  • This is the latest Suzuki Ignis Hybrid, a facelift if you will, it's powered by a 1.2 engine and has MHEV system with a larger battery capacity than the previous one, it also ahs a 5 speed manual gearbox.
    Not too much has changed, however it does have a new face that's more in keeping with the Jimny.
    An ultra compact SUV with a quirky style that starts at around £14k.

    Another great review!! This car will sell like hotcakes in Cyprus. It is perfect for young couples who want to have a cheap fun car for doing a little rough driving if needed. It would have been perfect for my wife a few years ago, exploring the mountain roads of cyprus, then popping down to the local village shop where the roads are small.. In fact, I do see many of the older generations in Cyprus and the cars such as the SX4. I love the new design language, not too girly like others of this kind of size. The interior looks great, and I would think our suitcases would fit. Cheers to you both :)

      Thank you Matt, you’ve hit the nail in the head, the perfect vehicle for narrow roads and a bit of adventuring at the same time, a ride height that copes with most tasks, and a hybrid system that really helps the 1.2 - we do love this colour scheme too.

    Another brilliant in-depth review which is invaluable when purchasing a new or used car. Recently bought a used Berlingo Mk3 and the time you take reviewing models is priceless and certainly helped me pick the right car for my family. Keep up the excellent work.😍

    • @OldCodeMonkey
      @OldCodeMonkey Před 3 lety +1

      @@PlanetautoUK After repeated watching of your Rifter and Berlingo reviews, I opted for the Berlingo as they are fundamentally the same car but the Berlingo was cheaper with the 1.2 petrol 7 Seater XL more common than then Rifter 1.2 petrol 7 Seater Long.
      Many may think the 1.2 is a crazy choice for the 7 seater but the 1.2 engine, whilst no hotrod, has plenty go, is willing with enough torque to get the beast moving and has a lighter clutch than the diesel. It's returning over 40mpg in hilly rural driving and is super comfortable. Love the high driving position and space inside. The equipment level is good and its a world away from van based MPVs of old.
      I tried a Vauxhall Combo Life 7 Seater SWB and it feels more nimble but that rear row of seats is tight and your knees are pressed against the second row plus there is no boot space with the 3rd row in place.
      Having watched your reviews, I knew more about the vehicles than the salesmen at each test drive 🤣 Stellar work and the amount of time/effort you pour into the reviews is truly appreciated. 👏

      @@PlanetautoUK Another great review crammed full of facts, figures and opinion covering every key aspect of the car. I have to say it felt a little hurried compared to your normal format. Best way to describe it.... previously I enjoyed a full ploughman’s lunch, today I had a triple ploughman’s sandwich. All the elements were there, I just scoffed it down quicker but probably didn’t savor the experience as much.

    This is certainly not a car I’d be in the market for guys but I watched your thorough review to the very end because they are always so well put together. I must admit, I am a fan of the latest Jimny even though it is way to small for my needs. I must say that for a little car, this one has pretty much everything anyone could ever need and to have the 4x4 is excellent for people who live in places that can often get snow and ice.

    • @PlanetautoUK
      @PlanetautoUK  Před rokem

      Even when we have a base level model, we highlight the features on top of the range, as many choose to upgrade, also if we didn’t cover the majority, we wouldn’t be doing the vehicles justice. Hopefully this goes some way to explaining, thank you Leo and we hope you enjoyed the review.

    I just can't seem to identify the target market for the Ignis especially on higher level trims. Youth will likely want something cheaper and/or sporty with the usual trending brands, family buyers will likely want something much larger so I'd imagine older buyers maybe with motability scheme etc. With that said I have seen previous generation models doing the rounds so what do I know

      @@PlanetautoUK the Panda certainly attracted the budget conscious older buyer or maybe the younger buyer more interested in insurance premiums and super low running costs over performance and image. Newer generation Panda owners may also have been kids in the older generation Pandas of the late 80's and 90's, Ignis wasn't a common sight at any point. I can see many youth opting for the lower specified but mainstream Clio/Fiesta/Corsa family as the safe bet

      Don't be mislead by its exterior size, it's incredibly spacious on the inside. Thanks to the clever design it beats my old Audi A4 when it comes to leg room. You can fit a massive child seat in the rear seat and it is still not too cramped for a mid-sized adult in the front. Boot still compares well enough to a Polo or a Fiesta. It's the perfect family city car.

    What Suzuki and Hyundai are failing to tell customers is that their ‘hybrid’ cars aren’t hybrid. They’re mild hybrid and offer zero distance on electric motor and almost all models barely add any discernible performance or power to the engine - purely a cash grab swapping the battery for a 48 volt one to cope with infotainment and air-con under the guise of a ‘hybrid’ badge.
    When the government define hybrid vehicle as specifically being able to power a motor vehicle ‘x’ number of miles for the new euro emissions standard, you’re screwed.
    You overpaid 1000’s for just a 48v battery and bought it labelled as a hybrid, but WONT be able to sell it labelled as a ‘hybrid’ lol.

    • @PlanetautoUK
      @PlanetautoUK  Před 2 lety

      Many motors are 48v MHEV, even ones that aren’t offer no pure electric range, it’ll be interesting to see what actually sticks, for example all houses from June need to have an EV charger, it’s a strange time.
