  • Prevention and Remediation.
In this second half of of the corrosion education video series, I dive a tiny bit deeper into the causes of this issue, and describe the prevention and remediation techniques the team and I have worked up.
    Enjoy

Awesome. I have this exact problem. My hose actually broke open at the connector. Both of my connectors going into the Aldi radiator has bumps.

Thanks Mark. Have you had any discussions with Nucamp or Alde? Would be nice if they'd initiate some of these ideas in their manufacturing process.

I have tried SEVERAL times to talk to an engineer at all three companies Alde, Truma, and Nucamp, obout this and several other issues over the years, and always have been ignored. The only company that has been willing to work with me, and answer high level technical engineering questions has been Century Chemical. (The manufacturer od the original yellow heat transfer fluid.)

Thanks for figuring this out. I have a project for this summer now... Do you think Nucamp will come up with a service offering to retrofit/update these?

Miracle paint is so expensive. Can I get by with cleaning my connectors ever couple of years when I change the fluid? Thank you for your very helpful information. 🙂

Alde sells a sealer compound made by loctite, for this exact purpose. Its a lot cheaper. I cannot however, vouch for its effectiveness, as we didnt test it.
here is a link to their product...

Can you comment on requirements to drain existing glycol out of the system prior to opening up joints, thereby depleting fluids and injecting air into the system. NuCamp informs customers that replacing Glycol requires a special pump and equipment that's at the dealer/repair shops, and is not a home do-it-yourself project. Do you have guidance on that?

Yes the fluid needs to be drained before work on the connectors can be done. If a person is reasonably handy it is a simple process.
Some owners have actually made their own pumps to do the job, but for me, I just added Better low point drains to the system. You will find that project video on my channel.

I may need to get new rubber hose for my Aldi system. What kind and size of rubber hose do I need? Can I get it at an automotive parts store? Thank you.

The Rubber hose that Alde uses is made of EPDM.
It's very common, and can be founs at many hardware and automotive stiores.
