one time Flats breaks his "its a you issue, dont blame your team, that happens like 1 out of 20 games, its meaningless, if you're good you'll climb" mentality, its for a Rein lol

I still think making reins ult doing some damage was one of the best changes they made. I’m totally fine with it not being enough to one shot enemies, but even 100 damage is enough to secure a vital pick. I’m really liking where he’s at in the game.
The other day I pulled up barrier at spawn for my widow, let her get some shots in without pressure. Then I dived onto payload to get it rolling.
8:54 Thats caused by the change spawn option they introduced a while back. When the point is lost you can tp to the new spawn but since it was the third point he just got tp'ed to the same spawn.
As a casual console Andy your splashed in tips for characters really help a lot.

I remember having this happen in plat as the two dps just went perma invis Sombra with a Tracer just blinking around enemies making fun of their aim. All the while once it mattered they would show up just to make the game longer... Was the only game I was glad we lost.

Love the vids flats, i have learned so much about rein from watching your videos. Anywho, the other day i had a tank in comp, bronze 4, who was in voice coms and literally said "oh great another anna. Gg on the loss." We still won with me on mercy and the anna.
Longer matches do give a little more xp but it's not a noticeable amount. Kinda annoying that they're doing this when new players just want to play the game.

9:00 that’s the new teleporting to next spawn feature, it considers that final spawn both the old and the new and since the teams spawn in lines, the teleport with put him in each of those spots 1 by 1 every time he presses the interact key

@9:12 I think it was a camera issue. You saw the camera for Tracer being in the same place as Rein's location and assumed Tracer was in Rein's location (but in reality, the camera hasn't moved to Tracer's actual location just yet).
I just had today a similar afk but with Rein and in the opposite team. I walked around him slowly and he was not even following me with the shield.
Got my game hijacked by a Lucio/Sombra throw duo pretending to be randoms and just trolling the game. The Sombra was actually playing their role at least, Lucio has 800 healing after 2 rounds, had 1 kill and 19 deaths. My only theory out of that game was that the Sombra was a smurf and playing the game to their advantage but the Lucio wasn't and was just hard throwing with their buddy in plat/diamond

Its sad because it happens. Ive been really unlucky, and went on massive loss streaks because of it. And i wish i was ass, or at least boosted or something, because then it would explain why it deranked me so much yet i could solo climb right back up to GM. Granted ranks are inflated ngl, but sometimes the matchmaking just hates me. I think im past my 3 x-10 streaks, but i wouldnt put it past the matchmaking to give me plats in mid GM
