  • Today I'm making a video describing how I installed an Everchill refrigerator travel lock on my Furrion 12 Volt Compressor Refrigerator. Why would I want to do that you might ask...well, some owners of this refrigerator have reported that while driving down the road, rough roads, the doors on the refrigerator/freezer will come open and all their food ended up on the floor of their RV, not good. So, here is my solution to that.
I give credit for this solution to etrailer.com, one of their customer support technicians suggested using the Everchill lock. While true that it's not a direct fit, the installation was pretty simple. I would like to WARN people to please be careful drilling on the front of your new refrigerator, if you feel comfortable ONLY using the 3M tape, do that, but I wanted a bit of extra grip and was concerned that over time the tape would give way considering where it is with relation to the doors and cool moist air.
Here is the part from etrailer.com:
Everchill 12-Volt RV Fridge Door Latch - Black 324-000149
The part costs $28.09, with $4.99 shipping and $2.25 tax for a grand total of $35.33. Kind of expensive for what it is...but, it works and I didn't have to make something.

Love this and looks great. I'm looking to put a better lock on mine. However, it does have a lock that handle should have a spring-loaded plastic part that presses down and clips into the part next to your new lock. It's a pain in the but to undue though and is why I'm looking to do the same thing you have done.
