@@RhinoAg depends on the characters, Helbrecht and castellan have the chapter master and lieutenant keywords respectively, meaning they can join the same unit
Objectively correct opinion
Fervent acclimation is "in addition" to the vow originally sele ted for your army. So you can double dip for a brief bit for the vost of 1CP

This video is so helpful. I am still new to the game and trying to learn how to play. I chose black templar as my army because I like the lore and the look of them, so I don't really know much game-wise. This video has helped massively wit hmy understanding of the faction and how it works. Again, thank you for the super helpful video!
Sword Brethren hit on 3's with 1 damage weapons on the Sword Brothers, only the leader (Castellan) gets the base 2 damage WS 2+ sword.

Don't like being that guy, but a correction to sword brethren section: only the Castellan/leader has access to the master crafted power weapon, not the whole unit. So the majority of the models go from damage 1 to 2. Also means that its just that model that can hit on 2+. Its still quite a powerful unit regardless
No it's good to make these corrections it's not bring anything other than right brother.
The Thunderhammer also has 2 damage :D

I've wanted to get started in 40k and the black templars stuck out to me since last edition. They seem even better now so when I finally get my first army put together I'll be looking forward to slaying some xenos scum in the name of the god emperor!
You mentioned bearer when talking about enhancements, does bearer mean one unit or one model in that unit?
Great video--can I run the Indomitus Primaris Captain w/ Relic Shield as a Marshall? I know the data sheet doesn't have a relic shield, but I love the model...
Technically our Captains are Marshals, but the Marshal has his own data sheet.
I have the Black Templar Army set am I better to get a second set to get to a 1000pts or should I buy the Black Templar Combat Patrol box to add to my army
Can you take a freeblade knight and not break the special detachment?
I know you posted this weeks ago but anyways, I'm sort of missing the appeal of the sword brethren. They have a great list of characters that can join them but for 3pts more a model you can get bladeguard which also get damage 2 swords and an Invulnerable Save on top of that.
Is the 1 damage 3 or extra swing hammer per squad really worth it? Or is it something else I'm messing
the ability to take Helbrecht and give him 12 attacks at damage 3 is savage...can also pair with 10 attack emperors champion giving him 10 at damage 2 each. Essentially the sword brethren are unit deleters if you have them paired with the right character.
A 20man Crusader squad with fights first and a +5 FnP sounds like a pretty dang decent move block against any melee aggression, and I guess before playing either GK or TS we will have to apologize...... lol

Can you use more than one enhancement? And do they work in named characters in this edition?
Each character can only have one enhancement, and you can have no more then three in your army.
How does it work when i have multiple melee weapons equipped? Can i select both profiles and use both of them? Only one of them?
Or can i split the 'Attack' characteristic
When you fight, you have to pick only 1 of your weapons! Likewise when you have both a sweep and strike option you can only use one at any time!
I was hesitant on starting black templars due to no psychers but now… 😮
So what you are telling me is i need 2 full max crusader squads, a full 10 man sword bretherin unit...helbrecht...and a sprinkling of heavy support, eradicators maybe?ballistus dread ?

No, if a Character that doesnt have Scout inbuilt joins them it will negate the ability for the whole unit.

What’s the best starter box to buy for black templars?
I would just buy individual model boxes because the combat patrol isn't fantastic. I'd start with Helbrecht or Grimaldus/primaris crusader squad/sword brethren. Then add on as needed to get whatever point army you're looking to have! Think land raider, primaris redemptor dreadnoughts, another box of crusaders, etc.

Unfortunately not guys, only the two characters, all codex compliant chapters just get the space marine index and the detachment, when the codexs drop GW said there will be more flavour in them 😌

I was hoping this video would be more like, "here are some of the best combos you can pull off with templars, and this is a good army composition to start with or build towards". But still a good video. I did watch at 1.25X speed cuz these guys talk kinda slow.😅 No shade or anything though.

Hey there, guys. I have a rules question.
Crusaders have an ability that allows them to reroll advance and charge rolls.
Grimaldus has no such rule. Do the crusaders lose this advantage if he joins them? Because I thought you can only ever move as fast as the slowest model? Or that every model in the unit had to have similar abilities.
I thank anyone for their help/ feedback in advance.
So i think it goes like this. If grimaldus joins them, they wont be able to Scout 6* cause thats inbuild an has to be active by every model. But rerolling advance/charge should be a unit ability which the Leaders also benefit from. Hope this helps :)

No that would be kind of ridiculous especially since Black Templars have an iconic Land Raider pattern. It means that if you're using the specific Black Templars detachment, you have to use the included datasheets for the Gladiator and Repulsor variants because they have the multi-melta weapon option built in whereas the standard codex variants do not.

Well, turns out you have to run Sword Brethren as 5 or 11...
please remake this video, there has been ton of errors coming in, main one sword brethren all min 1 dmg besides the castellan and his master crafted sword is min 2 not all sword brethren are min 2

I think the funniest thing is that you can take all of the Templar units in a Galdius Taskforce and just bring Psykers. Have a Librarian giving a 4+ Invuln to a 20-brick of Crusaders. Granted you're losing a whole heck of a lot of really good, flavorful rules, but just the possibility amuses me.

Hate to be "that guy" but i am afraid you cant take crusader squads in gladius task forces since only the BT detachment allows you Black Templar Units and Crusader have that keyword.
