I’m a simple person; I see Aristotle and Dante Discover the Secrets of the Universe in the thumbnail and I click tHAT BOOK IS SO GOOD
love it sm
The sequel, Aristotle and Dante Dive into the Waters of the World is even better. One of the best queer books I've ever read next to The Song of Achilles and The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo.
My bisexual heart skipped a beat at this notification😭❤️
hehehehe
A book I rarely see mentioned on BookTube is "Annie on my Mind" by Nancy Garden. A beautiful sapphic coming-of-age romance.
oooooooh adding to TBR!
Gay publications and pornography are the biggest evidence of moral deterioration in the world and the young generation is struggling in this impasse. God created two types of people, male or female, no other human being can be considered, these publications should be banned and people should be educated with attention and love as children. People who lack interest and love tend to change gender.
Amazing book.
STOP- the Percy Jackson and TSOA call out... too accurate
i don’t pull punches
I'm gonna watch this on 0.5 speed so it lasts longer
HAHAHAHA
Sally this hairstyle is so cute fyi like I’m adding it to my list of hairstyle to try RN
AH thank u bestie gorl
i remember reading aristoteles and dante as a undercover queer teen CRYING so f much and thinking "well that's because i love love and it hurts to read it and besides i'm such a good ally, i'm educating myself"... honey no... *you* are queer. it took me a while but here i am
btw "i'd give you the sun" is one of the best books EVER witten 10/10 just like this video
we’ve all been there
OMG I RELATEEE❤
i really appreciate what you said about labels and the fact that you don't have to fit into a box that society made to try to understand queerness :) i've always known i'm queer but none of the labels ever felt right for me, sometimes it's hard when people don't understand that and think i'm questioning or not really apart of the LGBTQ+. and thank you for the video, looking forward to reading some of these!
label free lifeeeeee
as always when talking about books by and about queer people, i can’t recommend at swim, two boys by jamie o’neill enough. set during the easter rising in dublin in 1916, with a small appearance from james connolly for the socialist girlies in the audience, it’s some of the most beautiful and heartbreaking writing i’ve ever come across. there’s this one bit where one character teases the other and asks “how do u know a fella likes u?” and to show how u know, he holds a blade of grass under the other guy’s chin and the first guy says, “u do this and they turn red” and of course the other guy blushes because of course they have a crush on each other… I think the image of that will stay with me for the rest of my life!
“If tomorrow doesn’t come” is literally the best book about mental health, sapphic relationships and apocalypse
the title the content that i know is about to be delivered the hair SLAYYYYYY SALLY OMG
i can't watch it rn though 😭😭😭😭😭not fair that i have to give an exam tomorrow when i could be watching sally thames on youtube
STUDY FOR EXAM WATCH LATER!
I cannot tell you how much I've wanted this!!! Also, pls do queer shows/movies or shows/movies w a queer couple. (Hopefully a sappho couple w a happy ending 😭🤌)
love that idea!
"The Prince & The Dressmaker" is a graphic novel. I'm waiting til the end of the week to read it cause I ordered it for my birthday and it arrived while I was away for college. So looking forward to that! But while it's not your conventional queer book per say; with a male and female pairing and all, it still tackles the story of a boy who loves to wear dresses and a girl who can do God's work and deliver. As I relate a lot to the prince's situation, I was immediately drawn to the premise and his struggles with hiding who he truly is. Plus, it has beautiful art and my artist heart just says YES! Full stop. Go get that book! We can talk about it together! ^v^
Queer book that I don't see talked about enough on booktube: The Stars and the Blackness Between Them by Junauda Petrus. This book is unbelievable gorgeous. It's about the relationship between these two girls, one who is from Trinidad and moves to Minneapolis to live with her dad and one who is from Minneapolis but gets diagnosed with a terminal illness. These two just have such a beautiful relationship with each other but also with themselves and it explores so many things within identity, not just queerness. Family, cultural identity, familial history, and there's also a touch of magical realism in there giving this story that extra layer of astounding beauty. More people need to read this, I won't ever stop recommending it.
1000% believe the Jo March queer theory
it’s simply fact at this point
your hairdo is so cute, that copy of audio lordes essays is immaculate, this video has something for everyone! you've done it again
ily bestie 🥹💗
I finished reading Aristotle and Dante, like, an hour ago. LOL. It's my new favorite. Ever. Becky Chamber's Monk and Robot books have a non binary main character and I really liked both of those books. Also, The Price of Salt is a sapphic book that is beautiful and classic. xoxo
omg i’m getting so many good recs thank you!!!
"i never vibe with any labels." im the same!I've tried all mspec ones in the past and none fit me even though i fit them (ik it doesn't make a lot of sense lol) so now i just use queer and irl i'm always like, have a fun time figuring me out
YES
i just know that Jo is ace. when I read the book in January, the entire time i was thinking how awesome would it be if Louisa had the vocabulary and the liberty to rewrite this book without any restraints. it would've been gay as heck
literally
I totally agree, an ace Jo makes so much sense and I'd never thought of it before watching this video!
I loved Jo, it made me so confused seeing my peers wish she’d get into a relationship. Jo being content with herself was a welcome little surprise for me, and honestly very inspiring
The thing you said about gray areas and not fitting in boxes reminded me of Dean Craig from the show Community. He said it himself, when some higher-ups wanted to use him for Rainbow Marketing, "Gay doesn't begin to describe it". Yes, he's into guys, yes he enjoys dressing in extravagant feminine things. But he doesn't want to be put in a box, prefers to go labeless, and stood up for himself when he was tired of just being The Gay Dean used for promotion. For the kind of show it is, it's actually pretty good with its rep.
Also, I have 4 books I'd rec, 2 YA, and 2 Adult.
YA: Of Fire & Stars, and How To Make A Wish. Both are Sapphic stories, but OF&S is fantasy, while HTMAW is more reality-based while I think the author based it off her experience with her neglectful mother?
Adult: Monster of Elendhaven, and Silk & Steel. Both are Achillean stories. MoE actually has more serious and grimy darker Black Butler vibes, to me. And the Silk & Steel series, though does go overboard with the darker content (Like, more than GoT), it's like if Skyrim and Fallout had a baby.
for queer joy please also read i kissed shara wheeler 😭😭that book brings so much joy to my heart 'cause literally all characters are queer and it just celebrates queerness in every way. plus the characters ahhh the characters
funny you should say that….. look out for a video dropping today 😈
lol, im reading that book rn, just started today !
Recommendation:
"Last Night at the Telegraph Club" by Malinda Lo. My sister said it was really good and now I'm reading it for myself! I like it so far.
Love your take on Little Women (also a favorite of mine). I hate it when GROWN WOMEN are like "ugh why aren't Laurie and Jo together, they're the perfect couple, blah blah blah" my lady it's because she said NO! And the book respects that in a way that's incredibly progressive for 1870-whatever, and you people are the ones who are always saying the friend zone doesn't exist! Just because your 12 year old ass was in love with Laurie doesn't mean Jo has any obligation to accept him! Jo March is NOT you!
I RAN when i got the notification
look we queers move QUICK
Wtf, i found out i'm queer like this year, and I was a total Percy Jackson stan back in the day
What's going on?😂
i’m onto you
Nico's put a spell on you.
Ooookay, we‘re twinning on „I’ll give you the sun“ best book 🥹
' On earth we're briefly gorgeous' is so beautiful and poetic I loved it
that one wasn’t for me but i know so many ppl loved it thanks for sharing!!
This is the first video I've seen of yours, and you seem so fun! Love your vibe. Thanks for some new recommendations :)
WELCOME!!!
if you wanna read some queer poetry - marina tsvetayeva (who was bi) has a whole cycle of poetry dedicated to her lover :)
ahh thanks for the rec!
Aristotle and Dante have such a special place in my heart
thanks uncle rick
i owe it all to Him
happy pride!! i HIGHLY recommend Plain Bad Heroines, it’s a long sapphic horror and one of my faves!!
OOOOOOOH adding to my list!
The joy this title brought immediately
EXACTLY
imagine how i felt MAKING it
I read heart stopper and I am not obsessed! ( Heart Stopper was actually the first queer thing ive read) Also another queer book I would recommend is The Red Scrolls of Magic - a romantic fantasy with forbidden love about two gay men is a relationship trying to stop a cult...-
This hair style is so cute!
ah thank you sm!!
I know you read this series, but for those who haven’t, The Raven Cycle series is so good :)
On Earth We’re Briefly Gorgeous and any other pieces of Ocean Vuong’s work is absolutely incredible. He manages to write about being queer so beautifully !
not my personal fav but i know so many ppl loved it so i’m glad you dropped it here!
I typed 'queer booktube' into YT and there you were! Love the vibes Sally, instant sub🌈 ❤
To throw my recommendation into the mix although I know its popular- 'Lie with me' by Phillippe Besson. Heart-wrenching, poetic... its about a secret but fiercely passionate love affair between two teenage boys in the 1980s. That queer teen yearning is chefs-kiss. Had me full sobbing:')
OOH Thank you for the rec
Almost had a heart attack trying to click on this video as fast as I can when I saw the title 😭🌈✨
my one mission in life is to serve the gays

eeeepp!! such a cutie video! I LOVE I'll give you the sun!! Call Me By Your Name is also one of my faves, especially in the summer :)
ahhh yes the vibes in that one >>
i highly recommend ask the passengers by a.s king for the ya babies, it's very underrated, although i admit it's not a perfect book, still warms my heart when i think about the time i was reading it, it has some sad and triggering scenes, but it gets happier... it's about a girl who likes girls discovering that she likes girls❤ i also recommend we are okay by nina lacour, this is for the sad girl besties, it has found family trope
yesss we are okay!!
One of my favorite LGBTQ plus book is called shattered glass by AC Cat
13:00
As a Greek person I can give an answer lol
It's Pà- tro-clos (the emphasis is on the first syllabus)
love how joyful this video is - talking about queer books brings a smile to my face too! for recommendations if you're into fantasy-type books with a historical setting, A Marvellous Light by Freya Marske had a fantastic queer romance, and for nonfiction Hola Papi: How to Come Out in a Walmart Parking Lot and Other Life Lessons by John Paul Brammer is an essay collection with stories all about the author's life as a gay man, covering lots of serious topics but he can also be really funny at times too.
thanks for the recs!
okay unpopular opinion ig but I'd say ari and dante sequel actually tainted my memories of the book 'cause that one's just...not the vibe. i wish i hadn't read it lol😭😭
"do some self reflection come back to me later" LMFOAOAOOA
You nailed this. I love all of these books 🥹❤️
Love all these recs so much omg 🤩💗 my favourite queer book is on a sunbeam by Tillie Walden, it’s a graphic novel that’s free to read online (like heartstopper!) about sapphic lost loves and found family in space, also cults and restoring gorgeous old buildings. It sounds chaotic but is a masterpiece and doesn’t have a single cis man in it!! Cause sometimes you just don’t need them 😌🏳️🌈✨
i want to get to that one so badly!
I love u and ur vibesss
ilysm!!!
Thank you Uncle Rick 😂🤣😂🤣
truly i owe him everythinf
I love this book called “Totally Joe” and it was one of the first LGBTQ books I read :)
Thank you for sharing your recommendations! I have a book recommendation for you. Eddie & Alan is written by black gay author Anthony Amiewalan. It sheds light on the complexities of relationships between men, the fluidity of sexuality, and what happens when the lines are blurred.
Ah yes, the great love story of Achilles and.. Patrick. Loved that, and love this video.❤️ Subscribed!
thank you so much!
I haven't read little women since I was like 14, catch me about to re-read it immediately so I can pickup on the queerness
Oh nice list! If I may add my recent favourite queer reads by Nigerian authors specifically (I'm in a bit of a Nigerian reading phase): Akwaeke Emezi's Pet and Bitter (both YA) and The Death of Vivek Oji (adult fiction), and Eloghasa Osunde's Vagabonds!, and Francesca Ekwuyasi's Butter Honey Pig Bread (both of these are adult fiction as well, you might want to have a look at trigger warnings before reading). x
a bunch of these are in my list!!
I’m reading into the dreamhouse rn… it’s great
Hello, I am from the future and I would like to say you are proud of who you are

AH SEKI!! I’m so glad it brought you joy! I feel like you’d LOVE sister outsider
Just got the audiobook of Power Of The Dog from my library since I absolutely LOVED the movie. Has anyone read it?
We’ll see if it was just Benedict Cumberbatch or the story itself that truly gripped me.
just wanted to say thank you for this video 💖
thank you for being here!!
OMG ILL GIVE YOU THE SUN IS SO (@^$(@^#(&!, I LOVE IT!
LIKE HOW THEY DESCRIBE ART THROUGH THE BOOK AHHHHHHH
❤️🩹
I love how you talked about labels, it made me feel very understood as someone who doesn‘t feel the need to define myself in such a definitive way just yet
ALSO if y‘all want a really REALLY steamy queer romance, I‘d highly recommend Party Favors by Erin McLellan. It‘s f/f online besties to lovers 💛
RUNNING TO THE BOOKSTORE 🏃♀️
I love these recommendations!!
Starting with I’ll give you the Sun. Okay 👍🏾
Aristotle and Dante has an extremely transphobic plot device and the author himself has expressed transphobic views, it makes me sad to see it on so many Queer YA recommendation lists. If I read that while coming to terms with my own gender identity, it would have made me feel so isolated from my own community.
I heard about this after making the video, and wish I had known before hand. I appreciate your comment and am so sorry it was on this list. I refrain from recommending it now that I know about the issue.
jo march queer icon, end of story.
The author of Aristote and Dante is transophobic so not the idea book for pride monde
i didn’t know that! definitely don’t agree with transphobia!
Where is song of Achilles tho?
i talked all about it!!
LGBT Service Pack 1
Jesus is king
I read Song of Achilles a few months ago and feel the same as you. It was life changing and started me down a path of reading so much gay fiction that culminated with Heartstopper!!! ❤🧡💛💚💙🤎
