- Today we pay tribute to an aircraft that served TURKISH AIRLIINES very well for over a quarter century. In 1993-94 Turkish took delivery of its first 3 Airbus A340-300s TC-JDJ (İstanbul), TC-JDK (Diyarbakır) and TC-JDL (Ankara).
In 1996 JustPlanes was invited to Istanbul to film in the cockpit of TC-JDK and TC-JDL on a roundtrip from Istanbul to New York JFK. This old memory is now available for just $15 in our Download Store

Today Turkish has a large fleet of long haul pax and cargo aircraft totally 65 Airbus A330s and 38 Boeing 777s! It also has 25 Airbus A350s and 25 Boeing 787s on order.
JustPlanes has cockpit films on both the A330 and 777 :

I flew in one of those on a short-haul flight between Istanbul and Ankara. One of the quietest cabins I've ever been in as far as I remember. What a shame to see it go, along with Ataturk airport.
Nice! It's a shame it's fading away now.
Nice video with the old Airplanes
Those 5 APUs is absolutely done a fine job. Thank you for the hard work!
It's sad to see you go because we will never see any more APU-powered planes.
thankfully LH, LX and SK will keep their for many years to come
Lol.😂
1 apu and 4 hair dryers*
The 500 and 600 engines were a bit more substantial.
özledik be
magnificent jets

What I remember about the retirement of A340s of Turkish Airlines is... is how quite it was. During the rise of Turkish Airlines, the remaining 3 A340s were grounded right after TC-JDM's last flight. It was a silent retirement. We all knew what was about to happen, what we were about to do. Did we have any doubts, any private traitorous thoughts? Perhaps but no one said a word. Not on the flight to Istanbul, not when the news about the A340 retirement came down and not when we marched to deliver the A340s to its new customer. Not a word.
Lol it fits really well
never knew they had an A340...wow!!...sweet landing
They had multiple Ones! The first one in this video is called Isparta and the one taking off with the new Livery, Mersin !
@@emrefifty5281 strange enough when i went on Wikipedia, they say nothing of the A340 in their fleet en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Turkish_Airlines#Fleet
@@omarijoseph3189 that's really odd that they are not listed.
@@omarijoseph3189 they don’t exist anzymore they selled them
perfect greaser landing.
I had flown in Isparta once from new york to istanbul🙂
How do aircraft companies choose how many wheels the plane should have?
The Triple 7-300’s are replacing the A340 fleet and it’s sad to see them go.
Ethan Campbell the 777 is replacing everything from the A340 and MD-11 to the 747 and possibly even the A380 with the 777X series
@@sashingopaul3111777 is the swiss army knife of planes a very impressive piece of engineering its sad to see planes like 747 or a340 is faded away tho
there is a a340 im not sure if it has been retired but it flew from karachi to istanbul in 2021
Relatively small plane with 4 engines. Is it more security with more engines?
nice engine sound as usually JP super what type is that
Rolls Royce trent 700
Fantastic engine
Anas Hamdan
Engine? You mean hair dryer
Anas Hamdan that’s not the Trent 700, those are only applied to the A330. The A340-200 and -300 don’t even use rolls Royce engines, they’re CFM. Specifically they’re CFM56-5C
I just made the history fleet of their A340.
I was expecting that this is the fleet history of Turkish Airlines A340-300. But it wasn't.
@ 0:14 ..that was very greasy
Isparta tc jdk tail number ıt's the oldest aircraft in turkish airlines also
I am from ısparta the cıty is my hometown
Now this aircraft is a restaurant opposite side of Edremit airport
Lan olum ikinizde turksunuz niye yabanci konusuyonuz agahausnunde2ddcwd
TC-JDK Balıkesir restaurant
Bye
A340 is one of the ugliest aircraft imho. Proportions are wrong.
It's an absolute beauty
Couldnt disagree more, opinions
Man the a340-200 is ugly
Those engines make it look worse
Anderson Rodriguez you mean hair dryers only the 500 and 600 have engines.
