Multiple perspectives: Collective, in-depth thinking on a key topic

To engage adults in reflection and peer-to-peer learning, CARTA encourages the use of many participatory activities. In this simplified version of the "World Café", each of four small groups tackles a key topic from a different angle and summarises their thoughts on a flipchart. The full group moves from one flipchart to the next, listening to and commenting on their peers' conclusions. By the end, everyone has a 360-degree view of the topic - in this case a formal contract between PhD supervisor and supervisee. Each participant moves back into their professional life with a well-considered view and possible action plans.
