Evelyn Hugo literally changed my life. I don’t even know how to describe what changed but I just feel like a change for the better happened after I read it. I reached out to Taylor Jenkins Reid and she wrote out what she thinks Evelyn’s autograph would look like for me to get as a tattoo. I can’t wait for my 18th birthday in August so I can get it done!
That's awesome 😎. What a great idea for a tattoo! Best of luck
Wow! This is such a beautiful sentiment and a gorgeous tattoo idea!
Omg! That's so cool 🥺🥺🥺
im reading this book right now and I'm so excited to finish it and enjoy it. I love your tattoo idea, can't wait till you get it
wait???? Omg but I heard that it‘s sad and I can‘t take sad books

Since you said you're looking to read more from trans authors writing about trans characters, you might enjoy Cemetery Boys by Aiden Thomas.
It's urban fantasy so it has a lot of plot on top of having great characters.
I second this!!’ Cemetery boys was one of my faves of last year!
I absolutely loved cemetery boys
The only way I can really celebrate is reading because my parents are really homophobic, so thanks for the list!
the way you look at jake melts my heart
Same!
SAME
I do too! I also really like your username and picture! I'm a big fan of Twenty One Pilots too!
The House in the Cerulean Sea reignited my love for books after such a long reading slump, it was just so beautiful. Thank you for another great video Emma!
sameeee
If anyone is looking for an aro and ace book where the main character is figureing out that she Ace and aro in college , it also has a kinda enemies to lovers lesbian romance with 2 of the side characters, i believe it write by the smae author as heartstopper, I'm currently reading it and I quite like it :)
Edit: I forgot to put the name of the book lol
Its call "loveless"
Yesss I love loveless and Alice Osseman other novels
Yessssss, I read that! It was so good!
I'm prepping my June Pride TBR and now my list is definitely getting longer lol. Thanks for the recommendations, I'm so looking forward to reading all of these amazing books!!
12:04 okay thank you! i almost got banned by one of your moderators on your dregs facebook group for saying that its not right for saying Alec is gay is a spoiler, and they were being so heated and aggressive for saying that it is a spoiler. Identity isnt a plot twist it just seems so wrong to say that.
You are so right 🌈🙂😃
omg i’m in love with your makeup! also yes give me all the book recommendations even though i most definitely do not have time to read them because of exams... but hey reading is much more fun than studying anyway
thank you so much for putting this list of recs together, happy happy pride!!!
We love a special guest!!!! 🥰 you and Jake are adorable
YAAYYYY I HAVE WAITED FOR THIS SINCE I CAM OUT YAYYY❤️❤️🥺🥺🏳🌈🏳🌈🏳🌈and heartstopper's adaptation is the BEST thing I have heard in my entire life ❤️❤️🥺🥺😭😭
Emma, can you please review Famous Anus and Guy Branum’s book, My Life as a Goddess. :D
omg you've also read famous anus its one of my fav books
@@oletamessineo5732 the name is amazing lol
I finished One Last Stop about a week ago and it was so so so much fun. I think I loved the characters even more than the ones in Red White & Royal Blue. it was also one of my favorite depictions of NYC and one of the few that have felt more like the way I experience it (along with Elizabeth Acevedo’s portrayals - laced with community and found family love). I hope you enjoy it and have an amazing time with it!! 💗
Coming from someone who as a RWRB tattoo something people might want to know is that there is a scene where the characters are outted against their will so if that is something that might be upsetting to you it’s something to keep in mind. Happy pride 2021 everyone. ❤️🧡💛💚💙💜
Video from Emma!!! Glad to see you back !
I love this!! 💜 I'm so glad you are back🥺
evelyn hugo was such an important book for my journey with my sexuality, so it made me incredibly happy to hear how much it impacted you as well. I would have never read that book if it wasn't for you recommendation 2 years ago, I truly can't thank you enough.
so many of these books are on my tbr, i can’t wait to get to read them 😩
As a 2nd gen Chinese American Last night at the telegraph club sounds so interesting!
it's SO GOOD i loved it
Emma your eye makeup is amazing and so festive for Pride Month!!!!! My TBR just got bigger.
yessss i’m so excited for pride month!!
Hi Emma! 😃 This year had a huge number of LGBT+ YA book releases, and I'd love if you could do a video talking about the majority of those releases, it'd be very helpful!
SO MANY great recs! also i finished Heartstopper v4 last night and LOVED IT! i think you’ll enjoy it too, as i thought it was a step up from v3!
the house in the cerulean sea is my current read! loving it so far and i know it will end up becoming one of my all time faves:)
I loved Red, White, and Royal Blue haha I listened to the audiobook and once I finished it, I listened to it again 😅
heartstopper owns me!! Nick And Charlie have my heart!!! they are so adorable and warm and fuzzy and I just love them!!! Also...Volume 4 made me sob like a kid...:)))
QUEEN!! I love your makeup so much!
I got to read Casey McQuiston's new book One Last Stop, it was so good and definitely a step up from even Red White and Royal Blue in my opinion.
Saying that the sexy stuff in Red White and Royal Blue is "fade to black" actually makes me more likely to pick it up. Romance makes me uncomfortable, but every time someone describes the plot and characters of a romance book, I want to pick it up. Then I find myself disappointed cause I just can't relate to the characters' feelings of attraction for each other, and that ends up being half the book. Having a strong plot other than the romance can make up for it, and allow me to still enjoy it. If I can find it once the library fully reopens, I'm gonna take a chance and see what all the hype is about.
Yessss u look amazing emmma! ✨
Hi Emma! As a bookseller, this gave me some great recommendations to give to my customers--Thank you! I recently read This Is How You Lose the Time War by Max Gladstone and Amar El-Mohtar which was fantastic and absolutely ripped my heart out. I've been struggling to find more WLW books because the market seems saturated with MLM (which are still very important stories to tell!) right now, but I want to recommend more books to my customers and read more books that feature queer women at the forefront of the novel. I highly suggest anyone read this little novella if you're into Science Fiction or speculative fiction, time travel, and prose told in letter format. The love that Blue and Red have for each others as rival agents and women struggling to find their true home across threads of time made me weep like a baby, it was so touching and just gorgeous to read!
i HIGHLY recommend i wish you all the best, the brutal truth, the music and the mirror and she’s my ride home!! they all have a special place in my heart. i’m trying to find more gay books that don’t fetishize gay relationships
Red, White and Royal Blue is one of my absolute fave book of all time.. I loved that book so much, from start to end..it was so funny and fluffy and cute. The Pardon Turkey scene made me cry with laughter😂😂❤️🔥🤘🏻
This is my first pride I’m both scared and beyond excited 🏳️🌈❤️
for anyone who is really into fantasy, and wants a good teen book with no “spice”, i definitely recommend carry on by rainbow rowell. It includes a lot of coming to terms with the 2 main characters’ sexualities, and its a really good enemies to lovers. It’s slow-paced, but keeps you on your toes, and it has multiple really good plot twists. It’s not completely focused on the romance aspect, but i personally, as a fantasy nerd loved this book and would kill to read it again for the first time. 5 star read dor sure. 🙌
Finally I was waiting for this oneee
Congrats on your first out pride! I’ve always loved watching your LGBT+ rec videos
Just so you know: TJ Klune has gotten some criticism recently because it turns out he based House on the Cerulean Sea on the horrible things that happened to indigenous people in residential schools
I ALMOST read all of these! Great recs! 🏳️🌈💖
I just finished The house in the Cerulean sea yesterday. I loved it soooo much.
I haven’t read many LGBTQ books but oh my god The Black Flamingo was beautiful 😍 great viddy xx
It's the "this book still seems a little fruity" for me, I could not stop laughing after that.
i recommend felix ever after & the stars and the blackness between them! both are some of my favorites ever
Off topic, but your hairstyle looks fantastic! Is that grey underneath?
On topic: I'm so ready for pride month this year! 🥰 will definitely pick up a few of these recommendations as well
YAY jake is back! loved this video, will be reading some of these soon!
I love a good coming out story, but I love stories where they normalize it, and the character doesn't have to come out, just because everyone already knows it. I might have come out as Asexual, but my mom knew I liked girls when I was five and my best friend knew it when we first met. I didn't really come out, and I love to read about characters who don't have to come out. Not to mention, no one should have to come out anyways. It should be normalized more.
14:32 You can tell how much Emma loves Jake just by the way she is looking at him.
Omg just now my dad after watching jodie and Hailey's video was like it's enough for this month....I'm not ready to spend on Amazon again 😂....and now when he crossed behind me he was like " omg its Emma this time? There's no dbt that u r gonna have ur cart filled. "😂😂😂
Love you Emma ❤️❤️
It was so fitting because I was looking for new book recommendations with LGBTQ+ rep.
Yes yes yes!!! I always need more books
The audiobook for Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo is amazing!!!
I have loads of lgbtq books on my tbr for this month not even intending for it be for pride! So excited to read them!
Hii... Thank you because you motivated me to open my booktube channel ..Thank you and always be this awesome.. Have a great day Emma ♡♡
Heartstopper is pretty good but my absolute favourite Alice Oseman book is Loveless. Its about a girl coming to terms with the fact she's ace aro whilst at university, i really like how it presents platonic relationships as strong and intense as romantic relationships. Asexual and Aromantic representation is very few and far between and this book represents someone who is Asexual Alloromantic, someone who is Aromantic Allosexual and someone who is Asexual Aromantic, which I really appreciate. It also has a side WLW couple. This book really helped me come to terms with my own Asexuality and Aromanticism and I would 100% recommend. I'm also pretty sure that Alice Oseman is ace aro so the ownvoices representation is nice.
Amazing books with Black trans rep would be Pet by Akwaeke Emezi and Felix Ever After by Kacen Callender. I loved them both so much! I need to read Last Night at the Telegraph Club and The House in the Cerulean Sea. I adored The Black Flamingo, The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo and Clap When You Land so much too
reading "the seven husbands of Evelyn Hugo" and it is a super great novel! a must read!
We need more Jake&Emma content 💜
Yesssss so excited for this!! 🌈💚✨
I never watched your videos before but I loved this! Just subbed and can’t wait to watch more. You seem lovely and congrats on being out from a fellow bisexual! I’m not there yet but hopefully soon :)
If you haven’t read Girl, Serpent, Thorn by Melissa Bashardoust, you should! It was a really great book and on top of the queer rep, it has Persian rep, which I have looked for for years. I loved it so much.
1 beautiful book about a transgender character is "the unexpected gift" by Ajay K Pandey.....It shows the struggle of transgender people in the society and how people treat them. It shows that to a child, his mother doesn't have to be the person who gave birth to him, but that it can be anyone who can shower immense love for him and raise him to be a wonderful person.......
I as an Avatar Franchise stan I am going to say some of my favorites are the Kyoshi novels and the Legend of Korra comics.
Also fun fact Legend of Korra changed cartoons with lgbtq+ main characters. Originally Nickelodeon bashed the idea of Korra being bi and refused to Greenlight the last few episodes online or have a timeslot at 12 am. Only years later for the network to have Korra openly out for pride month last year.
But Korra paved the way for other kids cartoons to have same sex relationships and have romance displayed openly on screen.
Congratulations for coming out! I'm an Asexual Homoromantic. I've always been out with liking girls, but I only recently came to terms with being Asexual too.
So proud of you❤️🧡💛💚💙💜
Congratulations 🎊 🎉❤ I’m so happy for you and thank youuu!
Wait for heartstopper 4! There’s more conflictttt
Always love your Videos about LGBTQ+ Books! 🤗 My favorite LGBTQ+ book has been "The song of Achilles" for a long time now. It is written beyond beautiful and breaks your heart, but in the best way. Would love to hear your review on it. :)
Loveless by Alice Oseman!!!!!! The main character is struggling with whether she's asexual and aromatic (the first time I read about it and I felt so represented🥺) but there's also multiple gay/bi/pan characters and it's just so good, would definitely recommend!!
Thank you for these recommendations
I read the seven husbands of Evelyn Hugo early last year and I absolutely loved it. I also listened to the audiobook of red white and royal blue as well last year, I adored that book didn’t like the narrator voice as much but still such a good book
If you like time travel, I'd recommend "The Spanish Pearl" (& its sequel, "The Crown of Valencia") by Catherine Friend
The way that emma proudly nods to every point jake makes🥺
Last night at the telegraph club was sooo good 😭😭
felix ever after and wish you all the best are two amazing books that feature trans characters!
Ben from IWYATB is non-bianry not trans
If you want a good queer representation book I recommend the Once & Future duology
I recommend:
1) The Space Between Worlds by Micaiah Johnson (Sci-fi/Bisexual MC/Trigger warning: past domestic abuse)
2) I'll Be The One by Lyla Lee (Contemporary/Bisexual MC)
3) Freshwater by Akwaeke Emezi (Non-binary MC)
4) The Death of Vivek Oji (Non-binary MC)
5) An Unkindness of Ghosts by River Solomon (Genderfluid MC)
I see someone already recommended Cemetery Boys so, second that.
You are incredible and I am so proud of you! ❤💜💙
Please check out Grief Keeper by Alexandra Villasante! I work at a bookstore and I recommend it to anyone who is looking for a good queer book! A few words to describe it: Lesbian, dystopian, refugee. Seriously one of my favorites!!
LOVE these recs!
red white and royal blue, heart stopper, never kiss your roommate (these are the ones i might buy)
i love all of these books so much !!
Thanks for the video. I'm really interested in Never Kiss your Roommate
If you want a lgbt themed graphic novel that has plenty of conflict and a strong plot, please pick up Laura Dean Keeps Breaking Up With Me. I have read it to the point it's started falling apart.
So, The Mortal Instruments from the Shadowhunter chronicles. Red Queen isn't completely about LGBTQ+ but it has a few people who are LGBTQ+. At the same time, Red Queen is a super "I don't wanna put it down" fantasy novel series.
Your style and Jake’s 🤌
I just got a book the first in a series called boyfriend material by Alexis Hall it's a gay fake dating and romance trope kind of book
Woooww, what a nice video!!😍😍❤️
Love it🥰
everything about this makes me so happy 🥰🥰🥰
i love ur energy!
awww rwrb
I don't read enough lgbtq+ books so this video is perfect!!
Cannot recommend Sophie Gonzalez enough!! Only Mostly Devastated is a gay Grease retelling & Perfect on Paper just came out & is super bi! 🏳️🌈
I’m very interested in ‘Never kiss your Roommate’ soo...
I pre ordered it...
UPDATE SPOILE FREE: I absolutely adored this book. Noelle is someone who I didn’t expect to be. Seth was my fav he is mischievous and very nerdy but the good type of nerdy yk. I really liked it to the point I read it under 3 hours-
I was very excited to read it and if you want to support pride month you should totally support the author by getting Never kiss your roommate.❤️👊🏻
But I was quite disappointed that it didn’t come with the 4 cards
Hey that’s awesome! You’ll have to let me know how to you like it!
@@emmmabooks totally will❤️
I’m really really interested in the seven husbands of Evelyn Hugo (like for ages) but English is not my first language and I’m scared of missing somethings out because of it. Unfortunately it hasn’t been translated in German yet.
So I would like to ask if the writing of the book is rather advanced? My English Level is a good B2 level and I’ve read a lot english Books but they’re mostly YA, so I’m not very sure about Evelyn.
thank you so much for letting us know about queer books where they aren’t the plot!!!
So fab like always🤗 I wish I could find the courage to dress as bravely as you do
