Great video! I find myself coming back to this from time time for reference. Ceramics can be very tricky and this is a nice sanity check on stubborn blades.
Glad it was helpful!
Thanks Bonnie!
You are so welcome
Nice job!!! You help me a lot!!! A hug from Argentina
Gracias
Muito obrigado pela informação.
Foi de muito ajuda.
💖
Much as gracias.
it would be great to be able to sharpen these, I will give it a try! One question though, what about the fact that the blade is sharpened on a flat stone, it will not have a hollow grind any more. Thanks!
Good question. Let me research that. More often than not a blade is chipped so they have to be replaced rather than sharpened. Also, I sharpen them every other time since ceramic does not wear like steel.
🙏Thank you
You are so welcome
Hopefully I get the same consistent results.
Did I say mine was consistent? Lol! Seriously, I don’t get a lot of complaints.
I'm a new bee and some say sharpen on convex rubber block and some say flat. do you sharpen both bottom and top pieces of clipper blade and are both done on flat or convex? Thank You Great video.
On clipper blades, the normal clipper blades should be convex and sharpened on a cone shape plate. The adjustable blades comb would be best sharpened on a flat plate but it works fine if you sharpen on the outside edge of a cone shaped plate. Does that answer your question.
Will these same songs work for steel blades and ceramic coated blades?
I think country music songs for steel blades and rap for the ceramic coated blades. LOL
Please what material can be used to sharpen all different types of blade?
This diamond hone is only for ceramic blades. You must use a professional clipper hone with grit for other blades.
did what you said exactly and my cutting ceramic blade now doesnt cut.
Did you sharpen the metal blade? How did you sharpen the other blade? Was the tension right? Was the set back right? When was your clipper last serviced? The ceramic cutter is only a minor part of the clipper blade working.
@@BonikaShears i sharpened the ceramic blade set back , tension all seems correct . , checked again , checked again all correct except not cutting..ill buy a new ceramic blade no problem.
@@BonikaShears hi apologise as i said i was going to buy a blade cheap enough, but thought i would try one last time setting blade, its now working , i think it was the set back . thks.
What are the types of clipper blade?
All clipper blades? I guess metal or ceramic is the answer.
What we use to sharpening ceramic blade
Have you done a video on 5-n-1? If not could you? I have no experience with them at all.
Yes, I haven’t posted it yet. I think the edge pro may have one. Basically you are better off just replacing the cutter or at least have back-up cutters in case you have to replace it. The edge pro also sells these. Tell them I sent you.
hello im EloyTheBarber I want to learn how to sharpen my own blades and maybe Later on my shears . I have 4 water stones I had for yrs I had used it at first it worked then it didn't so I put the stones away in storage I have not used them for about 3yrs. I also used a grinder after awhile blades not cutting the same. so after 2 yrs I decided To go at it again . I usually have my blades sharpen every 6 months all of them . over 30 blades lol. so what can you tell to use to sharpen my own blades ? and what machine or stone will be the best for the $ that I can so I can sharpen my blades every 2-3 months to keep them sharp ? ( I just found you and taking my time learning to watch you and others on sharpening so far I find the best way is the the big red machine that come over $1200 for you have it you announced it on your video. very high for me . but I can see myself later in time investing in one to do my own and other barbershops and animal groomers too obviously for $ to pay off the machine lol. hope you can help thank you.....
I would suggest you watch this video czcams.com/video/tDMcXZXx0Ws/video.html and you will understand why sharpening on stones will only work a few times. You have to buy a full fledged machine designed for the hollow ground on the blades. The ShopPay on our website and PayPal Credit are two ways to make payments for the equipment.
Don't you sharpen the steel side also? or is that not needed on ceramics?
Of course. That’s done the traditional way on the clipper hone,
Will it do the same for normal metal blades
No. No and no. This method will eventually remove the hollow. Use a professional clipper blade sharpening machine designed to create the slight hollow in the blade.
What sheet do you use to wrap the ceramic that admin is secreting? Can you tell me the secret device?
I have no clue to what you are asking.
🤣🤣 I'm sorry to laugh at the language barrier but 🤷🏼♂️
Excuse me could I know what number of coated disc grit
240
What about the comb.
That’s sharpened on the clipper hone machine.
Interesting. I remember seeing a video a year or two ago of a guy trying to sharpen a ceramic knife and saying it was too brittle and it wasn't really possible. Maybe his technique was just off.
I used to sell those knives and I would tell people the same thing.
A knife is one thing, a blade is another.
Where did you get the equipment from I’m looking to purchase myself
Www.Bonika.com
What blade beter metall or ceramic work longer?
Ceramic will keep its edge longer but is brittle and will chip. So the longevity can be the same depending on how careful you are with your clippers.
@@BonikaShears Sharpening requires 600 grid
What the grits you use
It's DMT fine and coarse
Can you sharpen metal blades work diamond?
No. Watch my video here and you will see why not. czcams.com/video/tDMcXZXx0Ws/video.html
Amada Bonnie no tiene ningun sentido afilar plano un corrante ceramico .. cual es el costo benneficio?
No existe.
English translation of the comment: Beloved Bonnie, it doesn't make any sense to sharpen a ceramic cutter flat... what is the cost-benefit?
Does not exist.
@bonika shears mesh number stone ?
Fine (F)
Red - 25 micron - 600 mesh
Ideal for putting a razor sharp edge on a blade that is regularly maintained.
Extra Fine (E)
Green - 9 micron - 1200 mesh
Polishes and refines the edges of fine knives and precision tools after they have been sharpened on coarser grits.
Order this stone at bonika.com/products/duo-sharp-for-ceramic-blades-1
@@BonikaShearsCan you recommend another sharpener that is cheaper because it is more expensive?

@@JohnNeilBrizuela no. If there was one I would be selling it instead. Remember this device is only for ceramic blades. The steel blades must be sharpened on a hollow grind machine which is over $1000. These pieces of equipment are at www.bonika.com. If you can’t afford the right equipment use professional sharpening services.
I do not agree with the use of this method, the tooth may break or the blades crumble.
You always disagree with me, but you never share a video on how you do it! We all want to know. I have never broken a blade or had one crumble and I don't know anyone else that have had that issue, but since they are ceramic, anything is possible.
El resultado en el mejor de los casos es variable..es ceramico!!!...
No tiene ningun sentido ..es plano.
Te adoro ..pero no coincido
English translation of this comment: The result in the best of cases is variable... it's ceramic!!!...
It doesn't make any sense..it's flat.
I adore you, but I don't agree
I will pass on your question / comment to Jason at the Edge Pro who taught me to sharpen these ceramic blades. He will be with us at the Sharpeners Jam.
A ceramic cutter is flat from the factory, not like a steel one, that is, the result is half the edge. It is as if a branch of a scissors were completely straight. It is a very bad industrial invention. It does not make sense, neither economically nor Functional for the cost.
Yet, they are very popular.
I wonder if this is better than a whetstone because I a have a whetstone and I sharpen clipper blades with it but it just ain't sharpen at all
Yes, it cuts faster and better, no rounding.
