  • Hi, my name is Nick George with Clouds Diamond Sharpening. I'm a professional technician who has been working on hair cutting tools and equipment for the last 20 years. I specialize in hair clipper blade sharpening, scissor/shear sharpening, hair clipper repair and much more! My clipper blade sharpening process is unique as I use a special grinding wheel with a specific geometrical pattern that was designed by my Grandfather which gives me the ability to be able to sharpen any hair clipper blade using actual diamond (1500 grit), which provides a smoother, polished finish. I can repair any hair clipper on the market as long as parts are made available through the manufacturer. I also sharpen a variety of different types of scissors/shears (beveled, convex, semi-convex, chunkers, thinning, fabric, surgical, pinking, etc.)

    • @cloudsdiamondsharpening3973
      @cloudsdiamondsharpening3973  Před 4 lety +1

      The spring pressure is addressed on the tension spring for detachable blades. For adjustable blades, you'll have to address the armature usually. All depends on design. The screws don't address this.

    • @cloudsdiamondsharpening3973
      @cloudsdiamondsharpening3973  Před rokem

      It will vary. Taking care of the blades (cleaning, oiling, storage, etc.) usually will be the biggest factor in determining how long the blade will last. When sharpening a well cared for blade, minimal metal is removed. If a blade is continuously used with issues, not only will it affect the blades life, but also the clippers.

      Clipper blades vary and different mediums are used depending on the situation. There are too many variables to consider when determining why a blade won't cut. However, the wheel itself isn't as important as the expertise and experience of the sharpener.

      Diamond provides a smoother finish. My wheel is designed to cut a shape into the blade that promotes longevity. However, user maintenance and using the tools properly have a lot to do with how long an edge lasts. I sharpen new blades as an additional quality control step due to experience with new blades not lasting long or not cutting at all. If you used my service, and took care of your equipment properly, then yes, I'd say you have a better chance of the blade lasting longer and cutting smoother.

    Can sharpening make my cheap clipper work better? I bought a secondhand Wahl to trim my cat, and it just slides over her fur. It hardly cuts anything. She’s a fluffy cat with very fine hairs, and sanitary trims are $50 plus a car ride she hates.

    • @cloudsdiamondsharpening3973
      @cloudsdiamondsharpening3973  Před rokem

      You probably need a clipper with detachable blades bc wahl clippers are more for human bc and cant hold tension so your clippers are just pushing hair away. The tension on a detachable blade is on the blade and u can use different sizes. So they wont push hair away as bad.

    Why wont some sharpeners sharpen ceramic blades? Are they fragile and snap in half?

    • @cloudsdiamondsharpening3973
      @cloudsdiamondsharpening3973  Před měsícem

      Sharpening ceramic requires different equipment than what's needed for sharpening steel. Not so much the machines themselves but the medium that is used. There aren't as many ceramic blades on the market as steel so sometimes it's not cost effective to buy the proper equipment for a blade you see every now and then. We see a lot of them because we advertise the ability to sharpen them properly, but they're not as common as steel blades for the average sharpener.

    Hi Nick, I have a few questions regarding the Oster Fast Feed and possibly modifying them to become cordless and wireless
    1) Is it possible to modify a corded Oster fast feed clipper by changing the AC Pivot Motor to a DC Magnetic Motor (a DC Magnetic Motor from a Wahl Cordless Senior preferably)
    2) Is it possible to solder in an 18650, 20700 or 21700 battery in the clipper, connected directly to the DC Magnetic Motor
    3) Wireless modification, or Wireless PCB attachment and connected to the 18650, 20700 or 21700 battery.
    4) essentially modify and create a personal wireless Oster Fast Feed clipper
    Note: I believe this has been achieved however I was wondering how tough of a job it would possibly be? And what it would potentially require
