Great. I was worried incubi darkness would be to blue
@@northster1294 it may well be. But it would still look lovely. Potentially look even better as it would pop more.
@@phoenixminiatureart4193 awesome
Excellent tutorial. For those trying the technique know that dry blending works well for large areas. The difficulty is that acrylics very dry quickly so if humidity is low you need to blend out the newly applied paint right away or the surface will be uneven making each layer more difficult to blend smoothly.
Great vid mate i been painting for years but big vehicles scare me but youve made this really make sense was very helpful thank you, wasnt gunna sub but then noticed your channel is still alive so subbed up much lobe bro keep it up please
Thanks so much mate
Excellent Excellent Excellent. I've not only use this on the Redemptor Dreadnought but other vehicles and main characters. Thanks so much. Subscribed!
Thats so good to hear mate. Thanks so much for the support!
great video! I like how you narrated and explained the different techniques
Thanks very much mate
Very cool technique, layered dry brushing! This looks awesome!
great vid mate, super informative as always :-)
Amazing stuff
Appreciate these videos. Given me a lot of ideas on things I can try to adapt my painting techniques. Hopefully I can catch a live stream some time and pick up even more tricks/ideas
Thanks very much mate!
Wow great job! Nice tutorial too!
Thanks very much
Makes me wanna paint some BT! Great video again.
Cheers
Look forward to seeing this.
I'm guessing all of the tips and techniques in this video could also be applied to painting a black Goff Deff Dread (my next project 😁)
Absolutely yes!
This is was so therapeutic to watch!!! End result is brilliant too
Love this video. When you are “over brushing” to smooth the gradient, did you thin the paint or just straight from pot, apply a damp brush and remove some paint away ?
I don't thin the paint at all personally. I know some people do, though, so it's worth experimenting with, I've just never needed to. Yes, I just used dry paper towels.
Very nice paint job here, Watching in apr2022. I'm curious on your opinion on painting black using brown as a highlight color, vs the blue most work with? I'm wondering due to looking at my old cat (who passed a little while ago at 20yrs of age) in the light his black fur would show brown throughout it. Still just trying to figure out my custom Astartes chapter's color pallet.
Black done with brown is really nice. Personally I find it a bit harder to pull off but you can get a lovely result if done well
I'd like to do this on raptor dreadnoughts but i don't understand the smudging technique. Paint dries up quickly and won't change after that. I could drybrush with various colors and intensities over it, but i can't "smudge" it. What am i missing?
Really stoked to try this, been a long time since I've learnt a new technique :)
Thanks for explaining the blending so well, specifically when you said what you DONT want the brush to be doing (too little paint causing a drybrushing effect), that's really helpful :)
Can I ask if the IDF blue you used was an air paint? It's the only one I dont have from your list, I figured I might as well use the same colours, but cant find that one anywhere apart from the air range :/
Thanks very much, yes it's an air paint. Sorry I should have specified that
@@phoenixminiatureart4193 No worries at all matey, thank you :) and thanks for the killer content !
Do you think I could do this with icubi darkness and fenrishian grey? They are citadel paints
Yes absolutely!
we definitely forgive your head being in the way....as long as you keep making vids ;)
