  • Here's my full review of the 2020 Suzuki Ignis 1.2-litre SZ4 AllGrip Hybrid [MHEV - mild hybrid with the 48V system]. At £18,000 it comes with all-wheel drive (4WD) and hybrid, plus a load of safety kit and gadgets. Can a package this affordable and well-specced still be practical and fun to drive? I reveal all in this comprehensive review.

I have same car in blue, although it says its a city car i live in Wales and its perfect for back country roads and adverse weather, very capable little car and is so much fun at sensible speeds! :) Also done motorways and no worries.

      I agree. It’s a good all-rounder. It’s exceptionally good in urban areas.

I also use it on rural, town and motorway
      V impressed
      60 MPG no sweat.
Hybrid version is fab( 2 WD)
      Roomy for a small car.
      Noisy though.
Came from several Honda insight hybrids and this little one of mine is better,
      Better spec,
      Quirky and individual

I have owned a Suzuki Ignis SZ5 All-Grip for the last 6 years, I’ve decided to swop the car for another Suzuki Ignis SZ5 All-Grip. I did test other cars, but for a small city car, with elevated driving position, all grip, & package of LED headlights, SatNav, DAB radio, 60 mpg, eco understated for £19,700, for a 5’5” height, 70 years old, I still think it’s the car for me 🙏

This new Suzuki Ignis is truly beautiful. It is small on the outside and very spacious on the inside. The driving position is quite high and offers good visibility. It's a 4wd for a good price. And then you can drive it with full throttle without going beyond the speed limits. It must be really fun to drive. My compliments for your great review, Shahzad. Happy weekend. Bye 😃👍👍

I use to live in a town of 18,000 people with one or two main streets and tons of nature trails a five minute drive away. That car could do a great job in town that size. Light and lively.

I own this car and it is nice for the city. Small and easy to park, 58 mpg average (manual transmission, non-All Grip version) and road tax for 12 months here in Spain only 50 euros! My only gripes are it is missing the electric folding mirrors which India got on theirs and my biggest negative...going over speed bumps you do feel it! I previously had a VW UP! and that handled bumpy roads much better imo.

Top review again, I'm late to the party but well done 👍 I've got a 1.2 swift and it's doing 52.4mpg on vredestein quatrac all season tyres and no matter what I do! not to be sniffed at 💯

As regards the car and its modest power, its the same as any other small engined car. Ive had loads and never had a problem where I felt it couldnt keep up with traffic. People today dont know how to use gears properly. I could do 50 mph in a Celerio in SECOND gear, and thats how you get the torque and acceleration in low power cars. No good putting it in 4th or 5th at 40 mph and flooring it, you wont get anywhere and its actually harmful to the engine to do that at low revs. Puts too much strain on it. Thats why if you want to speed up quickly, change down a gear. Ive embarrassed drivers in more powerful cars by using the gears properly.

Great point. Which is also why low powered cars can actually be more fun to drive! 👍🏽😃

Bought an Ignis cvt in Nov 2023....mostly like the car. Bit of a shock when I found out the hybrid system doesn't work if it's below 7C. Even at 10C I need to drive at least a half mile before things start working. For a city car, it sure would be nice if the hybrid system worked as soon as you started driving.....usually only taking short trips.....city car.

Could you advise please, what you recommend Suzuki Ignis Dualjet SZ5 2018 - 34000 miles or Nissa Juke Tekna 2019 41450 miles , a difference £2000 I can't make my mind, which car to buy it.

    • @BrownCarGuy

Both brilliant cars. If they both meet your needs and are similarly good condition, save money and choose the cheaper car.
